I thought that Gardevoir's mouth and nose was where it's ears are. Honest mistake, the cry didn't help because it made gardevoir out to be some kind of singer pokemon.

Actually he's right. Before dna testing and carbon dating were used to double check that the bones were actually related, there were lots of cases of "New" species being mixes of several other known species, or several unknown species.
I mean, it's really not that hard to understand that piecing together a dinosaur using nothing but a half dozen bones you find in a layer with dozens of other bones would be a difficult process fraught with mistakes. Especially when bones are similar. Even more so when you know the history of archeology and the rush to get as many species discovered and named as possible. They were even smashing the bones of rivals to slow them down. Look up info on the "Great dinosaur rush" or the "Bone wars" for more info on that.
Here's a short page about reconstruction errors
http://palaeo.gly.bris.ac.uk/Palaeofiles/Frauds/reconstruction.htm
Nothing about this is proof against evolution like >>337116948 seems to think, but it is proof that scientists are fallible human beings and that attempting to describe and categorize species when you have nothing but a few bones is like being given 3 pieces out of a 500 piece puzzle and being asked what the completed picture looks like. You can make educated guesses, sure, but thats all they are.

And to the rest of you calling him an idiot.
He's actually right you fucking mouth breathers.
Most of the dinosaurs probably look nothing like our estimation of it. Because the scientists for some reason seem to think that skin just wrapped over bone in the exact shape.
There's a book that shows how many animals would look like, if they were drawn from just their fossils like they do to the dinosaurs. The regular animals you're so familiar with, would look NOTHING like you know them to look.
The other anon is also correct in that we do sometimes get the bone structure wrong, in fact, more often than you would think.
We're not masters of biology by any means yet, of course we're going to make mistakes. But i forget most of you, in a desperate attempt to sound smart, will just regurgitate the same bullshit any guy in a white lab coat says just because of your association with him being more credible, and smarter than you are. Which he may be, but science doesn't get this far with dickheads like all of you, who just repeat shit without question.

>>337125802

Then the lot of you dickheads will end up spouting this incorrect information on the internet because all that you need to call someone an idiot is to know that you're on the side of pop science.
Yes, even your precious scientists can be corrupt and lie to you for other gains. Maybe, juuuuust maybe now you'll start trying to think for yourself, instead of just rushing to wikipedia and quoting some white coat, then just crying "SOURCE, CITATION NEEDED" whenever someone doesn't conform to same input as you.

>Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
>So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Damn right it's bad. It's God's curse upon mankind for eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.
>>337126107
Fuck off with your pedantic rant
No-one is repeating shit without question except you and that other fag - of course fossils get looked over with more scrutiny nowadays than in the 1800s, and obviously shit is hard to determine to what it looked like, especially as you only have bones. You can attach muscles to that through indentation and all that, but you can't replicate the actual skin, colour, or anything regarding its lifestyle without guesswork or luck (like finding traces of melanin or feather attachment. That doesn't mean prehistoric animals you see nowadays are randomized fantasybeings made up for money. We're not with Cope and Marsh any more.
>>337126171
It's not people putting random bones together, but it is understood that when you have nothing but bones to base your reconstruction on, many aspects of those reconstructions can be wrong. Exponentially more so when you have fewer and fewer pieces.
The book "All Yesterdays" goes over this in detail.

I'd attack the fact that you retards aren't even close to understanding biology to it's fullest, to understand why things are and function the way they do, even when it's not seemingly for our benefit. Not even our smartest on the planet combined can tell you what life is and why everything about it works the way it does. Even less do they know everything about it.
But you guys put in a funny enough way for me to ignore it.
>>337126671
All Yesterdays is about artistic biases, not "putting together random bones"
You're going off on an extreme tangent

You realize that's OUR fault right?
Because we took care of our teeth and they don't rot out like they're supposed to, our wisdom teeth don't have room to come out like they normally would have.
Wisdom teeth issues come from our new found dental hygiene.
We're still better off keeping our teeth clean but it was never supposed to be that way.
>>337126859

>o-one is repeating shit without question
Oh really, because the first response to anything that may contradict what most of you were told to know in elementary and middle school (especially when it comes to dinosaurs) is immediate and aggressive defense to that knowledge. Most people cannot fathom that the infallible scientists they were told were so smart they figured out the dinosaurs, could have actually be wrong about it, sometimes even deliberately.
And this pretty much goes for anything. It's like your brains are literally REPLACED with school and wikipedia. If something can't be googled and backed up by some fag like Einstein (no disrespect to the genius, but yes, even he, can and will be wrong) or Hawking the lot of you, with great snark and almost piety, will deny absolutely any contrary information, or even so much as a suggestion that they could be wrong or questionable.
It's annoying, that no one can express disbelief or disagreement with pop science without that shit happening. It's like thinking about something for yourself instead of just shouting "CITATION NEEDED" is considered a bad thing now.

>we understand that perfectly well.
This is what bothers me so much about you and people who think like you.
We don't, we don't understand the SURFACE of things yet. A smarter person would tell you this and that's the reason for the pursuit.
But whatever, go ahead and think you already have everything figured out and that in the future, new evidence wont continue to make the old knowledge questionable or outright proving it wrong.
You must freak the fuck out every day because new discoveries are made more often than not. By people who KNOW we don't have it figured out, hence why they're still looking for answers.
My point, is that there's probably a good reason for those seemingly useless functions or features and we simply don't know it YET.

You're just speaking in vague, all-encompassing terms here, and putting up another stupid strawman of "you think you know everything". No-one is claiming that. We DO know that there's parts of the body or other living beings that have evolved from parts that aren't useful any more, and become the leftovers of evolution. Some are neutral, some evolve into something new and useful, some are impractical solutions to a problem, and some are an active detriment. We can trace the origins perfectly well, and all your pseudo-scientific philosophy babble isn't going to change that.

Exactly. This happens a lot on the more argumentative boards, or the ones that would have more "educated people" since they are the biggest and the first ones to regurgitate shit without question.
Probably comes from the way we are taught in school, to simply remember information and repeat it on a test to pass. Very little intuition is cared about, just remember these facts by these pop scientists and repeat it on paper.
They go on to this for the rest of their lives, with almost anything.
Not realizing that everyday, information becomes outdated

My argument comes from the simple nature that new information, which is always happening, makes the old information questionable, or directly proves it wrong. Every day, and yet every single day you'll hear people swear that what we know today is absolute and that we've got it figured out. We know everything and all the fundamentals of science NOW? Get fucking real, it's unscientific to behave and believe this. I'm not discrediting the science or the scientists themselves, it's anyone who simply repeats the information with the suggestion that it's unquestionable, because of who the information came from.
I'm saying, that people treat science like it's a religion and like scientists are priests, spouting the word of god. This is horrible for science.

Two separate pipes would require twice as much space, twice as much maintenance, twice as much energy, twice as much brain power devoted to it and it's only benefit would be that you could breath and swallow at the exact same time, which is completely unnecessary since swallowing only takes a second to do after a month of begging.

And that seems like a reasonable and well thought out suggestion. Not by any means am i suggesting he's right, but there's clearly much much more to an organism than we can even comprehend yet.
Yes, there is probably a good reason for even the most seemingly stupid function or feature. You're logic was simply that you could not find one and therefore it must useless and dumb, as if you are anywhere close to understanding life to determine what about it can be "dumb" or "meaningless". A conclusion you only came to, because that's what you've been told, and you're never taught to see the discrepancies in such facts. That shit is arrogant and keeps people stagnant, makes it habitual to not question information but instead to just defend it and repeat it, literally like a religion.
So I'm saying, you'd be smarter to say "I don't know yet why there isn't 2 pipes for eating and breathing" rather than "Can't find a reason so it must be stupid, that's what the guy in the white coat said and I'm not in a position to question him". The main reason I'll continue with this point is because shit like this is why it took this long for us to get EM Drive. If you read the story about it, the guy was denied by everyone because his science was going against the established one. He was ridiculed, no one with the accepted knowledge that they had, took the guy seriously.
Almost every single one of you here, arguing against me, would have joined those assholes in ridiculing the guy for his pipe dream. You'd call him a "pseudo scientists" and all that extra shit you people use to try and silence someone who doesn't agree with your pop science. All peer reviewed, sources and citations, all that bullshit you fuckers spew and use to silence was used against him. And despite all this, he said fuck you and invented a device that defied the known laws. And has now been peer reviewed by enough people, from different places, to say that it worked.
All that denial, held him back for so long. We could have had the technological marvel ages ago and yet only NOW he gets to have his last laugh.
It's because of cunts like you that this happened, because you faggots perpetuate that arrogant mindset. And the same logic goes for why someone like Tesla couldn't get ahead, you would all have been the faggot cunts licking Edison's ass without question.
Despite this, the lot of you will still swear to having it figured out, and will continue to mindlessly repeat.

To be fair, just because it exists doesn't mean it's beneficial, just look at the appendix or wisdom teeth, the only reason we have those useless and sometimes damaging bodyparts is because they didn't STOP us from surviving. Humans are a bit of an exception when it comes to evolution in some cases because we have the ability to survive despite faults. Which is good, because it means we survived, but it can also be bad, because I had to get my wisdom teeth removed and my appendix will probably explode some day.
Also, offering criticism without substance and judgment without information isn't helpful in the slightest. You're not making anyone smarter, you're just making yourself sound smarter. That guy asked a question, and got an answer, he might have looked stupid for not knowing, but now he's smarter for it. Makin yourself look dumb is worth it if it means someone will teach you something.
You on the other hand are doing the opposite, you're trying to make OTHER people look stupid, when at the end of the day you've asked no questions, and answered none. you've provided nothing, and received nothing. That guy is better than he was before. You've settled for trying to feel better than someone else, which is much easier than trying to improve yourself.

Still how I see it to this day.
>>337130204
Stop writing irrelevant speeches. No one wants to watch some bipolar dude lose his shit over "science"
>>337129138
Not entirely correct.
First of all, it's not twice as much anything. Only part of the tubes are used for breathing and eating. Only that part would need to be duplicated.
2nd. It takes a lot of maintenance and it's delicate exactly because it does 2 things at the same time. You need to breath through it, yet you also eat through it. Eating can lead to chocking because of that.
If it was 2 separate pipes, the one you use for eating would require far less maintenance and wouldn't be as delicate, and the other one could "specialize" just for air transfer instead of having to deal with all other kind of shit going through it.
And you don't devote brain power to it. It's a reflex controlled by the spinal cord.
Also no one said it needs to be placed in the head. That's the whole point. You can't call it intelligent design. It was the best maybe at some time, but now it isn't. You can't call the current design intelligent design.
Wisdom teeth as another example of things we don't need and even work against us.
Evolution isn't smart or intelligent design. It's throwing random shit that happened due to mutation on the wall of survival and what survives gets to spread its genes. There was no "if I have this I will survive". It's "I survived because I had this". Intelligent design is a stupid term that implies something was done intentionally or even intelligently, which isn't the case. It's all just accidents and mutations that ended up being good and helping spread out genes.
>>337129960
No, just most of you on 4chan, at least on /v/. Because you guys tend to have a toxic hivemind whether you'd like to admit that or not.
This thread alone has enough people speaking with the mentality that I described, hence why I'm calling it out. And you'll see it in any thread with some remote scientific discussion.
Someone suggests something that could be contrary to modern accepted science and does he get genuine consideration? No, he doesn't even get an argument most of the time, it's immediately "SOURCE" "CITATION NEEDED" a quote from some article with a pop scientists or anything mass approved and then that guy is silenced. Someone couldn't have suggest that dinosaurs are probably way more off than accepted to be without being called a retard, even though he had a valid point. And the only reason he got called a retard was due to that "regurgitate what important guy who is smarter than me said" mindset.

>>337130519
Yes exactly. the second part anyways. The first part is a discussion on the minutia of physiology that would eventually end up on a compromise somewhere between what you said and I said I'm sure.
But yes about the evolution thing, I wasn't suggesting that we were intelligently designed, rather that the separate tubes structure was not as viable for survival for those reasons, though that evolutionary "decision" was obviously made long before anything resembling apes, or even mammals for that, existed.
I was talking from an end result perspective, not a design one. To put it another way. I wasn't sitting at the top of the hill explaining why my round wheel is going to reach the bottom instead of his square wheel. Rather I was speaking from the bottom of the hill, explaining why my round wheel DID reach the bottom of the hill and the square wheel didn't.
That make any sense? I'm usually good at metaphorical abstraction but I've been up doing demolition on this house for close to 26 hours now and I know that when I'm tired I start to ramble terribly and use language far more flowery than necessary. I'm so tired. Evolution is cool though.

>To be fair, just because it exists .......
I understand that in evolution, there can be mutations that are seemingly useless but not detrimental to survival, so the trait gets passed. However that does not mean we know for sure the function or the DEVELOPING function of something. To say "we can't find a use for this organ, so it's meaningless and stupid" is arrogant as hell and not a mindset that should ever be perpetuated. Some things wont make sense will much later and we've had instances of that happening enough times for us to be wiser and say "we don't know it YET".
>Also, offering criticism without substance and judgment.....
Well my argument is strictly about a mindset people tend to have, not about the information itself. Somehow you missed that and saw it as me trying to prove someone wrong. I was criticizing an arrogant idea of not questioning what's established and putting it on a pedestal, treating it like something that will forever remain unquestionable fact. Why do you think I'm speaking in rather vague terms. I'm not mentioning anything specific because that's not what I'm attacking. It's the idea of simply not allowing contrary ideas or information, simply because certain important people said something and that must be upheld as the absolute, unquestionable fact. Hence, why someone who dares to suggest that perhaps the dinosaurs are way off in their arrangement, or the estimates of their designs, gets ridiculed. Despite it being a valid point. It's not because they had good contrary arguments they thought themselves, they would just go and repeat what's already established and call him wrong because said information cannot be questioned. Unless you too, are a white coat.

Someone makes a new discovery, but has no citations or sources, he discovered it with his own skills and observation.
His idea could be considered, and then later found to be valid, which would THEN give him sources and citations for his new discovery. But until then he has nothing but his word, which is constantly being silenced becauuuuse he's not some established scientists, or doesn't know one, and the masses simply ignore him. Why? Because he has no fucking source.
Therefore, no one can think for themselves and make any suggestion. No one learns anything on their own, just expected to be taught and told.
You shouldn't NEED to have all that capital, just to make a suggestion and have it be taken into account. Why can't information speak for itself? And even more, why don't you simply process it yourself with what you know, instead of just worrying about validation.
>>337117784
I really want to see it that way. It hurts trying, though.
>>337132646
What? I never regurgitated anything and have no intention of doing so. I'm sure as you are that not everything that people think is "set in stone" is actually 100% true, we just have no reason ourselves to doubt anything without having the ability to do so, there is no point. We can only make the vague assumption that at least some of it will be untrue or changed in future, because funnily enough, you really do need to be within the scientific community to make a valid claim about something. I'm not saying NO one can make claims which contradict past deicoveries or assumptions, I'm saying WE can't, if we don't have any experience in the field or a pHD.
But go ahead and use the "sir" meme to try and elevate yourself above everyone else and yes, act like a complete asshole in the face of reasoning.

>>337133240
You're talking like discoveries stand alone, on themselves, by some Gyro Gearloose in a lab
That's not what happens. Human knowledge is based on pretty much everything that comes before, and that's actually pretty sweet because it means we don't need to invent the wheel over and over.
Science isn't just "hey guys I made this discovery" and everyone going "damn dude, sweet, let's include it in every textbook". There's scrutiny involved, duplicate testing, to make sure it's right. It's not mockery, it's not arrogance, it's not fucking "SILENCING", it's the scientific method.
>>337126447
You can be unlucky as she cast Tornado then thunder on your healer.
>>337132646
And in this day and age, you really do need a pHD if you want to make a valid claim, not just to satify people, but because the things you will be commenting on will not be the same sorts of things discovered or "set in stone" during the 19th century, modern science takes things to wildly complex levels that you need experience in in order to refute or test otherwise.
Believe me, I'm well aware that science is not set in stone, that idea is essentially ingrained into your head if you take a psychology class in your lifetime.

>WE can't, if we don't have any experience in the field or a pHD.
And I'm saying you CAN. The idea that you cannot, is what I'm attacking.
The most average joe should be able to, credibility is arbitrary. Information should speak for itself, it doesn't matter who it's coming from.
It's weird because this is the same website that would agree in the science of races being different and having difference in intelligence, genetically. Something that is disagreed upon, by pop scientists with capital, most likely because it's incredibly offensive and not because the information itself could be folly.
Science should not be treated like a religion, where only a certain group of people know and speak the unquestionable word of god. Science shouldn't be an exclusive club. And average joes on a forum shouldn't argue about something in terms of credibility alone unless we're talking about direct events or quotes.
It's stagnating to behave like this because true information now has a near impossible chance of getting through all those filters.
its a bird claw

Except that for them to even put it through that duplicating and testing and the scientific method, he has to have the capital before hand. That is what I'm saying. There is without a doubt an exclusivity to the field. Hence why scientists with more power and connections can silence another with less of it. and no I don't just mean a discovery and the way i put it was grossly simplified. I mean any idea at all. I used EM Drive as an example earlier because the man was RIDICULED by the scientific community, despite being right, years later.
How is it that, that is not an example to you right there of why the mentality is toxic? It's without a doubt not the only case. And not to mention, what about when science gets silenced due to social or political issues? Once again, people didn't have the mentality of only listening to people who they are taught to consider credible and looking for sources or degrees in a person, then such corruption wouldn't happen because everyone would be inclined to let the information speak for itself and not worry about who it came from.
Hence why, you'll never hear a scientists that is widely accepted, ever agree about the difference in intelligence in races. That guy would be scrutinized to death and lose ALL credibiltiy. Meanwhile bill fucking nye the science douchebag spouts fedora tier nonsense about race and religion and guess who the normies are gonna be repeating? And why?

>>337134134
Ok so I'll give you one and you tell me what you think of that, I've already mentioned it.
And just incase, I am not white.
I believe that races differ in intelligence genetically. Blacks have the lowest intel, with whites and asians having the highest.
Pop science would never agree with that, despite it having it's own capital of evidence and scientists who agree.
And I'm not white or asian, i don't benefit from believing this.
