Characters and story are worse than AC3, I am not exaggerating. Nearly the entire game is Arno wanting to get his dick wet with Templar pussy while there's infighting on both sides and Arno can suck out memories like Alex Mercer by stabbing people which is what propels the plot.
The actual game itself is a crazy good improvement over the previous one and it pretty much forces you to use stealth now instead of just kind of. Until you reach the end levels you will get your shit pushed in by more than four or so soldiers, and even end game it's basically a ballerina dance just to survive at times.
Black Flag has some okay characters and an enjoyable story, but you're stuck with Edward being a prick for nearly the entire game. There's a good amount of tailing missions and a bunch of the islands feel much of the same, but I thought it was pretty enjoyable besides that.

Shay's betrayal is terrible, they just straight up reversed the order of Templars being bad guys and Assassins being good guys and it shows hard, especially when half your teammates just constantly talk about how nothing matters and you get insulted but then you turn to the Templars and it's like "We're the happiest group in the world! Those meany Assassins are bad guys, you should stop them!" Shay's betrayal in the first place is asinine. So you're telling me this guy spent months on a ship ride back to Achilles being able to think over what just happened day after day and what he'd say. As soon as he lands he bolts over to Achilles and bitches him out, and then Achilles uses his rank for some reason despite wanting to hear what Shay had to say, and then the girl and his best friend go "Dude, no, what's wrong with you"? Then you want me to believe that rather than sleeping on it, he'd just immediately betray everyone and then Achilles would expect this so he'd try murdering him the same day? Even then it's not like Achilles had anything planned, they were going to send out people to find the third site but it's not like it was going to be the next day or anything, they had a while.
But okay, he betrays them. He's now taken into a group whose every member acts like a patron saint just to turn you over to liking them. All the Assassins do is constantly speak in vague terms just to justify what Shay is doing instead of just talking like adults, and all the Templars do is sweet talk him constantly. Hell, they tell Shay the poison girl is making gasses and "She might do something bad with them!" when the Assassins do their best to limit civilian bloodshed and he knows this, and he's alright with just killing her outright.

Shay is literally "I make my own luck" and speaks in vague terms about how he trusts the Templars because they spent five minutes pampering him. He doesn't even agree with their motivations, in the end when he kills Arno's dad he just talks about how he writes his own path.
Granted, Edward for most of the game is a drunk pirate who has no empathy for anyone, kills indiscriminately for barely any Reales, doesn't give a damn if he sells people out to anyone, and so on. But he grows as a person, realizes his wrongs after essentially being left for dead by Adewale I think it was, and rights his wrongs, eventually becoming a man who fights for what he thinks is the right path for life.

What quality? Most of the missions where just sitting back using the berserk dart on everything because you couldn't be spotted and everyone looked at you if you were to kill anyone at all, the missions themselves were dicking around for one mission then the next two were hunting someone you didn't care for at all because they did something vague, and then you just repeat that until endgame.

In what way is the notoriety system revamp and the horrendous assassin hunting system an opinion? If anything the only opinion is on the Legendary Ship mission.
The notoriety system in BF was basic but it worked. You sunk enough ships, bounty hunters came after you. If you killed the bounty hunters then more came after you unless you used the ship itself to lower your bounty. Meanwhile in Rogue you shoot any ship at all and now you have a bounty on your head, ships will nonstop come sailing towards you from different directions to get into a fight with you. If they get too close it's impossible to escape by sail because you can't go at travel speed in a battle, so it's either fight them and raise the bounty more which doubles the amount of bounty ships and raises their level, or it's try and zone out somehow. If you do manage to escape by travel speed then there's always a chance one will just spawn on the horizon of the direction you are sailing in to start the cycle over again, and you have to be out of sight for ages(Something like 5 to 10 minutes total?) just to drop a bounty even if you did escape, and getting into line of sight triggers them again.
Assassins are terrible, they appear every two blocks in main cities and require you to go the long way around to kill them for a minute of reprieve, or you face them head on and risk getting guards on your ass. It was a pain in the ass and added nothing but tedium.

The only thing you could say was obviously wrong was with the slave trade where Adewale freed them and then others would just get sent straight back into it. The Indian guy just tried to get the Indians on the Assassin side, the girl made some unknown gas for some reason, I recall Gist I think it was explaining what the other use would be outside of mass poison(Mass sleep or something?), the mercenary worked both sides, ship guy was just an ass as a person but transported cargo, and best friend just seemed to assassinate people.

I used it in tandem with stabbing, the problem came from not using it since all forts were built with enemies looking directly at each other so you're have to sleep one and stab another and deal with the bodies, or just berserk them all.

Because it's irritating. It's irritating to get the "There's an assassin around" message literally every two blocks, it's irritating to have to escape or kill all guards to get back to what you were doing because of a stray assassin who you have to go out of your way to kill otherwise they stab you in the back if you let them or throw you to the ground which immediately starts a guard fight, and repeat this over dozens of hours.
Just because it's easy doesn't mean it's not a pain in the ass and annoying to deal with every two minutes.
