The best way to sear a new franchise into someone'd mind is to have a character with very clear and appealing design direction. Doing what you're suggesting only muddies and dilutes mascot power.

I would like Widowmaker more if she was a more interesting character to play. Because the dark knight rises or whatever the fuck it was called was a super hyped and well received movie that opened with one a scene full of weird and awkward subtleties. Seriously, rewatch the opening scene three or four times, every time you watch it you will discover some sly awkward piece that just makes you go wtf. The cherry on top is the fact that Bane's voice is dubbed in because his original audio was indecipherable.
