As for topic of thread, an action survival rpg with permadeath where you play as a class of boys in a post apocalyptic city, scavenging for weapons and clothes to use while fighting/running/hiding from powerful demons that can kill them easily and brutally. Your goal is to keep as many alive as you can, for as long as you can, while exploring the world for food, weapons, clothes and shelter. The boys would also have unique personalities and constantly shifting relationships with the other boys that you also have to try to manage, in order to prevent chaos within the group.

A single player war game with a rpg styled group based system, without all of the gimmicks. It would be very story based and massive in terms of actions taken/effect in a modern world.

Kinda like FFXV/type-0 but with everyone being actual soldiers, with guns, no magic or bullshit. The difference would be how to story progressed with the characters affecting the options available, and perma-death being a key factor.

the "classes" are just hacks. Speed hacks, wall hacks, aim hacks, etc. The aim would be to have each class as imbalanced as possible but not any better than another, so team comp and strategy/skill would still win out. Maybe there would be ultimates or skills you could use without a cooldown, but if used too much you are briefly "banned."

Part of the UI would look like a stream overlay, and each team would have a randomly generated country and e-sports name.

Turn Based Tactics game (in the vein of Fire Emblem) where environmental manipulation is key. There are layers to the battlefields, including sky, water, and underground, and you have to manage some or all of them to complete the objective.

There would be a minimum of RNG, or at least, none that is required -- one idea I had is a class skill that can potentially hit thrice, each hit less likely than the last, but you can also just use a normal attack that will always hit in range.

There would also be no EXP, or a different way to upgrade units, because I want the main objective in the map to be the focus. Too many times in strategy RPGs it's tempting to rout the enemy even if you don't have to, because otherwise you miss out on EXP and your units are weaker for it. I want it so that engagement is highly likely, but not desired, and a skilled player can manipulate the situation to minimize contact (there would be some stealth elements as well).

I do want the units to grow, though, so I'd have to figure out a way to do that. Maybe map clear EXP that doesn't change based on performance, so expedient completion is desirable, especially since I plan on some weapon degradation.

Units are fixed characters like in FE. Each one has an individual set of side events, and completing all of them is required for true end. You can also use your units as bait and kill them with attached explosives or poisons, and you can use it to permakill enemy generals to make subsequent maps easier. But would I let it happen whenever the player wishes, or only at fixed areas? All I know is that the game will encourage it, and it will have to be tough enough to make killing your units tempting, or make the consequences low. (One idea I have is to receive a robot copy of the unit you killed, but it can't learn any more skills, so you would theoretically want to get all of their skills and subclass, get them loyal to you, then murder them to take out the enemy boss.)

I wanted to make a Megaman Zero/X/Super Metroid & Fusion/ Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game that fuses all sorts of Platforming goodness. Exploration, Bosses, Speed, weapons and difficulty. Then I realized...What would I accomplish with no team to like the idea of 9 planets each with their own types of powers in which you can choose a different character to battle the 8? or more Bosses to obtain their Abilities/weaponry/Armor/Skills/Strengths and weaknesses.

Like say you diffeated the corrupted Aqua boss. You would retain powers to swim underwater fast. Obtain a Dual Trident that can launch its spears from the tip, Armor to negate water/Ice and Fire attacks but doubles weakness to Grass and Electricity.

I just need a team to work with and I have no moneys.

As you build faith in yourself, you get more powerful, and the tasks laid before you get tougher. You can customize appearance and power types and cool stuff.

It's not really fleshed out, but I have I vague idea for something.

I want to see a 3d platformer in the vein of Mario 64, with more fleshed out movement controls and a lot of work put into the animations to give every movement a really strong sense of weight and momentum.
I realized this was something I really wanted after I saw gameplay footage for Hat in Time and Yooka Laylee, where the animations are really fucking flacid and the jumps are too floaty. Another problem I had was that the levels looked too flat, too large, and too stretched out, without a lot of opportunities for platforming, so I want the level design to be a return to Mario 64's form too: smaller scale, with emphasis on finding the quickest way to the end. Maybe with a Dustforce style scoring system at the end which factors in time.

I'm dabbling in modeling and animation right now, but game design and coding are way out of my wheelhouse, so I'm not too concerned with developing it any time soon.

Also, I just want a game with an afrobeat soundtrack.

it's been done repeatedly. asymmetrical games are very hard to sell in general, and the symmetrical versions which have been done (eg. The Ship, Bloody Good Time, etc.) have been doomed from the start by their hardcore indie status and ultimately competing with the big leagues.

it will happen as a game mode for some other game. and has happened as such, eg. murderer for garrys mod (and all the similar, there are quite a few).

I had an idea for a superhero that I was going to draw a couple of webcomics about, but it might work as a movement mechanic for an open world game.

His name is Momento, and can change the direction of his body's momentum instantaneously. He can mitigate long falls by immediately shifting his movement forward before he lands, turning into a fast run, or he can change his direction upwards, making a pogo action. You could add some risk/reward things in there too. The closer you are to the ground when you switch, the more speed you have, but the higher the chance of taking fall damage if you miss. I was also thinking of including a motorcycle, so you could build up horizontal speed before you transferred it to vertical, meaning pretty precise driving would be required to build enough speed to reach higher places.

I tried drawing concept art for the character, but the only drawings that weren't shit just looked like clones of Helmet from Hotline Miami.

A world war 2 massive multiplayer FPS that spans the entire eastern front with a complete chain of command, where the high command would issue orders to army group commanders which in turn would relegate those orders further down the line to the specific armies and the very divisions and soldiers compromising them.

The game would also feature a logistic system as well as some kind of requisition system which would serve as an abstraction of the industrial capacity of a country which in turn would force players to be conservative with manpower and material.

yeah, i've had some a couple great mmo experiences when i was younger. when i played maplestory long ago with my friend, i even liked grinding. everything felt "to scale". real big world, real hard work, had to buy a ticket and wait for a ship to arrive, then wait on the ship to reach the destination. everything took time.
there was a great skill progression from mundane to cuhrazy, and seeing high level people was always motivating to do the fucking hard work to reach that. it all felt like a real journey to me. plus all the numerous interactions with other people, the tricks, the "robberies", all that shit which is only possible in a fairly freeform multiplayer game like that.
mmos have a lot of potential but unfortunately for one reason or another they haven't done so well with it.

One boss idea I had based on this concept was a battle against a sea serpent or some other sea monster. The battle would take place on the ocean surface, where there's a bunch of destroyed ships. There's a thunderstorm and tons of wind. You can "see" the wind and transform into it, and use it to blow ships that still have sails into the monster. When lightning strikes near you, you can turn into that and electrocute the boss.

This could be a totally shit idea in practice, but in my head it seems good.

It's a game that has two windows open and works best with two monitors.

The first window is a coding terminal, and the second window is camera footage from inside a mecha hangar. Your job is to help program the mechs for soldiers, collect intel during battles, and to stop enemy forces from hacking into the terminal.

There could be one part where everything's going fine and then the terminal pops up a shitton of error messages and an ASCII smiley face makes a low-bitrate, creepy laughing sound. Then the game crashes.

Man, I've been thinking up up a game for a few years now, it'll be like tactics ogre, without the class leveling and crafting.
It would branch out. I kind of wanted to have like a law, neutral and chaotic theme, with law representing nobles, neutral representing the common man and chaotic as outlaws, outsiders and anarchist. They each would have different routes (chaotic would be with rebels tired of the nobles rule, and opportunist etc). They would each have their own unique troupes. I don't want too many units on the battlefield, so making a lot of named characters would be less than stellar. I do like the earlier fe games, suikoden and games that have all named characters, but I dunno. Also be unsure about the law, neutral chaotic system, as it feels unnatural, but I got so many classes for each of then.
There would be magic, but no evil for evils sale bad guy or monster man out to destroy the world plot, as they would change depending on the route and thus their priories. Got lots of lore and character written, silly as I know it will never come to fruition

My idea is stolen from another anon who posted a while ago. It is basically and exploration game of an alien space station and revolves around finding things on the ship and getting deeper and deeper.
The items can be sold to increase oxygen, increase headlamp light or even so you can pass certain obstacles.
I see it as mainly just being eery and creepy as you reach closer and closer to the center of the station.
