4 doubled down on the cinematic shit. I'm at chapter 3 and there's been no shooting (with the exception of a few seconds during the opening boat chase). Chapter 1 is a useless young Drake level where you climb stuff. Chapter 2 has a bit of climbing and a lot of terrible cinematic melee combat (button mashing).
But you know, dat acting. This game has good acting. Very important in a video game.

User score has always meant more, "journalists" and "reviewers" are nothing more than tools of advertisement. That isn't to say that user scores are always true, plenty of autists give games 0/10 because some underage reason but overall they still give a better view of the game than critic scores.

I've played 2 and 3 and while they were enjoyable enough for me to actually finish them it's not like they were anything special. What's wrong with that? The combat in Uncharted is mediocre at best and feels out of place in the game, and also makes no sense with the narrative. The only reason it's a shooter is because shooters sell the most.
The game would be much better off focusing on stealth and escaping enemies. Indiana Jones doesn't sit in cover and mow down enemies with machine guns, he uses his wits to avoid or trick them.

Its really simple but it takes a bit of effort. Read reviews that go into detail about what is good or bad about a game. If the reviewer has a critique and doesn't back it up with detailed examples then the review is worthless. I would say read 5-10 reviews to make sure there is some consistency among the critiques.

Ok so the game does start slow, very much at a tutorial's pace (assuming because of new Ps4 install base). Gameplay segments are paced well, and the "large" set prices aren't as memorable as Uncharted 2's train, or crumbling Shambala, etc. Los of background story setup, and I was wondering what the payoff would be. Hit that point and went "oh that's why." Still was not super strong, although another truth was revealed and the consistant banter thereafter felt weighty.
Opens wide up ~9 chapters in, lots of freedom in combat. Great mix of platforming and stealth approaches, though the invisible friendly AI returns from TLOU, and it is a bit unbelievable for someone not to see you in tall grass.
The story isn't TLOU, where each line was meant to drive a point home. Lots of banter this go around, much of it repetitive. "Nice view" is said maybe 10x across 3 characters in the first 12 chapters. It's annoying. And I never felt that way about the past titles. Maybe it's the brother's fault.
Graphics are really good, almost too good, because when they are less than perfect it sticks out like a sore thumb.
All in all, started 6/10, and jumped to 9/10 by now. Shooting is really tight. Encounters aren't overly simple, and can be made flashy by choice. Enjoying it.
Cutscenes are long at first though. Way more frequent than any other ND game. Don't really care for the bromance but it is what it is.

Gamespot deleted my review of Gone Home after they banned my account 6 months later for no reason. It had 29 out of 32 Helpful rating (with a score of 0), and was featured on /v/ shortly after the release of the game.

I'm not going to spoil the story and ending...but the entire story of the game and its' resolution (there's no climax) are lifted entirely from "The Viper is Coming", re-worded to resemble something from an 'internet fiction for curious girls' website, and injected into a DOOM mod.
If this title were offered for $0.99 on an App Store, then I would recommend it. It's good for exactly one play through, and wouldn't make you feel like you were ripped off. Offered as a 'legitimate' $20 title? Not a chance. There are thousands of better games on the market, and several hundred Visual Novels available on the internet or for retail that are far more satisfying in every category than "Gone Home". Most of them the same price or cheaper.
Heck, Atlus is bringing a title called "AquaPazza" (PS3) to North America in mid-November for retail & Download for $30. Same with "Sweet Fuse: At Your Side" (PSP) from Aksys in late August, and from Aksys again "Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi" (3DS) in mid-September. All three games feature female empowerment, and for that $10 extra you also get something that "Gone Home" doesn't offer:

Best looking console game, which is probably true. They did have criticisms like lower anisotropic filtering and poor shadow resolution in some areas, but the hair physics are good (not the best on the market but bretty good) and the fact it has "real" anti-aliasing and doesn't blue the shit out of everything is nice for a console game.
