I had more trouble with Nameless, mainly because his second form has lots of health; I had drawn out fights as I'm lazy.

Nameless King isn't difficult. He's a typical boss from the other Dark Souls games. He just seems difficult because all of the other bosses are so easy.
He would be considered an easy boss in even Dark Souls 2. In fact, he reminds me a lot of the Old Dragonslayer, who is just as hard but isn't considered so in 2 because of the relative difficulty of everything else.
Pontiff, Nameless and Aldrich were the only bosses worthy of a Souls title. The rest were chumps. The skeleton with the bracelets, Vordt, Crystal Sages, the giant ballsac tree - all boring and easily defeated in less than 60 seconds.

Everything in this game was brain dead easy. I grinded up to 50 vigor and 40 strength, and just tanked everything with a greatshield.
I was so close to beating Nameless king on my first try. Then after that it took me a long long time to win. The same thing happened with Flamelurker in DeS.

Champ isn't particularly hard
Nameless King involves a tedious dragon-slaying before you even get to fight him and if you don't keep your distance it's easy to get fucked up by a combo
That's because Gundyr had more responses to people rolling than any boss in the game.
Almost all the bosses in 2 and 3 are tank/roll and spank because the shitty fanbase worships O&S and bitch about bosses having gimmicks and would rather have the same boring fight ten more times than something interesting

Nameless King is basically DaS3's Smelter Demon.
If you learned how to dodge he's a cake walk.
Since most casuals are used to just block all the time they find bosses that actually require using of the games' mechanics hard.

Nameless King, Pontiff Sulayvahn, champion gundyr, dancer of the boreal valley, dragonslayer armour, twin princes, abyss watchers, aldrich and soul of cinder are all more mechanically complex, mechanically unique, challenging and aggressive than anything in dark souls 2.

The only time I got close was abyss watchers, where I ran out of estus. Just beat this "boss" and it was a complete joke.

Made a pyromancer and put a point in dex to one hand the sword but ain't going to touch str or dex anymore.
I enjoyed gundyrs fight much more. Nameless King seemed like a very souls boss. Gundyrs change to being ultra aggressive in second phase was fun. Also I love getting kicked in the face when I try to circle strafe because it shows they actually learned a bit from their previous games, dark souls 2 especially.

Nameless King is one of those boss fights where I know I can win, but it just takes so long and I really can't be arsed with the time it takes to kill him so I summoned two guys to beat the fuck out of him so I could get my Swordspear quicker.

You want difficulty, you can have some easily shithead. That's as simple as that. If you play with a greatshield with a straight sword even though people have kept saying it is overpowered and break the game, you have no rights to complain.
I beat my first playthrough blind with twinblades and no shield, the challenge was pretty decent. Stopped leveling anything but vigor after level 47 to do some fashion souls and I had a great time. Finished the game at SL 66 and it just felt right.

I really like that this game lets you choose your own difficulty when playing.
