Its just gonna be the Prince of Persia movie all over again, just an over all "meh" kind of movie
New animus seems needlessly convoluted. Only reason I can think of it being like that is that they want to train notDesmond's body as well as his mind by sending him back in the past, so that after they get the information they want out of him, they'll use him as an agent in the present.
Looks like a decent 5/10 same as Prince of Persia.

Ubisoft has been trying to make Spanish Inquisition shit forever. They once had fucking Production I.G. scheduled to do a 4 episode miniseries set during the Spanish Inquisition but that got shuddered and for whatever reason they ended up making that shitty Ezio dies CGI short.
Shame too since it was about an older Assassin lady rescuing a Templar kid and turning him into an Assassin. It was supposed to end with him assassinating her since she betrays the brotherhood.

>>337317235
The music is that distracting.
Personally, my complaint is that the fight scene at 1:18 seems really lackluster. If that's any indication of the fights in this movie, I don't have the highest of expectations.

Adding on to this, I've never liked how they turned the hidden blade into a weapon you could quite comfortably use in combat. In AC1, all you could do with it in combat was counter, the timing was hella tight compared to the other weapons, but the payoff was that it was always an instant kill. The assassins in the movie seem to be using their hidden blades to legitimately fight, which I don't like.
I'm getting the feeling that they gave him weapons because they are trying to train him in the real world so he can better sync with his past self in the animus.
Could be giving the movie too much credit though.

People act like this will be the music in the movie. What is hilarious is people saying that the music chosen doesn't "fit" the setting, when NO modern music would fit the setting.
When they used Woodkid's Iron, people generally regarded that well, but it didn't fit the sitting at all either.
"Poor fit for the setting" is just a roundabout way of saying "I hate hip-hop".

I bet my ass that Ezio will make a cameo. This movie is set in 1491, around the time that Ezio would have been well established as an Assassin. I believe in one of the books, or spinoff games he travelled to spain during the Spanish Inquisition.

Sure the gameplay tries to be stealthy but if you look at each assasination most of the time they don't give a flying fuck about being seen, they just try to not be seen BEFORE the kill

Such typical hollywood bullshit, always take such simple concepts and costumes and turns them into overdesigned bullshit.
Could be a decent movie, coluld be complete garbage, it's too early to tell. It has a much higher chance of being decent than warcraft does though at least.
>>337321059
To add to that , didn't every assasination in AC 1 was open air with people watching ?
The hospital guy , the slaver, the fat poison guy , the french templar... they all get killed in plain view, hell that's even why the "let's talk before you die "scenes were so ludicrous
>>337321235
Back during Revelations everyone thought that the sequels would follow Altair's son, and a couple of hints that the series would go to Egypt around ACIV's modern day Abstergo files.
Also, there was a cry to have AC "return to form"
Hopefully Ubisoft releases an online trailer on their site with better music. I won't watch the trailer until then, because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Do you know what the real problem with video game movies are?
Non of them are like the video games they are based on. They always change everything and make a completely different story.
This is why they are shit, if they stuck to how the game was they wouldn't be so bad. That is why Silent Hill is the best one, it is the only one that is as close to the game as possible.

The game itself was meh and the zipline while definitely helpful felt like a goddamn cheat since it essentially killed vertical parkour.
The characters were great though.
>>337323190
Oh I honestly thought the blue color was supposed to blend in with the blue metal roofs of Paris, while the shape itself was more similar to aristocratic attire. On the other hand there were many other colors like the dusty beige that blended in with the crowd better.
>>337322910
I have no clue, I live near where it was made and know people who worked on it. Seemed like a good buzz around it.
>>337310421
>Nigger screeching.
>Weightless fight scenes.
>Shit acting.
Holy fuck.
Although, the trailer has successfully warned me away from the film. So in that sense it was worthwhile.
>>337310421
I'm somewhat disappointed that the focus of the trailer is on the narrative conceit of the game; Desmond, the Animus, Abstergo. As opposed to being on the historical figures he meets and interacts with. I guess since it's a movie they feel that for people who go to see 'Assassin's Creed', getting to see 'When in the World is Carmen Santiago' would disappoint them.
>>337323443
>>337323182
I feel like the trailers would just get viraled due to fans hating on the music and editing a slightly better one into it.
>>337323549
>As opposed to being on the historical figures he meets and interacts with
Assasins Creed went to shit when it started focusing on historical fan service for plebs
>>337323190
The worst part about Unity's colors was that they were SO fucking bright. Other than that, customization was great and I am so disappointed that Syndicate had a major downgrade.
The assassin uniforms have looked progressively dumber in every game past 2.
>>337323602
So after the first game then?
Historical fanservice is the O N L Y good thing about the series.
>>337323602
Hmm; I suppose you might be right, if and only if in AC1 all the Templar assassination targets were entirely fictional; I found them the most interesting.
>>337323532
Why the fuck would he need to blend in with the rooftops? The National Guard isn't in helicopters
>>337323638

>>337311924
Gema Arterton was a babe and the opening battle scene was fun.
Otherwise it was honestly complete gutter trash. All they had to do was copy/paste the timeless tale of tragedy from the original video game.
They couldn't even do that.
>>337323661
Da Vinchi was the only big history character in 2, and he was given some actual focus instead of just being trotted out because people knew him
>>337323602
This , your targets in 1 were fucking nobodies for the most part and the assassins were a bunch of fucks in a temple so there was no "current day" judgement being passed on the setting

>>337323684
>Why the fuck would he need to blend in with the rooftops? The National Guard isn't in helicopters
Well, there's a shitload of pretty high guard towers with riflemen. Also, thanks to the blue he wasn't so easy to spot on the horizon of the roofs, which, mind you, weren't exactly flat, and often had nearly vertical parts.
Also I feel like the blue/red/white colors were just there to give him the look of the french flag.
>>337323708
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpO8BO6GWSM here you go friend
I'll watch it after the patch comes out
Of course it does, I mean the AC games don't even have a good story to begin with, whoever thought it was a good idea to make a movie out of it clearly doesn't realize how disliked the games really are.
>>337323772
Eh.
Medici.
The pope.
Machiavelli.
>>337323818
But Unity has very little rooftop guards
>>337323638
Unity's outfits were superior to all the other ones.
Also AC3 had a pretty cool fucking outfit. Definitely good for the savage killer type.
>>337323620
Yeah I'm surprised about Syndicate's customization downgrade. Then again, Syndicate was a shameless cash in that was less enjoyable than Revelations and Rogue.
>no Gucci
why?
>>337314886
He doesn't know.
It's just easier to rhyme God with God.
Of course niggers and the like will see deep meaning in literally any jumbled combination of words, so I assume he was/is a mildly successful noisemaker.
>>337323848
All small side characters (besides the pope, whose name nobody remembers anyway). The presence of historical characters wasn't the focus, and none of them would have made it into the trailer
>>337323772
You didn't play the game then?
>>337323868
It has quite many actually. But mostly in the missions. Bastille had many of them but also the Napoleon protection co-op missions had a lot of them.
>>337323835
>clearly disliked
>sells like pancakes and has a steady but declining fanbase
It would be easier to sell a story on a movie, seeing as how they tried to make it way too cinematic in some of the games like ACIII.
>>337323886
Of course, Syndicate did do some pretty neat things, like auto-looting people when assassinating them, and the various perks were fun too, but holy fuck you got overpowered first.
Assassin's Creed desperately needs difficulty options. I love the series, but it's so casual it hurts. Why not just give some optional settings to increase guard hp/damage, sight range, etc. Customizable difficulty is god-tier
>I am a Gah
>Even though I'm a man of gah
>Ma whole life in the hana gah

>>337323946
You sure caught me sport
>That shit music
>>337310421
I love how absolutely no one in this fucking trailer is wearing white. How do you fuck up something so basic?
Also what's the point of the sci fi bullshit? It kind of made sense in the games because you were playing them, but it doesn't make sense in a movie. Are we going to watch a guy watching a guy? Is he actually going to be in control? What's even going on? And it really looks like they're going for the "pshh, nothing personal kid" angle instead of making cool fights, but I guess we can't tell that for sure in the trailer.
Still this just looks bad.
>>337324047
forgot the template of god assassin
So is the Animus a huge VR room with a mechanical arm?
Does he reinact everything moving around? I wonder what year this is supposed to take place, since that's totally unlike any animus in the games.
I think this is sort of a reimagining of the series.
>>337323943
It helps if you play the games you shitpost about.
>>337324136
You do realize that they stopped making white hoods a must in the games, right?

>>337323772
>Vinchi
Oh my god, go hang yourself with some rusty barbwire.
>>337324195
Oh yeah, that's another thing Syndicate did good.
Hoods were only for sneaking around enemies, and you couldn't blend in with crowds at all with them. That's how it should have always been.
>>337324136
Even the games realized that giving a society of secret assassins a fucking bright matching uniform was retarded

>>337324519
Yeah but the main outfit was always white except for the brief period when it wasn't.
>>337324429
Well it depends, really. They'll probably do white hoods for the modern day parts. They even made a small reference to the white hoods in Rogue in the Abstergo Employee Manual where "if you see a fellow employee wearing white-gray hoodies and has a preference to such over umbrellas, do not hesitate to contact human resources."

It looked like an execution escape though.
>>337325229

I didn't like his revelations outfit, didn't look assassin enough even though it's obviously more realistic.
>>337310421
Liked the series better when it felt that assassins were a small community of people. With each new character it makes the enter assassin thing feel less unique.
Sad how the attention to children's ADD affects characters now instead of just the gameplay or plot. Not a fan of a new nobody important thats not even close to being badass or as likeable as the original 2 assassins.
So glad I stopped playing after 3. Altair, Ezio and relics of eden.

Most of the AC trailers have had "out of place" music
I mean I like Woodkid but that's hardly "fitting" to the time periods in the games. Hell they've had a Lorde song for fuck's sake.
>>337331871
The slide was cool as hell when someone was escaping and you just ran after him and immediately shot him.
I swear Unity had some of the best animations I've seen in any game.
Look good, except for the nigger aquaman that married a midget soundtrack.
>>337332048
It's visually amazing but the substance is clunky and needed more work.
>>337331962
The tone of the music in game trailers fits with the setting unlike the movie trailer. Like how Revelations has that calmness in the beginning, slowly rising up during the battle. Lourde's lyrics fit with the game's theme and the tune went with each action piece. Then there's Syndicate which didn't fit a bit as well with the lyrics but still managed to do justice with the tune of it.

Unity's harder because the enemies' attacks actually depletes your health bar far faster than before, and snipers can kill you in two shots, one if you've been hit with a melee before. Special guards are a bitch to kill because they dodge around and throw flash bangs at you. It's boring all in all but a fresh system compared to counter kill counter
If you get bored though, just shoot them with your pistol twice and make a run for it.

>>337310421
wow, the fight choreography and free running look like shit
it's the exact moves from the game, but it seems they couldn't achieve the same fluidity with stuntmen and it's underwhelming
>>337335017
All that's confirmed is that each game save for AC1 took place in the same year it's released. While it wasn't specific, it's safe to say that Desmond was at least in 2010 before the events of his death.
>>337335131
Parkour is alright. Fight scenes looks too quick and lacks impact but they're passable.
>>337310421
It doesn't look that bad.
The problem is they show the whole movie in the trailer.
>>337310421
>Altair/Ezio/Desmond as a white

Honestly Revelation had the best trailer. Though I did like the commericial for the first one with Teardrop by Massive Attack.

>Adam Sandler
>>337335265
Not really. The plot's still a mystery in both timelines and at best it's just "what happens in the beginning" that's explained. The rest is just acrobatics and robotics with some nods to the game.
Jesus christ I like Yeezy but that was an awful pick for this trailer.
Just get some more woodkid
>>337335324
The best part of the Revelations trailer was that it was completely canon and you start playing right after the trailer ends.
Also, letter to Claudia version:

>>337335445
The resemblance is...
>>337335445
fuck B Team for that
Revelations was hard ENOUGH to get through withOUT everyone (except Yusuf) looking like shit
>>337335512
Revelations did a lot of disappointing things, but they did a lot of right things as well.
>>337335270
The main character isn't Desmond
I think it looks fucking amazing. Actual parkour, effective-looking action, serious actors, beautiful landscapes, atmosphere resembling the first game, everything you could expect from an AC. And no, it doesn't give PoP vibes at all.
>>337335631
Desmond/Altair and Ezio all use the same guy as a face model
Unless it isnt any of the three, they have no excuse
>>337335590
Altair and his son were stiff as fuck, Maria became a brunette and Ezio looked way too different.
Sofia, the Sultan's son and Yusuf were alright.
>>337335532
Revelations Desmond looks so shitty
>>337335484
I'm trying to think of another song from The Golden Age that might fit, and I'm drawing a bit of a blank. All I can really think of is Ghost Lights and/or Run Boy Run. I haven't heard his new stuff yet, so maybe one of those would work better.
>>337335702
They lost the rights to the face in Revelations, hence the big change.
Also, the main guy isn't Ezio.
>>337335702
It isn't, thats what I'm saying. The main character is an OC called Callum Lynch/Aguilero.
They're not adapting AC1, they're making another story set in the same universe
>>337335702
It isn't any of the three.
>>337335601
I seriously like that game a lot (it helps that I played Brotherhood several years before it). I feel like it received so much negativity mostly because it was the point where AC became a yearly franchise and people were starting to get tired of the same rehashed formula.
>>337335753
A light remix of AC1's chase theme would've been better.
>>337335702
It's not any of the three, are you an idiot?
>>337335705
Old Man Ezio had the eyes of a 90 year old. If only he'd kept the ponytail or something
And yeah, Suleiman actually did look good. Maybe Ubi was trying too hard to make Desmond-line look 'accurate' Clay/Darim was awful because of it
>>337310421
I won't even comment about the music but the fight scenes look ass.
>>337335705

It can't be bad, it has Fassbender in it.

oh well that's good. I havent looked into this since its casting of whats-his-face
>Callum

>>337335893
well.... The ingame fighting looks ass too. So it stays true to the game.
>>337335826
I won't deny, I enjoyed it a lot purely out of how beautiful it looks and how much fun it was to run around in than in ACBrotherhood. It also was more "Brotherhood" than ACB itself thanks to the recruit missions.
>>337335912
They both have their strengths and losses. Ezio couldn't bring Cristina with him and if he did, he would've probably lost her through his constant flirting and if he stopped flirting, would've probably made her lonely since he was rarely around. It's sad though that Cristina was so in love with Ezio that she decided to marry a guy who looked and dressed a bit like Ezio
>>337310421
>couldn't even get the animus right

>>337336221
They used it too canonically. One obscure favorite was the italian Courtesan who dressed differently, became a templar, betrayed, became an assassin and died getting raped by Cesare.
>>337335512
Old Eizo's voice is pure sex. I just realised how much I missed it after boring protagonists in AC3 and later.

You never flip in the air in AC. There's literally no fuking point doing it for parkour purposes.
>>337336653
And Kyle Crane in Dying Light.
>>337310568
>when song started to kick in
It looks pretty awesome, desu. Could do without the whole "present day soldiers" thing. I'm guessing the animus trains him in real life and the final battle takes place in real life and he escapes, setting up for a sequel where he can recruit other assassins.

why do you feel the need to try go and layout the movie from finish to end in a small post, do you have autism?
>>337337832
I actually really liked his voice work in Dying Light. Also, it's relevant because it's a parkour game too.
>>337337972
it's three sentences featuring opinion, preference and speculation. If it's autism, it would be a wall of text stating everything right and wrong to the littlest possible detail.
Is Michael Fassbender really that desperate for work?
>>337338330
Hardly. He and his creative team was approached by Ubisoft seeing how the Macbeth movie was a success. Besides, he has X-Men to milk if ever he needs work.
>>337338409
I guess he just doesn't really understand the context of video game movies then.
Surely one of his hollywood friends must have told him about them.
>>337338456
He probably has, but then again with Warcraft being planned at the time by Blizzard themselves, when Ubisoft finally got the rights to do their own movie without hollywood tampering as was done to say Tekken and Hitman, I guess there's this one glimmer of hope where they might actually pull it off.
>>337310421
I wonder if they'll bring up the apple/all the alien Jesus shit
from the trailer it looks like they're training multiple guys. I'm assuming that Movie Abstergo just wants to train Assassins to fight for them and do bad shit
>>337338608

-the actual movie itself
-cameo but not really relevant.

>>337338654
I'm sure the main characters will be using apple products though.
>>337310421
Why the fuck do they keep trying.
Both this and Warcraft look fucking terrible.
There is nothing this movie could have done to receive a positive reception here, therefore all criticism is void.
>>337338683
>Terry Pratchett
I've read like fucking five books that have done more or less the same, including the motherfucking count of Monte Christo, it's not a particularly original way to remove a guy from official records.

>they stole a plot point from 5 books
That's even worse.
>>337310421
>Shit series becomes shit movie

>>337338801
>why do they keep trying
Because one's bound to break the curse. If no one tried, progress would've been less exemplary
>>337338952
Not really. Cliches are done here and there. It's no surprise but neither is it worse.
>>337339000
The problem is that to break they curse they should put some effort.
They always just throw some mildly famous actor, or some decent director, and completely half-ass everything else, so you end up with a 4/10 at best movie.
Music was terrible.
Animus looks terrible.
The rest looks decent.
>>337339061
It's pathetic to steal a plot point from 5 books.
>>337338801
>Ratchet and Clank

Hundreds of movies have done the same while twisting it in their own setting and the plot point is pretty minor in a way that it's just describing the character's predicament but in no way would it be the main plot of the movie.
>>337310421
I might go see it if it gets stellar reviews but to be honest I don't care about Assassin's Creed's story. Shit I have 95% of the trophies in Brotherhood, it's the closest I have ever gotten to getting a Platinum trophy, and even still I have 0 interest.
>>337339320

>>337338801
Was Tomb Raider really that bad?
>>337310421
The music is garbage and unfitting but I this movie doesn't look nearly as bad as Warcraft. It looks alright.
>>337310421

>>337339559
It's okay if you just want to rub one out to prime Angelina Jolie, but otherwise it's just a B-tier action movie.
>Not the middle east
>Generic American instead of that Muslim dude
>Focus on battles instead of assassinations
>No mention of the stupid alien shit
I don't know what I expected.
>>337339091
The chief problem is that the movies are given to studios and directors who don't know the source material at all, or what makes it popular and just follow what they imagine is the recipe for success. The gaming company taking the creative control is certainly a big step in the right direction.
>>337339659
They went to Spain somewhere in Ezio's timeframe but past the point where he visited the country during ACII.
As for the alien shit, they're probably saving that for the movie rather than just sayit outright in a fucking teaser.
>>337317850
>Seriously, How fucking hard is it to put a tiny little point in the hood?
This. It's as iconic as the hood itself - it's supposed to be the eagle's beak ffs
>>337331837
>thinks this is fat
Too much anime, lad.
>>337339780
Both of those make sense, but still.
Who are they saving the alien shit for? The only people that will want to watch these shitpiles already know about the alien bullshit because of the games, it's hardly a spoiler.
>>337317850
>>337339796
There's actually a very small point on it. Granted it's not that noticable but then again, not all assassin hoods were beaked.
>>337339874
There were audiences that were still shocked at the Winter Soldier's reveal despite the source material and the actor's interviews. There were still people who were shocked over GoT deaths during the early seasons.
Trust me, they'll save it for later especially since the alien shit is currently a mixed reception thanks to ACIII's jesus ending.
>>337340089
I don't think you can compare high budget, high production value, wide audience productions like GoT and Marvel shit to a movie adaptation of a video game.
>>337340089
>There were audiences that were still shocked at the Winter Soldier's reveal despite the source material and the actor's interviews
Didn't read the comics or watch interviews, even avoided trailers, and it was a pleasant surprise in the theater. I don't get why people would deliberately ruin for themselves an experience they've been waiting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDxJYNBF2N4
I don't know if this edit is better, but I don't know what the fuck is with marketing teams these days.
>>337340272
Well, with the amount of trailers and shit being blasted all around you, it's sort of difficult for high profile shit. And if you're a fan of Marvel shit, chances are you'd have read that shit before the movie was even announced (at least, I guess that's how it works. I'm not sure what was released first for that specific story).
>>337340181
The discussion was why hide the alien shit when you think that only videogame people would be interested. You know that Ubisoft is also aiming at the nonefans just interested in history movies and conspiracies. /v/ isn't the only disgruntled movie goer around the world, and being a video game movie, it has less buzz than easily spoilable high-budget shows and movies.
>>337340470
>You know that Ubisoft is also aiming at the nonefans just interested in history movies and conspiracies.
Yes, I just think that's not going to happen, and that they're stupid for thinking that.
>>337340425
With all the edits going around, I feel like Ubi's trying to viral the trailer by putting intentionally bad music in it.
>>337340564
You're just being overly pessimistic. You think on Tomb Raider they only had eyes for the video game fans alone? You think with the comic book capeshit they only wanted the fans who have read the source material? Hell even the opposite happened with Hitman where the fans specifically avoided the movie but made bucks over the "sharp-dressed assassin" demographic.
As much as I loathe video game films over the years, I still have this small gleaming hope over Warcraft and Assassin's Creed, and while the chance of them being not shit is slim, at least there's the results to look forward to in the coming months and weeks.
You can always know if a movie will be good or not if you look at the review scores for the director's other movies. Like the Ratchet and Clank movie I knew would be trash the moment they announced the director was some literally who with a bunch of 20% movies on RT. But this guy's movies are all 80% on RT. Soget hyped
>>337340752
>You're just being overly pessimistic.
Why?
>You think on Tomb Raider they only had eyes for the video game fans alone?
No, just like this one.
>You think with the comic book capeshit they only wanted the fans who have read the source material?
No, because they were able to market that to a bigger crowd, making it one of the larger movie kinds. I don't think this is a comparison yo can make.
>Hell even the opposite happened with Hitman where the fans specifically avoided the movie but made bucks over the "sharp-dressed assassin" demographic.
That's not the opposite of what you said. And that doesn't mean that a lot of people that didn't enjoy the video game went.
>>337340904
Just saying, Marvel treats most of the surprises, despite being spoiled in the comics, still as surprises in their movies. AC can do the same with their alien shit. If they don't want to have the alien shit until the sequels, it's their choice. Again, it's a teaser. Don't expect them to blow their load in 3 minutes worth, or expect complaints over "THE WHOLE MOVIE IN THE TRAILER" as what happened with BatmanVSuperman's Doomsday reveal.
Page 9
>>337341163
>Just saying, Marvel treats most of the surprises, despite being spoiled in the comics, still as surprises in their movies.
Why do you keep bringing Marvel up? It's unrelated.
>AC can do the same with their alien shit.
Sure, I'm saying I think that's not worthwhile though.
>Don't expect them to blow their load in 3 minutes worth
I'm not. I just don't see any reason for not addressing it in any form. It's not like the audience won't know about it.
>>337319960
>i hate watermelon
what a faggot
>>337321718
he read the reviews for BVS i assume
>>337341287
well before the thread expires
>why bring up marvel
because their movies, as I said before, have had the main plot point spoiled by the source material, and at best they don't care and still treat it as "something new". The argument with us is that Ubisoft keeping the alien shit a secret is bad because fans already know about it, but my response is that other movies with source materials likes to keep things low key despite semi-public knowledge BECAUSE they want it for the other audience to be a surprise.
>>337341464
But they're not related. It's not a comparison you can make. Like I've already explained, multiple times.
>>337341551
How so? Bigger crowds? It's an adaptation of a media franchise. Even if I don't mention marvel, hiding key plots for later use isn't anything new.
>>337341774
>How so? Bigger crowds?
Basically, yes. You could just read my previous posts.
