Is that not the Boreal Valley?

Those are called trees
I doubt the DLC is just going to be another generic town level

DLC area will be Drangleic or whatever happened to it.
>>337414398
Looks like a forest and some mountains, you tard.
>>337415234
Maybe he found it on imgur, dummy
A backdrop
What is this?
>>337416064
There are clearly structures in the trees too, dummy.
Really though, it looks like a backdrop.
>>337414398
Bloodborne style DLC with spooky vampires.

Greatwood with the explodable balls

Boreal Valley is way to the left.
I would love a desert setting in dark souls.

Cathedral of deep.
>>337416564
Cursed Great Wood
>>337416872
Carthus already seems to be sandnigger land with more fire magic. A DLC based on it would be pretty neat.
>>337416789
You see ah dat mountun? You canu go deah.

That's actually Abyss Watchers.
>>337416564

very interesting kind of looks like an oriental town
there is a hint that oni exist in the darksouls universe ? so maybe one of the dlc areas will be oriental themed

It's all very placeholdery.

looks like Undead Settlement with a stone bridge instead of that rope bridge
>>337417273
So there IS something in that spot. I always thought it was just random ass trees sticking from between the mountains. Even if it's just for decoration that's pretty neat.

I'm sure BB is good but I still don't understand why they made it instead of Demon's Souls 2. I mean they already owned the rights.
>>337417957
omg i couldnt of guessed that people dressed as samurai are from the east
>>337417909
No shit, alonne knights are basically samurai in western armor
>>337417997
Your joke is shit.
do onislayers slay the onii-chan?
>>337417936
It's not in the right place for the Undead Settlement, but the architecture definitely matches.
>>337418019
I didn't know samurai were so weeaboo
>>337417037
A sort of cross between older Lara Croft temple exploring games, the gameplay and aesthetics of the souls games and a open world like Shadow of The colossus would probably be the game of my dreams.
It would be amazing if one of the dlc had you fighting Oni in an eastern type of area
>>337417880
none of the DLC areas were visible in dark souls 2 and besides mentions of artorias, you know nothing about DaS DLC until you get to it. souls games don't have DLC accessible and visible from the main area. if anything it will be an area dedicated to a piece of unexplored lore, like people in this thread talking about the eastern lands and oni, or possibly courland.
>>337418162
nope
that would be pretty lame
>>337418076
You're waifu a shit.
>>337418093
It may be that this is just scenery, or the old location of the Settlement, then they decided to move it closer to everything else. I doubt the DLC would be another shitty village, unless it leads to something cooler.

Fucking idiot
It honestly looks like undead settlement. I am no game developer but I remember something about devs having a miniature version of a level very far away somewhere for some purpose.
>>337418209
the only way I could imagine this would work is if they pulled some sort of onimusha japanese fortress ruin of some sort, but the whole souls series is heavily grounded in european dark ages/medival so it would probably be a total mismatch.

I dread the idea of what they would throw at us in an open desert. Ankhegs? Some sort of Dune sand worm shit?
No thank you.
So why did they put the cathedral from Anor Londo in this game anyway? It doesn't match up with the scenery from the previous game so far as I can tell. Is it supposed to have just sat there while the rocks and walls around it deteriorated for eons and Irithyll was built right beneath it at some point?
>Try to play DS1

OP can you go to the nameless king area and take upclose pictures of that huge ass dragon skeleton on top of the mountain? Where the NPC leads you and does the dragon gesture.

He's saying that guy predicted that Darkroot Garden was Oolacile, before the DLC was announced based off of item descriptions and environmental details.
>>337418549

Locations in the world are physically moving around Lothric. This is explained in the opening when the narrator says "transitory lands"

>>337419008

>>337419037
it's the abyss
you have the dark gems and the deep gems
one doesn't have scaling or some shit but they're both dark damage
they're the same thing
>>337419086
Ah shit, you're totally right. Thanks for setting me straight
>>337419008
This doesn't affect gameplay and only lore autists care about this shit. Go watch your vidyavaati garbage you sperg
>>337418926
>>337418759
He's right, it's definitely water of some kind. So this confirms that the deep can just show up wherever and set up shop?
>>337419154
The areas of the world connecting together in a way that makes sense and is visible makes the world feel more real. Which is important for immersion. The gameplay will do just fine without it, but immersion adds to the experience.
>>337419135
Dark Souls 2 is DaS1 fan fiction.
>>337418278
>When Aldrich ruminated on the fading of the fire, it inspired visions of a coming age of the deep sea.
>>337418802
Watch the intro again
The lands are transitory. Nothing in the game is where it would be in "reality", or before the lords fucked off.
After the lords left, the world is trying to pull them back together.
>>337419172
Wrong. The abyss and the deep are both part of the dark, true. But saying they're the same is like saying a lake and a flood are the same thing. Sure, they're both made of water. But the flood is desctructive and dangerous, while the lake is fairly calm- though you can still drown in it.
>>337418926
>>337419201
Niceu
Maybe that helps explain the weird water reserve room where you join Aldritch Faithful. Like it isn't a hidden, elaborately decorated and massive water cistern guarded by two mutant dog things. It's a room used for some sort of worship to the Deep and the Deep has corrupted it in its own way.
>>337419291
That doesn't really do anything for me, especially on a first playthrough where I'm just concerned with beating the game.
Every day I dream of what my life would be like if I could appreciate things like that.
>>337419427
Fuck off autist
where's firelink on the map, anyway? behind lothric?
can you see it from any of the other areas?
>>337419338
Deepest lore.
Really though, that actually blew me away. I've been caught up on why things are were they are for a while now and this makes sense.
>>337419317
Holy shit- I just realized. Those disgusting maggot creatures must have been from the deep. I thought they were just wierd experiments, but isn't there some sort of deep spell that shoots bugs?
>>337419447
Well I suppose the best thing you could do is just slow down every once in a while to look at a view, there's plenty of spots in the game that provide nice vistas.
>>337419491
It's not the real one.
>>337419439
Oh fug, I didn't think of this. Does this also explain the watery bits with the crazy spider women?
If the dlc isn't about the deep I'm going to be so disappointed
>>337419559
yeah fuck off you'd still be able to see it unless it's in another dimension
>give the firekeeper eyes
>she sees a land of darkness with small flames flickering in the distance
>she's literally seeing what the world looked like before Gwyn and his posse pulled the Lord Souls out
>age of light, age of darkness, and age of grey are just one big cycle, no matter what you do
Bonus:
>game is about the lords getting sick of this shit and fucking off
>you go and bring them back
>miyazaki is sick of Souls and wants to do other things
>the bosses keep sending him back to do more
>>337419187
It effects immersion.
>>337419503
There's a miracle that the fat bitches use. They're from the Cathedral so there may be a connection. I always assume Rosaria gave birth to the maggot men though, as they all hang out next to her room. The thing is though, it looks like the Cathedral people were nailing them to the ground and creating a barrier around Rosaria, which makes me think Rosaria is some type of experiment about the Deep or some shit.

>>337418005
From what has been seen of the cut areas, it seems like they recycled most of it into Eleum Loyce anyways. Not really any beast people, but Frigid Outskirts seems like what a potential 6-1 would have been like.
>>337419665
it's after oceiros. It's in Lothric's graveyard.
>>337419665
I think anon was referring to the fake one you can wander into behind Oceiros. The real Firelink is tucked conveniently out of sight of any of the views the game gives you, right behind Lothric.
I'm not sure why they decided to do this though.
>>337419952
you saying it's inside the castle?
>>337419491
Some times you can, and other times you can't.
The world layout isn't perfect. Notably the bridge from Undead Settlement to the gates of Lothric doesn't line up at all. I don't even think you can see the place where you fight fatso from Irithyll from the bridge
>>337419727
Man I almost took a screenshot because someone was asking about it last time I was discussing the Deep.
In the chapel that houses the bonfire in Cathedral, you can see it looks like there's a statue of Rosaria, and then the alter to the Deacons has been shoved up in front of it and nearly covers it completely.
Along with some of the other art I think the Cathedral was originally to Rosaria, and then the Deep worship took it over.
>>337419852
wtf are people worshipping this shit it's boring as fuck
>>337414398
>beat vordt
>overlooking the undead settlement
>cutscene acts as a stupid teleport instead of just having some sort of bathway down the wall of lothric
Just makes things feel that much more disconnected. Why was firelink completely disconnected as well? Why couldn't there have just been a path from firelink to the wall of lothric? The first few areas in the game are all completely isolated and you have to use teleports from one to the next. I don't understand why this was necessary.
>>337419668

>>337420067
>Why was firelink completely disconnected as well?

>>337420048

confirmed. also they are the cause for the constantly ressurecting corpses
>>337419668
>she's literally seeing what the world looked like before Gwyn and his posse pulled the Lord Souls out
dude
what
are you retarded?
Before Gwyn found the Lord Souls, there was no Age of Fire, no Age of Dark, there was only the Age of Ancients, with ash and fog and the everlasting dragons.
After Gwyn killed the dragons, he started the Age of Fire, which, in turn, brought dark and humanity.
>the bosses keep sending him back to do more
Miyazaki is literally the President of FromSoft.
Someone asked for the dragon on the mountain at Archdrake Peak
>>337420251
Aldritch. Nigga's hungry.
>>337420275
Fuck, I never actually read the description that hard. Rad.
>>337420180
Yeah. Literally right in front of the bonfire is a large stone altar with a sort of building looking piece on top that has a carving of the deacons on the front facing the pews.
But just above it you can see the tip of a head, and if you step to the side you can see it better that there's a statue that looks very much like Rosaria.
Fuck it I'll just screen shot it give me a minute.
>>337419491

lorewise, an actual dragon, the wyverns are all ashen and those dragons you see in Lothric Castle are just pus of man beasts

Oh wow. Now that's really making me wonder who Rosaria is and why that asshole took her soul to Anor Londo.
>>337420569
it's not a rock formation, it's just the way the textures on the map fuck up at the 0 point. It happens above you as well.
It's noticeable in the ladder that leads to Havel in Archdragon Peak. If you scroll the camera all the way up while climbing you'll manage to see a sort of black hole in the sky.
>>337416564
ill give you a hint thats the giant tower over there

what does it mean?
>>337420707
nigga that statue isn't really unique to that place
it's everywhere around the Cathedral
Rosaria was seen as a Goddess by one of the Archdeacons.
>>337420704
We don't know for sure. If there was a true age of dragons, then everything before it would be wiped out and forgotten.
Like everything else we don't know for sure what this all means, but I think it's a good implication that the firekeeper sees a new age of grey coming

Why are there so many statues of the serpents/angels in Lothric? Wasn't angel worship forbidden?
>>337420878
It's probably just a normal dragon they made bigger.
>>337420959
Maybe it was a baby giant, that could explain why two of them are even there. Maybe the Cathedral had something to do with giants and Rosaria at first, but then the Deep became a priority, so they just shoved them into that side room. Fuck, I dunno.

>>337421142
>>337421204
Yeah, these must be Pilgrims. The plates on their backs are to prevent the wings from growing, those guys in the forest are what Pilgrims would turn into, maybe. As to why they would be growing wings, I don't fucking get it.
>>337420907
It means they're turning into Primordial Serpents from the waning flame.
Primordial Serpents are offspring of the Furtive Pygmy, possessor of the Dark Soul.
In the DLC they will likely be depicted as angels, until you reveal their true forms.

It was forbidden after Gertrude was contacted by the Angels, and then the Scholars took heavy interest in them.
Supposedly the Angels influenced the Scholars' opinions on the linking of the fire, and the prime scholar was Lothric's personal tutor, who told him to not link the fire.
Then it gets banned, and civil war ensues between the defenders of Gertrude and the Angels (Winged Knights, Knights in blue) and the Knights faithful to Lothric Kingdom and Emma, the red knights.
>>337421204
Yeah those, thank you >>337420631
>>337421283
Yeah, they're billboards. In general the game is pretty good about culling things you don't need to see so anything that should only be seen from one angle often doesn't even have back textures
>>337421363
you are just repeating made up stuff from vaati
FUCK OFF SHILL!
>>337421236
Ok.
>>337421261
Holy shit, the dancer and vordt both came out of the deep? shit
>>337419037do you remember how the londo people sealed off the abyss? They flooded it. With water.Aldrich dreams of a world of nothing but vast sea, as it is the only thing that contains dark, this is why the cathedral of the deep has that area of dark water
>>337421330
Guys in the forest are completely unrelated, see those things that shoot at you during the Dragonslayer Armour fight? those are what pilgrims turn into
>>337421363
>and the Knights faithful to Lothric Kingdom and Emma
Emma loyal to Lothric so much, she even teleport you to kill him.
>>337421451
Has vaati actually made a video on this?
It's pretty easy to puzzle all this together yourself by just reading Gertrude's shit, Soul Stream's description and then paying attention to the Winged Knight at the start of the game surrounded by dead Lothric Knights, the other Blue Knight surrounded by 3 dead Lothric Knights...
>>337421528
What the fuck, that's super creepy. How do you know this?
Unfortunately not much behind the Flameless Shrine but on the other hand, I hadn't spotted the fact that the final arena is on top of an archtree. neat.jpg
>>337421507
everything is convoluted
>>337421562
>being this dense
She teleports you to "Save his soul". That either means convince him to Link the fire, or kill him and use his soul to link the fire yourself.
>>337421525
Oh fuck. That makes a lot of sense.
>>337419008
In retrospective you could say Dark Souls 2 bit off more than it could chew. They clearly intended for the game to be larger in scope than its predecessor but failed because of lack of time. Where it fails dark souls 1 and 3 succeed because their areas are more condensed
>>337421451
Mate you retarded or something? Vaati doesn't make anything up, the cunt just steals other's ideas and makes mad dosh from autists watching him.
>>337421590
they're called pilgrim butterflies- they're related to the profaned flame
>>337421525
Water is dark, fire is light
Why did Hawkwood want to become a dragon?
>>337421773
Because being Dragon is all the rage.
>>337421773
They told him he could be anything.
>>337421773
because it's the only way to escape the cycle
>>337421686
All the DLC was supposed to be part of the main game, but they didn't have time. It's really a shame, if they had more time, if Miyazaki hadn't taken so many people to work on BB, Dark Souls 2 could have been so much better.
>>337421590
They are referred to as "Pilgrim Butterfly", look at their over body shape and it matches that of the Pilgrims, those stones they carry in their backs are most likely to avoid this: >>337420907 , I think the snake statue is NOT part of the cycle as it would be dumb that literally any unlucky pilgrim can turn into a primordial snake
>>337421902
That's really fucking creepy.
>>337421902
Shouldn't they be called Pilgrim Moths?
Like moths to the flame, am i rite? Mistranslation?
>>337421685
>>337421525
You've got it wrong- the abyss and dark are two completely different things
Abyss is violent corrupted dark- it exists even during the age of fire when it isn't supposed to
The deep is the peaceful dark that is the shadow of fire. Unfortunately it's been filled with nasty things over time.
>The deep was originally a peaceful and sacred place, but became the final rest for many abhorrent things. This tale of the Deep offers protection for those who worship amidst those horrors.
Where I am now is in the High Wall zone running around on the distant geometry visible from there. It's pretty detailed.
>>337421971
>>337422007
It just gets weirder and weirder, we know angels can't be worshipped right? it's forbidden, and we also know that pilgrims try to avoid turning into those things wich means they're bad in some way, now, those things happen to look like angels too.
Here's the thing, what if the butterflies were the original, forbidden angels and NOT the actual white winged "angels" (golden fat guys in a cage, possibly Gertrude and possibly one more that used to live with Lothric, Ocellotte maybe?)
>>337422281
No clue, the only thing I know is shit's fucked.
>>337421261
Also I doubt Pontiff is dead, he reminds me a lot of the darklurker in souls 2 due to his style and ability to make a copy of himself. If you look at his death animation he just gets on his knees and disappears, every other boss in this game has some exaggerated dieing animation. There is so much lore to him, even more so than most lords, I think they have some thing else planned for him.
Really the strongest evidence for him being dead is we get his soul, but in souls 2 we get the giant lords soul twice.
Behind Lothric while still in the High Wall zone
>>337421773
All his former brother in arms sacrificied themselves to link the fire.
Hawkwood is horrified at what becomes of them afterwards, and realizes that the only alternative to hollowing is suffering an unending hell as cinder for the first flame.
He leaves the shrine in search for a way to avoid that fate, and wound up finding the Path of Dragon, which is seemingly the only way to unlock true eternal life in the dark souls universe. He then finds out you got the missing piece of the dragon set and challenges you to duel in order to get it. The end.

Lore dump on the deep
>Those who linger too long on the brink of the Deep will often slip. Dorhys is sure to have wallowed in this darkness, intoxicated by its peril.
>These insects which lurk in the Deep have tiny jaws lined with fangs to tear open the skin and burrow into the flesh in the blink of an eye, causing intense bleeding.
>Archdeacon McDonnell, a sorcerer himself, delighted in the cathedral's stagnating souls. For him, they represented the glorious bedrock of this world.
>Dregs are the heaviest things within the human body, and will sink to the lowest depths imaginable
>In time, those dedicated to sealing away the horrors of the Deep succumbed to their very power. It seems that neither tending to the flame, nor the faith, could save them.
>In the Cathedral slumber things most terrible, and as such, the deacons require a grand narrative, to ensure they do not falter in their duty. A philosophy, to ward away the madness beckoned by the grotesqueries at hand.
>>337422435
why would all these other major cities be so tiny and close to Lothric?
Just to clarify, the pic in the OP is just the Undead Settlement in nasty-ass LOD form. Either it was a placeholder, or they just threw it out there for flavor.
>>337422435
But that's archdragon peak. Are you fucking retarded? You can see it from Irithyll dungeon and it's exactly the same architecture.

Aldrich or something even bigger?
>>337422595
the Kiln warps time and space, the pyromancer guy explicitely tells you that when refering to Izalith. Also the fact that Untended graves is completely in the dark might hint that nothing else actually exists anymore outside of Lothric and the immediate surrounding areas

>oceiros wanting to make a child of dragons
>the dragons allowed in lothric castle

perhaps you havent realized that there are no Dragons in Dark Souls 3.
only Drakes/Wyverns, and those have survived.
the last real ancient Dragon in the series was Sinh in Dark Souls 2, and the Ancient Dragon, if you count him, considering he's a fraud/clone/resurrection.
>>337423486

>>337423556
Wyverns are part of the dragon family.
>>337422812
Okay, here goes- The maggots literally sprout out of some of the rising corpses. The grave wardens use fire and special bleed inducing blades to dispose of the corpses-
Fire weakens both the worms and the corpses, and allegedly the bleedings makes them stay dead longer.
>The grave wardens of the cathedral, who put down reincarnating corpses, wield weapons that cause profuse bleeding, for the loss of blood and bodily fluids is said to slow reanimation.
The missionary women who come from the cathedral fire insects from the deep at you, and you can get their miracle
>These insects which lurk in the Deep have tiny jaws lined with fangs to tear open the skin and burrow into the flesh in the blink of an eye, causing intense bleeding.
Fire is the only real weakness these maggots have, so it just makes sense that the undead soldiers would self immolate as a last resort to avoid infection. You can do it by just holding a torch, but they're not that smart.
>>337422869
I think there's a deeper lever of the cathedral that goes into the actual deep itself, which is actually full of really really scary shit. The maggot monsters are from the deep

>sun is shining and bright as ever
>inhabited by ancient wyverns n shit
>everytime you kill a boss you wake up in a new part of the area
>you ring a bell and it immediatley starts raining, which creates storm clouds that you can walk on.
Its proabaly one of the most bloodborne inspired areas, and not only that its very disconnected from the rest of the game.
>>337422539

>>337423625
The deep is slowly consuming the entirety of the cathedral. You can see the water slowly rising, and a deep chasm of water just outside. Most of the completely grown maggot creatures are at the bottom of the area outside of the cathedral.
In addition there are tons of piles of dead maggots and dead corpses piled all over the place inside the cathedral. I think the knights and deacons keep it fairly clean. Anor Londo is less corrupted by the deep, and is more or less just been completely consumed by aldrich. Aldrich literally is anorlondo at this point.
But it's not connected to the actual deep, so no maggots.

Yep. pic related is a glimpse of the deep slowly rising and consuming the cathedral. I'm assuming the bugs originated from somewhere in there.
Neat fact, both the dancer and Vordt come out of portals from the deep. Additionally, when you enter drangleic in ds2, you jump into a strange dark portal in the water- which is opened by a bunch of little bugs.

The maggot men are members of the Rosaria's Fingers covenant. You find Heysel transformed into one.

I know! The deep is by far the most interesting part of the game. There's still a ton of questions I have.
>Where did Rosario come from, and what are those men- maggots she chills with?
>Why do the men maggots shoot miracles in the shape of saint klimt's bident?
>Why are there so many corpses outside of the cathedral in the first place, perhaps victims of aldrich?
>Who transported the maggot corpse creatures to irithyl dungeons, and why?
So many questions, so few answers
>>337425786
eventually when the cheat table is released will be doable
Someone mod the game to unmask Yuria.
>>337425816
>>Why do the men maggots shoot miracles in the shape of saint klimt's bident?
IIRC, the cathedral of deep was originally meant to sort of suppress the deep, but the people eventually started worshipping it instead.
It's clear that those slug men were formerly normal people. Saint Klimt is said to have left his faith behind. he clearly became a slug man, as does heysel, who you find in rosaria's chamber.
>>337425407
That's where they originated from
>>337425447
Either blind or trolling, you can see the dripping water when the dancer crawls out. Not your average portal- also note that the dancer has to yank it's legs out because the deep doesn't want to let go just yet.
>>337425816
the biggest question is why does that rosaria finger dude who gives you the red eye orb key:
1.has the key to the prison of a darkwraith
2.seems to think Rosaria's soul can bring back Gwynevere
As silly and maybe even too fanservice-y as it would be i really hope we go to the East in one of the expansions. I never wanted to do it before but with Dark Souls 3's introduction of giant Oni that needed Greatbows to be slain into the lore it makes me want to go there really bad.
>time is convoluted
>it automatically retcons inconsistent lore
>land is shifting
>it automatically excuses bad map design
Bravo Fromsoft
>>337425940
The cathedral served the dual purpose of worshiping the deep and containing it. The deep itself is lovely and nice, but nasty creatures have gotten into it which will attempt to devour you while you're praying.
>The deep was originally a peaceful and sacred place, but became the final rest for many abhorrent things. This tale of the Deep offers protection for those who worship amidst those horrors.
>>337426032
>2.seems to think Rosaria's soul can bring back Gwynevere

>>337426124
Sounds like the deep is roughly equivalent to the dark that fascinated the dark covenant in DS2 and the dark in the Undead Crypt there too
>>337425302
In a previous cycle, the abyss consumed almost everything and the pygmy incarnate was defeated and so the abyss receded and spat everything back out again.
>>337426125
Why is everyone so fucking ugly in DS3
I dont understand how the deep is different than the abyss
>cathedral of the deep is what the way of white led to after this long
>the abyss is associated with the age of dark and the age of fire is related to the first flame being rekindled
>the way of white sought the rite of kindling in DS1
>kindling humanity is sort of an offshoot of linking the flame tho on a smaller scale
>the way of white use miracles
>miracles are from the gods
>in ds3 it mentions how casting sorceries using faith is blasphemy
>at some point the way of white had its beliefs altered because everyone in the new way of white seems to have abandon the gods
>this might have to do with how initially undead had humanity while the unkindled now have embers whichs seems to imply your more closely related to the age of fire instead of the age of dark
>so when the way of white "abandon the gods" for humanity they also began see the abyss differently
>if they began to worship the abyss then the abyss watchers would just fuck their shit up
>basically just changed the meaning of the abyss to the deep for their cult like purposes so that their new religion would prosper in a world with only light or dark as obvious choices

The abyss is a corruption of humanity created when the people of oolacile fucked with manus.
The deep is just part of the cycle. No matter how bright your fire, there will be shadows cast by it- the deep is the shadow cast by fire. Sadly like all things in dark souls it's been corrupted.

Guys, what if dark souls two and three are different time lines?
Dark souls two takes place in the world where the first flame was put out by the chosen undead, the time of dark comes and leads to a new flame and new countries rising and falling. Along with this the original lord souls reform and take shape.
In dark souls three, the first flame has been lit countless times but still needs to have sacrifices more and more often. Finally the world stands on the edge of the age of dark, with one last extension of the age of fire.

yes but we're talking Dark Souls 3.
DaS1 had a few remaining ancient Dragons.
although only the one in Ash lake is an OG stone dragon. Kalameet is a dragon, but he does not have stone scales. He is an offspring of the original dragons.
DaS2 had Sinh, who is clearly a stone dragon, and has poison in him, very possibly a survivor of Nito's plague.
and the Ancient Dragon, who is some kind of fake anyway, though regardless, seems like he MIGHT be a stone Dragon

The Deep is related to Ash Lake and the liquid therein. It's the lowest part of Dark Souls and is literally the "bed rock" of the world. Considering how the kiln is almost at the base of archtree like >>337421597 shows, the surface of Ash Lake should be very close to the current surface of the world. confirmed retard who can't read. Sinh was sleeping down there long before elana showed up, because of the poison. He woke up only after the poison got drained out by Yorgh's spear. It's either because of Nito's poison, or as a result of old age. Predators tend to amass a lot of toxins in their bodies, so if Sinh lived for several hundred thousand years he'd become chock full of it.
