Ubisoft has been trying to make Spanish Inquisition shit forever. They once had fucking Production I.G. scheduled to do a 4 episode miniseries set during the Spanish Inquisition but that got shuddered and for whatever reason they ended up making that shitty Ezio dies CGI short.
Shame too since it was about an older Assassin lady rescuing a Templar kid and turning him into an Assassin. It was supposed to end with him assassinating her since she betrays the brotherhood.

Adding on to this, I've never liked how they turned the hidden blade into a weapon you could quite comfortably use in combat. In AC1, all you could do with it in combat was counter, the timing was hella tight compared to the other weapons, but the payoff was that it was always an instant kill. The assassins in the movie seem to be using their hidden blades to legitimately fight, which I don't like.
I'm getting the feeling that they gave him weapons because they are trying to train him in the real world so he can better sync with his past self in the animus.
Could be giving the movie too much credit though.

In AC1 assasin made it a point to make it known they were fucking shit up, one of the first trailer for assassin's creed 1 was Altair walking among the crowd and shooting a guy with a crossbow then running away out of sight

Unity's harder because the enemies' attacks actually depletes your health bar far faster than before, and snipers can kill you in two shots, one if you've been hit with a melee before. Special guards are a bitch to kill because they dodge around and throw flash bangs at you. It's boring all in all but a fresh system compared to counter kill counter
