I just played the E1M1 part (pretty much the tutorial) and well... it's good for the most part, it's a good hybrid between the modern and old school shooters. I've been hit from fireballs across the foundry level by Imps on Nightmare mode. It's actually pretty damn tough, because one fireball does a fuck ton of damage and you will fie in a few hits. It also makes you less likely to go for Glory Kills because you won't want to risk dying on your way to the enemy or immediately after you get done with the kill.

because everything I've seen looks like hot garbage, but I love Doom so I want to satisfy my curiosity. I also thought that the Wolfenstien game that came out recently was pretty decent, but my expectations are much higher for Doom obviously.
I won't lie, the game looks kinda fun, at least not as bas as what I expected.

Played through the first enemy encounter this morning. Seems pretty fun so far. Glory kills are so quick that they don't really interrupt the flow and the speed of the player and the enemies feels just right. Dodging fireballs is fun and imps jump all over the place.
