What is THE defining video game of your childhood? The game that influenced you the most as a kid, or the game that you look back at the most fondly?
Mine is Guild Wars. Some of my best life memories come from that game.

I started it playing it when I was 8, I think back in 2005. I'm 19 now. I remember when I first played it I could barely type sentences. I would type at like 10 words per minute, that game pretty much taught me how to use a computer/keyboard/internet.

Kek these games were fun as fuck. I played them on my grandmother's Windows ME and played parts over and over again to explore everything and whatnot. I remember the library level where you sneak around being spooky af.
Ocarina of Time and Mario 64. It's such a shame that Gamecube broke the cycle of genre defining mario and zelda game for each console. The only time they've even come close since then is the galaxy games.

WHEN YOU WALK AWAY
This and FF12 later.
I literally played hundreds of games because of my rich cousin. He supplied me with hand-me-down consoles as the generations succeeded, starting with the SNES + 2 controllers & ~40 games. Then it was the dreamcast, ps1, ps2, gamecube, xbox, and then I bought myself a 360 with birthday money. Was always poor but rich in vidya. Kids came to my snackless, hot ass house (Texas and too poor for AC) just so they could pick out of my collection and play.
So really I have antennae for nostalgia for fucking days here on /v/, but the most defining game of my childhood was probably either GoldenEye orRuneScape (simply because I played it the most out of any game ever--probably thousands and thousands of hours over about a decade.)
I didn't get this until my early teens, But jesus fuck i thought this game was impressive from jumping straight from ps2 games right onto next gen consoles.
