Aside from the victory animation maybe running a little too long, it's also the fastest-paced Persona game yet. The only RPG I think of that's faster is Etrian (not Q, though, which is slower than even the Etrian games that came before it), but that's a lot less flashy. Style is annoying when you have to sit through long animations every single time, but all the combat animations look pretty short and snappy.

This is what I think what most people aren't noticing. Sure, it looks garish as fuck, but when you analyze it a bit the stuff you actually need to read (dialogue boxes, stats, move names and the like) is perfectly readable and orderly, there's nothing getting in the way of the player's inputs, and all animations and transitions are rather snappy. It's really good design.
The only real exception is OP's webm which is really too long, but they've already shown a shorter version exists.

Rewatch the battle gameplay. The moment you bring up the skill menu, you auto-summon your Persona. The attack then happens really quickly, followed by an even quicker transition animation to the next person. That cuts out a lot of the fluff from P4's animations, which involved summoning the Persona, watching a longer attack play out, and then a second of nothing happening in the aftermath, with absolutely no transition to the next person.
I still have some reservations about some things, since it's impossible to tell how they work, but so far, the UI looks to have style and substance.

Clearly they are completely redoing how MC gets personas. It'll almost definitely depend on who you're fighting, rather than a "shuffle time;" that's just common sense. That could mean you have to "negotiate/capture/throw a pokeball" in a way similar to SMT games, but I think this will be entirely new and unlike previous systems.
It's an interesting problem, because you have to make sure MC can't just snatch up a million low level persona and only fuse for 90% of the game.

To be fair, it does turn into one when you're trying to defeat the optional boss, and as well as fusing the personas you might want to obtain. I really only ever grinded to beat Margaret/Elizabeth/Reaper and to get the best weapons/personas in the game.
