That does not help a lot when you're in melee range. You can't attack with it on, you can only block the front and you're likely to be flanked because you're in melee range, and people can melee you because you're in melee range. Using deflect effectively in that range requires skill.

My friend played pretty much only McCree and only one ult stood out where he got 5 people. The rest was hours of swearing and fucked up ults.
That said i reached lvl 20 and got 3 legendary skin including one McCree while he was 40 and had none.

Switching characters and then waiting for their ultimate to charge up and then hoping it goes off as you plan and then still expect to have enough time to win the game is a bit much. This game is way too fast paced for it to work most of the time.

It was the opposite for me, though really late in the beta I kept getting matched up with players half of my level. I was 30 and most of the players on my team would be 15 or less.
Tbh, it wasn't Bastion that gave me problem as it was with Torb's fucking turrets. The tracking and range should be reduced on them in the very least. The map designs just exacerbated the issue. A lot of them, with the worst being Hanamura, that just funnel the attacking team into one area.

Or if he's being protected by a Reinhardt while on top of a payload.
Only certain ults can counter him then, and I've seen Junkrat tires just get shot when trying to attempt to dislodge that combo. Hanzo's is most effective.

Yep, that's probably the most unbalanced thing about Bastion is that you can't just shake him from a point with small amounts of damage. You have to blow him up really quickly or he just shrugs it off and heals to full. A sniper that catches some rocket or grenade splash damage will be sent running to get a health kit.

I don't really care about getting commendations, but I've never been commended with five points ever despite several times being the reason why we finally broke through that chokehold thanks to me sneaking behind it and picking off the enemy team. No one really notices shit like that and seems to not realize why they suddenly got through. Instead all commendations just go to mercy or the bastion that got the potg.

I've gotten a PotG as Torbjorn while dead on Route 66. The enemy team entered the final chokepoint (the tunnel) and they were all slaughtered by my turret because they didn't fucking look up. I've gotten at least PotG as Mercy during the beta.
What you also forget is that most of the 'offensive hero presses Q' PotGs happen in low-skill pub games. At higher levels, towards the end of the beta, I saw that less and less. For example, teams would immediately switch to a Reaper who was trying to run into their midst or they would scatter and pull back from a choke-/control-point when they heard the global shout from Hanzo's ult.
People learn and it changes the way the game is played. Getting wise on how to counter Bastion is one of the earliest steps and I rarely saw any succesful Bastion plays once I went past lvl20.
It also tells a lot that he is rarely used in competetive games, because once you have people with experience he's just not that good.

From what ive read and personal experience, POTG is based on a hidden score system accured through a certain length of time. The highest score of each person is saved and the highest score gets the play.
Score is calculated by the following mechanisms, distance to the target, speed at which target is moving, if it was a headshot, and distance from the point. More kill in succession give more points naturally, so it is common for a 4 player multikill to get play. This however is not always the case.
Bonus points are awarded for numerous reasons on top of these parameters, namely being "Lifesaver", "Shutdown", and "Sharpshooter" plays, as well as if the kills were obtained through the enivronment. If a play is obtained with these bonuses, it will say in tge highlight intro.
Taking a hypothetical situation, a Mcree at 12:00 kills 4 people as they are pushing through the bridge on anubis. That would count for Highscore, but would be a weaker highscore than Phara raining justice from above on last to take out 3 people and a turret. This is why bastions can get plays by standing on the point (bonus points) and shooting halfway across the map (more points) with only 3 kills and an assist.
I am unsure if victory has any bonus to POTG.

As someone said above, the Bastion probably got a higher 'score' because he was near the objective, so the game thought he was defending.
The game places a higher value on point-defense, enviromental kills, "fulfilling your role" etc. than mere kill-streaks.
It also seems to consider things like countering ults, being effective outside your role (i.e. multiple kills as Mercy while still healing, knocking people off cliffs as Lucio), distance to the target, shot accuracy and so on.

Yeah whenever I see a Genji come at me I just get up and reposition half the time. I love that Bastion can deploy and get up so fast. Not enough people utilize that strength that he has. Recon mode is actually really good.

But Genji can still move fine, and he has amazing mobility to begin with. Its a moot point when you can activate it while falling down on enemies and be ready to swing as soon as you land.

You're right about the others but Genji can easily wipe a team out on his own if he can get the drop on them and they don't have a defensive ult ready. McCree's is mostly useful for getting a guaranteed kill or two at mid to long range but a team can definitely take him out before he's locked on enough to wipe out the whole group, never mind a Reinhardt, Winston, or D.VA that can just nullify the attack completely.

I never said broken necessarily, there's plenty of counters(to a point - some choke points you can't sneak around, and if there's 2 and a Reinhardt shielding them it becomes a little more problematic, but that's going offtopic) - It's the simple fact that a Minigun. A notoriously "innacurate at long range" weapon, is pinpoint accurate miles away, as accurate as Widowmaker's rifle is, and more accurate than her smg is, and does more damage too. All they have to do is add some spread if nothing else and it'll be fine, like you said, anyone with skill can counter it, which is true! But he shouldn't coddle the skill-less players by having no spread.
Hook has a limited range. Sniper has to charge. Genji has to aim his reflect. Reinhardt's shield has to recharge. Bastion has to.. what, exactly? Be stationary while firing? Not really a balance for his power.
