A lot of these points come down to taste, and I can't argue about that. Raiden was meant to be a a little bitch. Anyway, the gameplay was improved by a lot, and for me, the arsenal gear section was what made it. One of the deepest parts in vidya imo. Some of the points you make are also very minuscule, such as the escort mission, which lasts for a few minutes. There was also nothing wrong with the Solidus fight too. What do you think was wrong with the Katana?

I did after I got the Essential Collection (MGS2 was a rental). Replayed all of the MGS games and I still skipped the scenes in Arsenal Gear because my younger self thought they were a clusterfuck.

It is a massive disappointment compared to the 1st one. They try to explain everything and in the progress ruin the whole mystery feel the first game had.
The quality also starts going down near the end. The last 20 mins of the game or so feels very rushed.
It isn't bad but personally I would avoid it if you enjoyed the 1st one a lot.
