To be fair, Emprah's dickishness directly and non-directly led to 2-3 primarchs jumping the ship and Horus didn't have to do jack.

Horus did everything wrong, Heretic. The murders of Sanguinius, the corruption of half the Astartes, the crippling of the God Emperor of Mankind, his accursed Heresy, so many crimes that still taint the Imperium to this very day.

Didn't he just want to make an imperial webway that would unite mankind together?

They retconned that the reason why Big-E was so quiet and secret about the webway project was because if it became public, astropath houses, which are vital to the continued existence of IoM, would throw a massive shitfest and threaten the mankind's survival as a species. >>337381779
the Warp is like another dimension that's parallel to ours and can be used for space travel. The problem is that it houses all sorts of cosmical horrors. A Warp storm is basically a localized storm that makes space travel nigh-impossible.

The primarchs are a few super-humans that the Emperor created out of his own DNA to be his leaders. Their pods were stolen by the Chaos gods and spread throughout the Galaxy.

the primarchs are the emperors sons who got stolen and spread across the galaxy.

>>
>>337381249

40k borrows a bit from Dune. Basically humanity got really good at technology and began space travel and colonized a bunch of worlds. Then we created AI which became known as the Men of Iron which started a massive war with us and fucked us. We won the war but lost a lot of our tech and then the God Emperah revealed himself and told us to never make AI again.

After that technology became all "knighty" and decadent but also stagnant and unimproving as a bunch of machine cult fags on mars worshipped blueprints like holy scripture and no one improves the technology.

This is simply an excuse for 40k technology to never improve based the advanced-yet-primitive junk you see, like how Orcs have their technical knowledge hard coded into their DNA.

Anyway, I might be wrong about when the Emperah revealed himself, I can't remember if he was the global leader during the dark age of technology or after.
>>
>>337383074

>Tech
Good firepower and army equipment in general, due to the fact they have very, very few soldiers to equip compared to other factions. On this map, the Tau Empire is contained within the Ultramar sector (under control of Ultramarines). The Tau "Empire" is smaller than a Space Marine single Chapter's domain. They're pretty much irrelevant, despite what annoying weeaboos want to tell you.
>>
>>337384350
They seem to embrace tech a lot more, considering their only real threat is their weaponry and tactics. I'd say they utilize tech more than any other race simply because they have no splicing or crazy spirit powers or WAAAGH, etc...

infantry firepower is high.
titan tier firepower, absolutely pathetic.

regular tau weapons are equivelant to imperial plasma guns, the imperium's heavy infantry killer. theyre more stable too.
But it takes several of the heaviest Tau ground unit to take down even a single Titan.

Their fleet is also relatively really small and arent very capable of dealing with shit like boarding should the enemy actually be able to get close enough.

As far as scale, they are tiny. Their empire is about as big as the realm of Ultramar, the worlds under the Ultramarine's protection.

the drones they use have basic AI, but they have been linking them together to get more processing power out of them. theyre going to link up too many and create a genuine, self aware AI. Without an organic component to protect it from the Warp. (like Servitors do)
they're going to see a daemonic posession of a network of a massive number of drones, and it'll be nearly impossible to kill it since the Tau use those same drones to contruct the factories that build more drones.

age of sigmar isnt just bad because it simplified the game, it blatently targets a different audience and left its old fanbase in the dust. But it also completely changed everything about fantasy. Dorfs arent dorfy, theyre some kind of native south/central american thing.
All humans are now spess mehreens because spess mehreens sell better than any of their other lines, etc.

Even if people like the change of rules (which I dont think they do) they dont like what they did to the world of fantasy. Its much more something Blizzard would put out. Whether its bad or not isnt really relevant because its just not what the fanbase wanted.
>>
>>337385232

Or they could survive and make a triumphant return to glory when their penance crusade is finally over.

I really, REALLY hope they make it through somehow, They've been through so much shit it wouldn't be fair to just let them die like dogs. They deserve better than that.

Salamanders and Lamenters chapters are considered to be the only true good guys in the 40k universe
Tau as well, but their "greater good" has a huge shadow behind it etc.

Salamanders put huge weight on their family ties and good deeds etc.
While Lamenters do everything in their power to do the right thing and help the ones without power, even if it means their own deaths in the end. They are cursed with THE worst luck of anyone in the 40k universe. All of their stories are filled with tragic outcomes.

Oh yeah, them too definitely.

Ultramarines are good, but as in good by the book. Codex astartes, regulations etc. They are highly depenable, but horribly bland compared to everyone else, where their only flaw is that they are too damned perfect.

Blood Ravens tend to be nice, you just end up a with some random stuff missing all of a sudden when they leave

Space Wolves just wanna party all day

Dark Angels are basically dark and brooding crusaders repenting for their past mistakes by purging all evil and pledging their full allegiance to the emperor

Blood angels are the chapter that the Lamenters came from, but yeah, they suffer from the black rage so whenever they aren't going full blown berserk mode they are fairly kind and honorable.

Imps are just normal humans, just another cog in the warmachine. Highly expendable compared to the superhuman warriors out there.

>"If you don't serve on the battlefield, then you will serve on the firing line"
etc.
There's plenty of good guardsmen companies, but there's also plenty of the grimdark ones.

Just go link surf the companies on the lexicanum or a wiki to learn more about them, there's an extreme variety to each of the companies, a lot of them taking direct inspiration to real life stuff.

My favorite being the 597th Regiment of the Valhallan Ice Warriors where Commisar Ciaphas Cain serves, probably the only Imperial commisar with fucking common sense and that actually cares for his men and women serving under him. The company itself is pretty neat as well, as its 2 regiments combined into one because they suffered to big of losses to recooperate, so they combined them into one. Catch is that they were one male only and a female only regiments, so lots of shenanigans there.

Then go for Tau because they can get bullshit with their ranged weaponry and their stealthy shit. Get the bonus that allow you to start with a pre-built base and the bonus that allow you to attack twice in a turn, those are really broken.
Specialize your squad instead of giving them different heavy weapon.
Scout sniper rifle are good but they shouldn't be your main attack force, use them as fire support or for scouting and picking some isolated enemies.
Honor Guard are not so usefull and will mainly be used for capping.
