I'm playing it right now and it's even more flawed than I remember. The writing is superb but the gameplay is such a chore at so many spots
Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess all clearly stand out above it.

Nah, none of the first 3 dungeons are particularly impressive. (I'm starting Great Bay Temple right now and I particularly remember that one being a stinker)
Plus there's a lot of inbetween shit that's annoying. Clock Town is amazing sure, but outside of that, Romani Ranch, and Ikana, the world of Termina isn't that interesting

N64 was the peak of Zelda and Mario. i guess those were the days when Nintendo employees were n a roll. it also helped they didnt have to rebuild the engine from scratch

Nah, just game directors will some balls. A lot of devs are socially castrated sacks of meat who just want to squeak by. Nothing wrong with that, really. There are so many people competing now that if you make any money you're doing pretty well.

What I meant is that the dungeons outside of Stone Tower themselves feel like chores. Plus a lot of the shit you have to do inbetween dungeons, I don't care about rescuing monkeys, I don't care about crying Gorons, and I sure as hell don't care about Zora eggs.

I actually bought the game when it originally released on the N64. It was really disappointing and I never finished it. I recently replayed OoT on the 3DS and thought about giving MM another chance since it's available on 3DS too.
