Yeah, definitely did nothing wrong, at all.
>>

To be fair, Emprah's dickishness directly and non-directly led to 2-3 primarchs jumping the ship and Horus didn't have to do jack.
>>
>>337379750
Eat a dick.

Neither the Emperor or Malcador blame Horus. Magnus is the one they blame the most beause he fucked them over more than Horus.

Horus did everything wrong, Heretic. The murders of Sanguinius, the corruption of half the Astartes, the crippling of the God Emperor of Mankind, his accursed Heresy, so many crimes that still taint the Imperium to this very day.
>>
When will they revive the emprah?
>>
>>337379918
Didn't he just want to make an imperial webway that would unite mankind together?

My pre-heresy fluff knowledge is questionable at best
>>
>>337380405
Yes, that was the plan. A safe and fast warp travel network.
>>
>>337379918
I think Emperor was just very aloof and didn't know how to be a father to a bunch of grown men he never really knew. And I suspect Primarchs had daddy issues through the roof.

Too much shit to list off the top of my head, suffice to say Empra is a dick.

I haven't read any of Horus Heresy books though, so I have no clue just how much shit they've retconned already

So wait, what happened after humanity started doing space travel?
>>

>>

They retconned that the reason why Big-E was so quiet and secret about the webway project was because if it became public, astropath houses, which are vital to the continued existence of IoM, would throw a massive shitfest and threaten the mankind's survival as a species. One of the few good retcons.

Humanity didn't do galaxy scale space travel for a very long time because of Warp storms surrounding the Earth. Then they set colonies on countless planets and the Emprah crusaded to unify them (and to recover the lost primarchs).

>>337381779
the Warp is like another dimension that's parallel to ours and can be used for space travel. The problem is that it houses all sorts of cosmical horrors. A Warp storm is basically a localized storm that makes space travel nigh-impossible.

The primarchs are a few super-humans that the Emperor created out of his own DNA to be his leaders. Their pods were stolen by the Chaos gods and spread throughout the Galaxy.

>>
>>337381779
the warp is basically another dimension used for FTL travel, but its also full of dickheads. travelling through warp storms is like tring to row a dinghy up a waterfall.

the primarchs are the emperors sons who got stolen and spread across the galaxy.

You've got the timeline wrong, Slanesh was born long before mankind reached the stars.

The age of strife came about because the iron men (read: the robots who did all the work) rebelled and the eye of terror randomly shit out some storms (read: tzeentch probably arranged it) around the same time.

>>
>>337381249

40k borrows a bit from Dune. Basically humanity got really good at technology and began space travel and colonized a bunch of worlds. Then we created AI which became known as the Men of Iron which started a massive war with us and fucked us. We won the war but lost a lot of our tech and then the God Emperah revealed himself and told us to never make AI again.

After that technology became all "knighty" and decadent but also stagnant and unimproving as a bunch of machine cult fags on mars worshipped blueprints like holy scripture and no one improves the technology.

This is simply an excuse for 40k technology to never improve based the advanced-yet-primitive junk you see, like how Orcs have their technical knowledge hard coded into their DNA.

Anyway, I might be wrong about when the Emperah revealed himself, I can't remember if he was the global leader during the dark age of technology or after.
>>
>>337383074

>Tech
Good firepower and army equipment in general, due to the fact they have very, very few soldiers to equip compared to other factions. On this map, the Tau Empire is contained within the Ultramar sector (under control of Ultramarines). The Tau "Empire" is smaller than a Space Marine single Chapter's domain. They're pretty much irrelevant, despite what annoying weeaboos want to tell you.

They seem to embrace tech a lot more, considering their only real threat is their weaponry and tactics. I'd say they utilize tech more than any other race simply because they have no splicing or crazy spirit powers or WAAAGH, etc...

infantry firepower is high.
titan tier firepower, absolutely pathetic.

regular tau weapons are equivelant to imperial plasma guns, the imperium's heavy infantry killer. theyre more stable too.
But it takes several of the heaviest Tau ground unit to take down even a single Titan.

Their fleet is also relatively really small and arent very capable of dealing with shit like boarding should the enemy actually be able to get close enough.

As far as scale, they are tiny. Their empire is about as big as the realm of Ultramar, the worlds under the Ultramarine's protection.

the drones they use have basic AI, but they have been linking them together to get more processing power out of them. theyre going to link up too many and create a genuine, self aware AI. Without an organic component to protect it from the Warp. (like Servitors do)
they're going to see a daemonic posession of a network of a massive number of drones, and it'll be nearly impossible to kill it since the Tau use those same drones to contruct the factories that build more drones.

age of sigmar isnt just bad because it simplified the game, it blatently targets a different audience and left its old fanbase in the dust. But it also completely changed everything about fantasy. Dorfs arent dorfy, theyre some kind of native south/central american thing.
All humans are now spess mehreens because spess mehreens sell better than any of their other lines, etc.

Even if people like the change of rules (which I dont think they do) they dont like what they did to the world of fantasy. Its much more something Blizzard would put out. Whether its bad or not isnt really relevant because its just not what the fanbase wanted.

If you want good guys just look into some of the "nicer" spess muhreen chapters.

Salamanders and Lamenters chapters are considered to be the only true good guys in the 40k universe
Tau as well, but their "greater good" has a huge shadow behind it etc.

Salamanders put huge weight on their family ties and good deeds etc.
While Lamenters do everything in their power to do the right thing and help the ones without power, even if it means their own deaths in the end. They are cursed with THE worst luck of anyone in the 40k universe. All of their stories are filled with tragic outcomes.

Oh yeah, them too definitely.

Ultramarines are good, but as in good by the book. Codex astartes, regulations etc. They are highly depenable, but horribly bland compared to everyone else, where their only flaw is that they are too damned perfect.

Blood Ravens tend to be nice, you just end up a with some random stuff missing all of a sudden when they leave

Space Wolves just wanna party all day

Dark Angels are basically dark and brooding crusaders repenting for their past mistakes by purging all evil and pledging their full allegiance to the emperor

Blood angels are the chapter that the Lamenters came from, but yeah, they suffer from the black rage so whenever they aren't going full blown berserk mode they are fairly kind and honorable.

Imps are just normal humans, just another cog in the warmachine. Highly expendable compared to the superhuman warriors out there.

>"If you don't serve on the battlefield, then you will serve on the firing line"
etc.
There's plenty of good guardsmen companies, but there's also plenty of the grimdark ones.

Just go link surf the companies on the lexicanum or a wiki to learn more about them, there's an extreme variety to each of the companies, a lot of them taking direct inspiration to real life stuff.

My favorite being the 597th Regiment of the Valhallan Ice Warriors where Commisar Ciaphas Cain serves, probably the only Imperial commisar with fucking common sense and that actually cares for his men and women serving under him. The company itself is pretty neat as well, as its 2 regiments combined into one because they suffered to big of losses to recooperate, so they combined them into one. Catch is that they were one male only and a female only regiments, so lots of shenanigans there.

Eldar are broken in DC so kill them ASAP.
Then go for Tau because they can get bullshit with their ranged weaponry and their stealthy shit. Get the bonus that allow you to start with a pre-built base and the bonus that allow you to attack twice in a turn, those are really broken.
Specialize your squad instead of giving them different heavy weapon.
Scout sniper rifle are good but they shouldn't be your main attack force, use them as fire support or for scouting and picking some isolated enemies.
Honor Guard are not so usefull and will mainly be used for capping.

the core worlds of the eldar empire was what became the EoT. They were into all kinds of depraved shit and the psychic reflecion of it in the warp created slaanesh, and the creation of a new god caused the warp to rupture into real space creating the EoT.
Craftworlds that survived were far from the main eldar empire at the time because they saw shome shit was going to go down or got lucky

Pretty much.
Here's the dividens for post-Slaneesh birth universe:
Craftworld Eldar: eldar who packed their shit up and left. Most common Eldar left in the Galaxy. about 10% of Eldar are them.
Harlequins: Basically Space pirates. 5-8% are them.
Dark Eldar: eldar that evacced the eye of terror, but because learning lessons is for fags they're still super evil. Got a cool city, though. About 3-4% of the Eldar left are them.
And then there's the misc. 5~%, and whatever is left is what was consumed by the Eye of Terror.

Eldar that currently exist- less than half of their race is remaining, which is why they're such fucking dicks about saving even a handful (comparison, anyways) of Eldar at the cost of a few human worlds. "The Blood Axes of Waaagh! Grog tell a story about the greatest Kommando attack ever, known as Da Big Raid. It happened on the world of Vor’sanar, when Waaagh! Grog smashed into the edges of the Tau Empire. Freebooter raids on the Tau planet had been previously repulsed by a huge alien warship with more dakka than anything in the Ork fleet. Called the Korst’la by the Tau and Da Big Dakkaship by the Orks, it stalked the space lanes around Vor’sanar, annihilating anything that trespassed on the Tau Empire. The Korst’la’s only weakness was that it needed to use the huge orbital docks around Vor’sanar to refuel and rearm. While Grog knocked the heads of his Freebooter Kaptins together, trying to get a large enough fleet together to storm the Tau planet, a mob of Blood Axe Kommandos came up with a more cunning plan. They would attack the orbital docks while the Korst’la was away, wrecking the Tau station, and denying the warship a place to repair itself or rearm.[2]

The Kommandos set out in a looted Tau transport ship, using captured codes to approach the Vor’sanar dockyard under the pretence of having been damaged in an Ork raid and seeking safe harbour. The Tau were initially suspicious of the lone vessel limping into their station, but every demand for identification was met with a satisfactory response, and the idea that Orks could undertake such a ruse was unthinkable to the Tau. It was a horrific surprise then when the vacuum seals opened and Ork Kommandos poured out into the station. By the time the Tau had mustered to repel the invaders, the Kommandos had reached the station’s reactors. Smashing them to scrap, they set off a chain reaction, dooming the station and allowing Waaagh! Grog to ransack Vor’sanar and ultimately the entire sector.[2] "

Vulkan and Fulgrim killed a bunch. Vulkan because he's racist against Eldar, Fulgrim because the voices in his head told him it would be fun.

Aside from getting fucked in the ass by Primarchs they typically just wipe out the human colonists and then ask a craftworld for help if the invaders try to come back. They can defend themselves, and the world's flora and fauna helps them kill invaders, but they need some help from their Craftworld cousins when Space Marines or Dark Eldar show up.

the emperor is powerful enough to send the 4 chaos gods running when he smacked Horus so hard in the sould it became non-canon.
he is powerful enough to take on a c'tan and either enslave it or put it in a coma for a couple dozen millenia.

I assume however he didnt use his power all the time because it'd attract major warp traffic. Daemons all over the place. predicting the future is a lot less intense, so just using his foresight to guide his fleets is more practical.

That's fine anon, it isn't for everybody. But people like it because it's Space Fantasy and you can do what you want. Most people on /v/ will, at best, have read a Lexicanicum page or a 1d4chan page, or maybe a novel or two. 90% of them won't have entered a GW bunker and 95% of them won't own a model.

This means people like to talk about fluff more than they play the game and it's good for "my dad can beat up your dad" type arguments.

David Annadale is my favourite writer now. Everything he's written as been brilliant. He even made the The Last Wall (also known as Literally Nothing Happens; It's a Setup Book) fantastic. I kept reading it despite nothing really happening. I just hope the next two I have yet to read don't fuck it up.

Quite literally the most powerful Psyker of all, and a being on par with a Chaos God.

I believe it's mentioned somewhere in an old book or codex that he was capable of creating warp storms.

And I don't mean those piddly little localized versions regular Psykers make to fuck up a country; I mean full on, lightyear spanning storms in the warp that could consume entire systems and shutdown all warp-travel through the area for centuries.

And he could do it with /ease/

Literally did that because the pain and suffering Iyaden constantly experienced when using their necromancy was hilarious to them.
>Dark Eldar also still follow the authority of the laughing god.
They don't Worship Cegorach. They allow the Harlequins performance because the Fall is an important part of their history the play itself is a fantastic form of entertainment. They don't attack Harlequins because Harlequins are dangerous elite warriors with forbidden knowledge and a perfect map of the webway. Attacking them will get you killed faster then you could imagine.

There are tonnes of accounts in fluff of Dark Eldar tortuing and killing their cousins. There are Dark Eldar weapons that explicitly need an Eldar's soul to function. Every single Incubus has a weapon in his helmet made from the Soul of an Eldar Exarch. These things are horrific murder monsters cursed by a degenerate God they need to satiate with the souls of others just to continue living. Why wouldn't they use the juiciest most powerful souls available?

Not at all true.
Vulkan is simply in the Solemance Galleries, chilling out with trayzn the infinite
Leman Russ is in the warp, and may be returning very very very soon. This year in fact
Corax is also in the warp, though who knows when that mopey guy will comeback
khan is also in the warp, chasing dark eldar I belive. A wild open, infinite Hellscape were he can ride and ride forever, killing xenos and heretics and doing his noble savage thing is just to his liking
Dorn is most likely alive, though where he is is anyone's guess.
Lion'el johnson is taking a nap on the rock. He'd probably be awake by now, if the dark angels didn't only speak in hushed whispers because they're afraid somebody will learn of all their secrets and heresy.
Bobby G, sire of the ultramarines, greatest of them all, lord of Macragge and the ultramar empire, is healing in stasis. That shouldn't be possible, but Girlyman gives no fucks.
Sanguinus, best of men, may be alive depending on what happened with the Sanguinor.

Only Ferrus Manus is most likely going to stay dead. Which really sucks for ferrus manus. Felled by his most beloved brother, using the blade he forged no less. I'd cry, but the flesh is weak and so are emotions of the flesh.

killing something in the warp is kind of hard. its like trying to kill a concept. the emperor MIGHT be able to do it, but we dont really know what would happen if he did. More importantly, the chaos gods come from emotions. so long as those emotions manifest themselves in the same way, that chaos god or something similar to it will always come back.

The Emperor's plan was to conquer the galaxy and turn it secular so none of these emotions could feed the chaos gods. He was trying to starve them by making it so nobody knows they even existed.

That's not true at all. He planned to build the Webway so there was no need for Warp travel, then go into the Warp and kill the Chaos Gods, who had been weakened by his orders and his power.

Yeah but the thing is the 'go into the warp and kill them once they're weakened' part would not work.

We KNOW the Chaos Gods don't care if you're aware of their existence, merely by experiencing their associated emotions you empower them.

The Emperor assumed it was a matter of worship, and didn't really understand exactly what they were as a result.

>HUGE investment

Relatively speacking, tabletop 40k is a rather cheap hobby. You can build a pretty sizable army over a year or so and it will cost you something like 500$ (and hours of painting/modeling).

Compare it to MtG, where the entry price for a Modern deck is between 700 and 2000$ and you'll realise that what makes the price of a hobby is the amount of time and money you are ready to invest in it.

The Emperors plan was working though. The Warp was originally calm and peaceful, but because of the War in Heaven became filled with turmoil and living nightmares. With enough peace and order for a prolonged period of time a race of powerful Psykers like what humanity was becoming would have been able to clean up the warp of it's shit stirring inhabitants so it could finally settle down completely.

Short of wiping out all life but mankind and then neutering it's capacity to experience anything, it's literally impossible for him to cut off their power supply.

His plan was going to lead to failure if he actually tried to directly fight them right after putting Magnus in charge of the webway, they're essentially eternal in one form or another so long as emotions still exist.

And Magnus may have been played like a fiddle, but at least he was trying to learn - if the Emperor had been the same, he might have seen why he needed to mix up his plan in the long term.

It explicitly was working and it was very possible. If the Warp can be riled up there is no reason it can't be calmed down again. They may always exist but if its in some corner as a unconscious puddle of humanities hope or desire for better things the result is still the same as if they were dead and the Warp would still have become an infinitely better place. Coupling this with turning humanity into a race of Emperor tier Psykers with immense self control, The Warp would have been humanities bitch.

Magnus was learning for learnings sake, which was a bad thing. We see this by how he was manipulated by an evil god of plotting he should have never encountered in the first place if he had listened to the Emperor, a man who had made him in a test tube and had 50,000 years of experience dealing with the Warp.

>All the while ridiculing him for his loyalty and adoration, calling him weak minded and insulting him for wanting to have a higher being to believe in

Nah m8 Lorgar had every right to be pissed enough for Chaos to corrupt him

Come on, it's 40k, the simple fact of playing should be enought regardless of the outcome.
Trust me I play Orks.

The Emperor didn't make Lorgar and his 200,000 Space Marines so they could perform guard duty. He needed every Legion doing their absolute best and Lorgar's had accomplished next to nothing and instead wasted his time doing the one thing the Emperor had explicitly told him not to.

Sorry, as I said, actual numbers.

But, if you're (or, more correctly, a guy on Whineseer is right). Then AoS will be gone soon and everything will be OK again.

I've never played any official games within "bunkers".

I've only played with my friends and cousin at his place, because his dad was into train models, so he had and made amazing landscapes to play on in a dedicated room. This was way back when I was still into the tabletop and had an ultrasmurf army. So we pretty much only had friendlies and were pretty lax about the rules with proxies and stuff.
Nowadays I just paint imported mech models from Japan, but I wanna get back into it sometime, just so fucking hard to find people where I live since there's no miniature shop anymore, the only one we had closed down many years ago.

Civ 6 has proven that devs are forcing cartoony graphics so they work on tablets. DoW3 won't be good. It doesn't even LOOK good. Just accept this anon.

>capital city was burned to the ground with his citizens trapped inside
it was the capital of the most zealous shrine world they built, emps destroyed it because of that. And he had the ultrasmurfs spend a week clearing all the people out of it so it was empty.

emps was a dick and handled it poorly, but lorgar wouldnt respond to anything else

Hastings is one of the few rumormongers, if not the only one, that was on point every single time, some times months in advance. I have total faith on what he says, I don't care if he posts on Warseer or even fucking Spikeybits for that matter.

Also, the fact that GW is hotfixing the game in desperation and that nobody I know wants to play it only further confirms what I think is true.

You'll have GW's investor report mid june to confirm all of this anyway.

>They may always exist but if its in some corner as a unconscious puddle of humanities hope or desire for better things the result is still the same as if they were dead and the Warp would still have become an infinitely better place
That would literally just make Tzeenth the top dog of the gods over Khorne again. Like he would literally be VASTLY more powerful if the warp was filled with hope, it is literally his primary emotion.

I don't think they've produced any 40k games.

Or do you mean Total War series and the other 40k games Relic made?

>>337401427
That's fine anon. My WHFB army hasn't gone anywhere. I buy the AoS shit for something to read as I'm NEET and read constantly. The Sigmarine shit is boring, but the Skaven, Orc, Lizardmen and Chaos shit is good. We'll see.

As for 'hotfixing' I don't think they ever planned NOT to have points. You do realise WHFB 1st and 2nd didn't have points either?

>In the meantime, Magnus had finally come to realise that he had been used as a pawn by Tzeentch -- and he also understood that the forthcoming clash between the Space Wolves and the Thousand Sons was also part of a Chaotic plan to destroy two Loyalist Space Marine Legions. He decided to sacrifice the Thousand Sons and himself, rather than be the unwilling puppet of Chaos yet again. For this reason he did not forewarn the people of Prospero or his own Astartes of the coming Imperial assault.

Man, that nigga magnus is a fucking bitch.

Eisenhorn
>(Inquisition shenanigans)
Gaunt's ghosts
>(Imperial guard shenanigans. Mainly chaos focused)
Ciaphas Cain
>(Imperial guard/commissarial shenanigans and filled with dark humor. Goes up against most foes)

Any of these 3 series will get you started and break you in. I highly reccomend Ciaphas Cain as it was my first novel series, and its funny as shit to boot.

Are there any vidya with the Adeptus Mechanicus?
>>
>>337401654
Yes Tzeencth would technically become stronger then Khorne but that doesn't mean anything when humanity is psychically in tune with each other and plotting, backstabbing, and sudden change never happens. Once everything was made orderly and correct people wouldn't hope for anything, they'd already ahve everything they need.

Humanity is already becoming more and more Psychic. The Emperor is an example of human potential. All he is is a being made up of thousands of human psykers. With enough time all humanity could become like him.

That would have stopped if he had listened to the Emperor about how the Warp was bad news.

I tried it the once and never did again. I mostly used Testor's paints and glue because I started modelling with WW2 models. I used the GW paints when I wanted to mix because oils are a bitch to mix.

Still have my Guard army all packed up nice but they killed Guard customization.

>One time fighting a battle against Chaos
>He's using Plague Marine's for this battle
>Led by Typhus
>I've got my army that's HELLA good for city fighting
>Hardened Veterans all had shotguns or close combat weapons
>Towards the end of the game we're both whittled down to almost nothing
>It's down to a battle between Typhus and my command squad
>My commander's guards all get fuckin rekt
>It's down to a 1v1 between him and Typhus
>Slowly taking Typhus down
>MAKING EVERY SINGLE INVULNERABLE SAVE
>I come to realize the entire store is watching this battle
>Make the last attack roles
>Typhus has 1 HP left
>fails one invulnerable role
>Entire store erupts into loud cheering
>Typhus was never used in that store again

That day a hero was born

sega and relic made coh2 wich apart from costing 100$ also had an ingame upgrade system that undermined competetive play. Not wanting to rely on personal experience, but I haven't seen a single coh player that claimed that the sequel is worthy in any way.

And since coh is dows world war 2 brother, signs are pointing towards disappointment right now.

descissions such as being superjew with dlc or misunderstanding that competetive games don't need upgrade trees smells very much of publisher shenanigans
