I haven't played Overwatch so I can't comment on its viability in terms of competitiveness but considering Blizzard hasn't made a well made esport game since BW I somehow doubt it will have long legs in terms of a real scene.

The issue with SCII is that when Blizzard realized it wasn't taking off in Korea because the game is shit they slapped their dicks on the table and gave KESPA no choice but to include it in BW tourneys and nobody liked that. They had this weird fucking format where pro teams would play some matches in BW and others in SCII in the same tournament.
