I think there are more thresholds.
Like the Atmosphere and Story are extremely important to me, but I'm not 11 anymore. I don't just mindlessly sop up and play bad games. You can have mediocre controls and still have fun, but eventually it reaches a point where it's not worth it. Then you can have the opposite. Destiny felt mechanically great to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. The atmosphere felt great at first too, but it was like walking deeper into the ocean, but realizing the water is not getting any deeper, it's just shallow. The hub and common areas started feeling less like how Lumbridg did in Runescape, and more like the walk from Lumbridge to Varrock: just kinda there and samey after a while. Similarly the story had some inspiration, but these were all held in the cards that you can't even access in-game. There's almost as much information as Mass Effect's codex, and they locked it up.
So I think they all matter, and the thresholds are what determine if we can play them or not.
