Dunno. But I'm surprised how many women were on the staff of the old 80s and 90s Japanese games when I look into them. A bunch of the Capcom fighting game spriters were women, and going by what Akiman and others have said back then the indivdual spriters actually had a lot of say in the characters' designs, movesets, etc.
