There lives are devoted to battle, no Marine wants to retire. It's why most marines respect, but dread the idea of being in a Dreadnaught, cause you may be able to continue fighting on even after death, but outside of battle you're put to sleep.

If you're really good at your job as a Marine you might get to be invited into Deathwatch

>>
>>337211467

Yeah, when in battle, which is rare, because any Warboss/Warlord who has the resources to produce Deff Dreads usually sees them as incredibly valuable weapons and doesn't want to waste them in every battle, so they keep them chained up in a pen until they think it's proper to send them out. Outside of battle, being in a Deff Dread is a hell hole even for Orks

>The Kommandos set out in a looted Tau transport ship, using captured codes to approach the Vor’sanar dockyard under the pretence of having been damaged in an Ork raid and seeking safe harbour. The Tau were initially suspicious of the lone vessel limping into their station, but every demand for identification was met with a satisfactory response, and the idea that Orks could undertake such a ruse was unthinkable to the Tau. It was a horrific surprise then when the vacuum seals opened and Ork Kommandos poured out into the station. By the time the Tau had mustered to repel the invaders, the Kommandos had reached the station’s reactors. Smashing them to scrap, they set off a chain reaction, dooming the station and allowing Waaagh! Grog to ransack Vor’sanar and ultimately the entire sector.

>battle wounded
The terminally wounded, sure. It's lock them into the dreadnoughts life support or lose their wisdom and experience forever. The fact there's guns and shit on them is often of secondary concern. That's why Bjorn is more likely to be bought out of the freezer for story time than to fight.
>>
>>337211692
Chaos Marines value their freedom and senses above basically all else. Locking them in what is basically a sensory deprivation chamber drives them berserk, they still get to kill things but they can't feel or experience it in any meaningful way.

Out of combat they're chained down rather than put to sleep because they're constantly trying to kill anything that comes close so their downtime is even more infuriating

BUT WHY IS THE WRAITHKNIGHT BLEEDING?!
>>
>>337212146
So is there only one Primarch still not dead? Just in stasis?
>>
>>337211692
A Chaos Dread can come in a variety of horrifying ways, but usually it's a completely insane, infinitely angry Chaos Marine sealed up into a metal coffin (sometimes not even hooked up to the machinery inside) So you've got a crazy psychopath trapped in a little box forever, so they usually fly into horrifying berserk rages whenever they are given a chance to run free, and most of the time they fling themselves deep into the fight in hopes that they will finally be killed and put out of the misery of being in their prison. Some Dreadnaughts are actually Daemons, summoned inside the Naught via a sacrifice ritual, and are now trapped inside, so thats fun.

The Lion is asleep in the Rock. Khan is missing somewhere and has been hinted to be in the Dark Eldar slave pits being forced to fight. A number of Chaos Primarchs are now demons. Rowboat is asleep, unless it's actually Alpharius(Omegon) having pulled some kind of switcheroo. Russ is somewhere, he just up and left for a pack of smokes one day saying "I'll be back for the final fight" then never came back.
>>
What I like about the trailer is it shows Space Marines getting utterly slaughtered by Orks. That's just fucking rad and not something you see every day.

Like, in the board game, if your fuckin space marine dudes get charged by a squad of ork boyz with scrap metal weapons, those marines are fuckin dead. You do not expect them to contribute to the goddamn battle any longer.

It's nice to see that. I realize how autistic I am.

The other half include about three comatose Primarchs, two that ran off to who knows where to fight shit with the promise of "brb guys" and one who is an immortal, but is dead, maybe, but might come back. Also another who is dead, but is believed to come back when the time is right. Also the Alpha Legion Primarch(s?) who may or may not be loyalist traitors.

Why is /v/ 5 years late on the fluff?

The Necron Overlord quasi-apologized for having to kill the Tau. He said he isn't a cruel guy but the Tau trespassed where they weren't wanted and now they have to be punished.

The same Necron Overlord offered Imperial guardsmen the chance to escape with their lives if they surrendered in another event.

Considering that a lot Necron Overlords are honorable generals, extending the hand of diplomacy to them is not a bad idea.

>>
>>337214171
>Old crons were mostly mindless metal skeletons that wanted to turn the galaxy into a lifeless dust bowl.

Oldcrons wanted to enslave the galaxy and rebuild the empire of the C'tan. They hated life but they didn't want to exterminate it. The C'tan required life to exist as food and playthings.

>New crons have more personality to them and have their own agendas

The Newcrons are united by the last command of the Silent King which orders them to restore their empire. However, due to the disappearance of the Silent King, each Necron Overlord interpreted the command differently which led to various agendas and methods appearing. But make no mistake, they are all working for the same goal.

The best part is, the dynasties of the Newcrons have no predetermined personalities or limitations, like how you can have pretty much dozens of fan-made chapters, you can have dozens of fan-made dynasties to, and they can all act differently, so if you want personality, you can have a dynasty of Necrons that talk, sing, dance, negotiate and are just a bunch of swell guys, you want oldcrons? Go ahead, have a dynasty of Necrons that are silent, marching reapers of death that cut swatches of unlife across whole star systems without a moment of hesitation, an utterance of mercy or a blink of guilt.

Depends. Some chapters, like Salamanders, Space Wolves, Ultramarines and Lamenters in particular, put civilian life above their own, and will fight to the bitter end just to save a few citizens.

Some chapters don't give a single fuck about citizens, and will even use populated cities as bait, or torch entire planets for the smallest edge against an enemy.
