Comfy Blood and Wine thread
Daily reminder that if you don't:
>Wear Wolven Armor
>Always complete your contract, no matter what. This means killing whatever Monster you say you will kill, sentient or non-sentient included. This means no being tricked by "le hotty Succubus" like the perma-virgin beta you really are
>Use the Cintrian Pendulum hairstyle
>Have a fast sword/Alchemy build with minimal points spent into Signs
Then you are a shit tier Witcher and Geralt and need to take your self insert ass back to Elder Scrolls games where they belong
>>337107680
Bethesda called. They said they're going to sue CDPR for using Oblivion's distant land settings.
>>337107680
who /hypefortrailerhere/?
only a couple more hours probably
>>337107947
>couple more hours
Based on what?
>>337108010
based on very astute speculation and an active rumor mill
http://wccftech.com/witcher-3-blood-and-wine-trailer-release-possible-later-today/
>>337107680
I was promised news on the expansion for today.
Where are the news?
>>337108393
be patient, young'un.
>>337108238
c-cute!
>>337108238
Until now the rumors surrounding TWitcher have been on-point Shani, don't look so skeptical.
I played witcher 3 last year but I never picked it up for the expansion. worth it?
>>337107798
I agree with half of what you said, the other half, not so much, why kill sentient creatures if it goes against the Witcher code and why use that specific hairstyle?
>>337107798
Daily reminder that the default hairstyle is the best, followed closely by Elven Rebel
>>337107798
I do all of this except for the haircut, I love the Witcher 1 and Devil May Cry haircut which I regurarly switch up.
>>337108716
hearts of stone is actually better than the base game
>>337108716
Yes.
Has there been any word on bundle with the base game and the DLC coming out now?
>>337108761
The Witcher Code is just something Geralt made up to get out of doing jobs he doesn't want to do.
That said, the reason he made it up is because he doesn't want to do those jobs. If you're killing benign sentient monsters (especially Saskia at the end of W2) you're a terrible Geralt.
>>337109162
True, true; I spared the Dragon since I went with the Roche path and tried to spare any sentient monster I came across in my first play through of 3. Having played all The Witcher games, I was satisfied with the ending I got at the end of 3 having imported the save since 1.
i keep seeing different things assumed from the achievement list
Are we getting a new tier for witcher school gear or a whole new set or both?
There aren't any more Witcher Schools from the books right?
>>337109910
That be neat, I have no idea what happened to them.
I'm stuck on the frog on the first expansion
I do fucking no damage to it at all, I'm level 36 and my melee build is just getting shat on. Haven't touched it in months even though I love the game and I'm really keen to try the expansion but the frog is just killing me over and over.
>>337110245
weird, they heavily nerfed it some patches after hog relase
I honestly don't know how people struggle with the frog. I beat it on first try. It took some time but still.
>>337110515
Every boss was a joke. The game just doesn't suit itself well to boss fights or 1v1s.
Did you side with him?
>>337111052
yes
>>337109385
and Geralt said in the stories that he doesn't kill dragons
So.. should you focus on weapon skilltrees or signs on higher difficulty?
>>337110245
Don't worry I also found that fight a bitch. The frog is really weak to Igni, so you've basically just got to run around spamming that and don't even bother trying to stab it. Its poison spit creates a flammable vapour so if you can set fire to that for extra damage
>>337112220
Alchemy
>>337111052
No purely because I wanted the special Viper sword
>>337112220
Deathmarch is literally "use Alchemy to win" the difficulty
Put 80% of your points into alchemy and the other 20% into Strong weapon attacks.
>>337112220
Alchemy, but really if you do not want game to be way too easy make a hybrid
Damn, new gen cards too late, i wanted 100fps+ 1440p this year for this game, probably not happening for another gen or two
Ciri is cute! CUTE!
>>337112784
I have a 980Ti, everything maxed and never get frame rate drops, what are you smoking

>>337110515
Because niggers forget about the decoction that makes poison heal you.
>>337112914
best you can get with OC 980ti is 70fps at 1440p with AA
there is 70 fps more missing for the best possible experience for now
>>337112892
Keep the waifu shitposting in the /vg/ containment thread, asshat
>>337113165
Are you intentionally baiting? You're not seriously trying to suggest anything over 60 makes any difference

You literally can't engage him in any way unless you know that you have to Yrden his slimy ass.
>>337107798
But Geralt won't kill them if they have a good reason, you stupid twit.
Any graphicsfags found a solution to the choppy as fuck camera movement?
I can run the game at a stable 60 fps even with hairworks on, but when the camera pans, it looks like I'm playing at silky smooth framerates. Or is this simply a mouse refresh rate issue?
>>337112580
All you need is the toxicity per alchemy recipe from alchemy. Or, if you really want - mutagen improvement perk. Other than that, you really need nothing from the alchemy, and can just dump points into melee for the maximum power.
>>337113432
Dunno man, tried chaging the polling rate of your mouse ?
>>337113519
TW3 is the only game where I noticed this.

thanks
Everything that's been coming through the cracks about this expansion has gotten me rock solid
>Entire expansion will most likely take 30 hours with reportedly shit load of quests
>The area will be as large as all of the Skellige isles
>You will be able to participate in knightly tournaments and perhaps even bro up with some of those goofy knights on contracts
>Will be able to dye your armor different colors
>Dozens of new enemy and armor types
>Will most likely get to play house with a comfy base you can customize
>Generally super comfy setting, that's basically taking the piss of the traditional fairy tale setting
>More info and possibly trailer in a few hours
Gid hype, faggets.
>>337111052
I did both endings, wish I went full O'Dimm for the unique rewards though. My final save was Olgierd.
I wanted a swerve ending where you give up Olgierd but still fuck over O'Dimm since he just made you apart of his games

As large of Skellige Isles combined. So, probably about the size of Velen, or Novigrad. But I don't mind.

u wot
>>337114727

Delusial britfag detected
>>337114865
That's what I meant. It's still pretty fucking big.
From the sounds of things, it's pretty amazing that they've been able to finish this in just the 6-7 months they've been working on it since Hearts of Stone.
>>337114954
To be fair, Shivering Isles was literally the GOATest of DLCs
>>337114984
>this is what people unironically believe
They've been working on that shit since Witcher 3 neared completion. Believing otherwise is literally retarded, you genuinely don't think that developers have in depth plans over all of their DLCs/Expansion Packs before hand? You honestly think they "held off" until they finished Heart of Stone?
>>337114267
oh sweet. i missed some of the cards during the quest.
>Map the size of Velen
>Improved grass rendering
>New optional category based inventory/UI
>90 map markers, plus quests
>20+ new enemies
>Gifted a comfy vineyard, acts as home
>Can put armour and weapons on display
>Dye armour parts to customise look
>Invite secondary characters from the main game to vineyard to hang out
>Upgrade vineyard, train roach
>Numerous book characters appear
>R E G I S
>New mutagens and super powers built for NG+
>Skellige Gwent deck
>>337113432
have you tried enabling hardware mouse cursor setting? atleast for me the mouse works like shiet in the menus when not using that, dont know if it affects stuff ingame
>>337114954
Shivering Isles came out almost a decade ago m8
A lot has changed since then
>>337115454
And each Skyrim expansion pack has been equally sizeable and filled with content. Same with New Vegas etc.
What's your point?
>>337114105
>not killing trolls that are not blatantly evil but nevertheless eat humans because that's what trolls tend to do
Objectively shit tier witcher right here.
>>337115226
Of course they planned it and did a lot of the pre production and planning beforehand. But that doesn't mean that the majority of the development wasn't done in the last half year. I hope you don't believe they've just had eveything lying around for the last year and chose to release it now.
>>337115529
I killed trolls which killed humans, and left these who didn't alive
No dindus in my game
>>337115548
>But that doesn't mean that the majority of the development wasn't done in the last half year.
So as with literally every expansion then? What's remarkable about it?
>I hope you don't believe they've just had eveything lying
Yes, because CDPR don't have a huge reputation of being lying filth or anything.
>>337114954
>it took him more than 30 hours to complete shivering isles
what the fuck dude there really wasn't that much to it
Why is the witcher sign Somna in not a single game, not even as a dialogue option
>>337115769
>it took him less than 30 hours to complete Shivering Isles
Without guides, there was definitely a fuckload of content there anon. Significantly more than what is likely to be found in both B&W as well as Heart of Stone.
>>337115885
>muh nostalgia
>>337115519
>equally sizeable and filled with content
(you)

>less than 10 years

Nice argument senpai
This game sucks
>>337115991
Are you denying this? Each expansion has had significantly more content than Heart of Stone, i'm talking legit expansions, not their glorified Horse armor tier DLC.
Hearts of Stone had barely any content compared to Dawnguard
>>337115753
Who said there was something "remarkable" about it or that it needs to be different? People are just saying it looks good, and you start getting ass blasted for no reason.

Nothing on the new screenshots shows any signs of better grass.

Sorry to interrupt your CDPR circlejerk attempt senpai, maybe go to /r/witcher and post the same comment. You're guaranteed a few upboats over there
>>337116531
It has its problems. It tones down or removes some parts of the wonky IBL in the game (very visible in sunless areas of Novigrad), and has the same fog settings for outdoors and indoors, meaning you can have a bright, orange fog within a deep, dark cave.
Essenthy is working on 2.2 version, there are visible improvements. Maybe, with some work, it's possible to revert TW3 back to E3 lighting (they hadn't had enough time to remove all E3 build's features in the short time before the release).
I miss the underwater shaders the most. If you compare 35 minute demo, and how underwater sections looked there, the current state is pathetic. It's quite obvious they got a working game and had to strip down as many functions as possible to make it playable on consoles.
>>337116981
I'll see what Essenthy comes up with, not holding my breath but I remember his swamp shaders to look pretty fucking legit.
>I miss the underwater shaders the most. If you compare 35 minute demo
Yes, this hurt me the most also. Their water in general took a huge hit
>>337116743
Oh, fuck off, you're just looking to get upset on the usual hate bandwagon.
And because I said "pretty amazing"? I didn't even compare the expansion to any other dev like you keep insisting on. But I'm sorry, I'll be sure to use less extreme adjectives next time.
>>337117054
About the water, it looks like one feature they tried to remove glitched out. If you look at skellige's shallow water, you'll notice there's a static texture of caustics (animated explanation of caustics in the gif) on the sand under the water. My bet is - they had some caustics animation to make the water look more realistic and lively, and had to cut it out, but either forgot, or something else came up, and we ended up with a static image of caustics pasted onto the sand.
Moreover, it looks like they not only had to downgrade because of the consoles, but also disc space. But that's just a vague assumption based on comparing stuff.
>>337114727
>Generally super comfy setting, that's basically taking the piss of the traditional fairy tale setting
It's based on real life Lombardy.
>>337117217

It takes sometimes needs to take half a second for it to "refresh" after meditating and going out of dialogue scenes that start during the day. Also, there's a harsh transition when going in and out of Novigrad to the wilderness.
But other than that, it's really good. Plus, it lets you adjust when dawn and dusk happens, and how long they last. pretty neat.

I like how they've changed the 20+ hours to 30+ hours. And knowing their previous hour assumptions for the base game and HoS, that's very accurate, even if you only do the main quest and the most prominent side quests.

The Witcher series, both the books and the vidya, have always been better suited to the shorter more self contained stories, so I have faith this is going to be good.
However I don't think they really need a prominent antagonist like O'Dimm again, since it's going to be hard to top him. Also this is really giving me the short story vibes for some reason, so it doesn't really need one, but I'm sure the other characters will be well written.

Man, I feel kinda bad. I killed the dragon, but I saw it more as a mercy killing. Dragon was suffering and I'm pretty sure it wouldn't manage to escape from that, especially with the wound it had. I preferred to just kill him off. The way they animated Geralt doing so was also really convincing that he didn't want to.
And then he goes "hurr durr he could still be used by Philippa". Fuck you, writers. I didn't even care about that. I just didn't want the dragon to keep suffering needlessly.

Do the mods decrease fps?
This expansion almost makes me sad that we'll never get to see so many of the other interesting locations in the witcher universe.
Like it would've been amazing to have seen Dol Blathanna, Brokilon, Kovir, Zerrikania and many other places. In hindsight, it feels like the games lingered a tad too much on just the North.
>>337128728
just fuck off, nearly 10 years of this shit
>>337128981
Depends. STLM Doesnt. Some reshades do depending on the features, some add custom AA and other stuff. There are also mods to increase the settings like denser vegetation and LOD.
>>337128981
Not the ones I use.
Mod pages said that they cause slight decrease in FPS, but I float around 55-60. About the same as vanilla give or take a frame
I'm on a 970 by the way.
Now I'm really starting to wish I had a better rig, so I could play this at 60fps max.
Oh well, guess I'll save it for when I replay it some time down the line with everything included.
>>337129001
But anon CDPR haven't ruled out another game based in the universe. Without Geralt of course.
>>337128652
Frankly, I still defend my choice of helping the ghost.
While after several happenings, most prominently the ghost of the sisters in 2 and the pest maiden, I have sworn to never believe a ghost again, I still don't regret helping this one, and if it's just to spite the demon cunts.
Speaking of which, do you think the remaining one will make an appearance in BaW?
>>337128634
2 is less likely, but TW1 has never seen a console release and they already have the mechanics, plot, quests, characters and half the assets in place. They're saying that now, but wait for the DLC shekels to run dry and they'll sing a different tune. Didn't they release some witcher flavored mobile shovelware some time ago?
>>337129197
Sure, but it will probably be a very long time from now if they ever do it. But if they do, then they damn well better go to some of those locations.
>>337129001
>tfw you will never enslave CDPR and force them to make TW3 expansions until the entire world exists in game
>>337107798
Geralt had always been lenient when it comes to sentient monsters. If he deemed them not to be a threat or if there were extenuating circumstances, he would often let them go.

Goddamn, this expansion is looking amazing, you can really tell they've already learned a lot from the base game.
Like, both expansions are almost starting to outshine the base game and make it look tame in comparison.
The Witcher 3 really disappointed me
>>337130106
And now while their momentum is up they're stopping.
>>337130256
You are entitled to your opinion.
I know this is minor, but I almost wish that you could keep playing after the epilogue (as in it doesn't just throw you back to before the last quest) as this seems like the perfect last comfy adventure for Geralt to go on.
>>337130297MWAAAHHH the Toussaint wine..!

>>337130106
>>337130297
I always liked to see CDPR improve while making this series.
It was probably the very last time I could actually see a developer improve upon themselves over several titles, to an exceptional degree at that.
New devs are either infinite early access, or their 2nd or 3rd titles are such a sellout failure they disappeared already...
>>337130297
They might return to the franchise some time down the line.
But really, better to stop now on a high note, than get half hearted sequels that feel disappointing.
>>337130297
>stopping
>>337130106
It's more likely that they simply had more time to work on the expansions, especially since they're much smaller scale. You can clearly see this if you look at how detailed the forested sections of Novigrad that were added in the expansion are compared to the base game. I'm sure they wanted to do that for the whole map but it just wasn't realistic
>>337130297

where is THIS?
>>337130809
In the far east corner of the map. Deadwight wood.
Spooky shit.
>>337130713
>He doubts
They estimated the base game would easily be 100+ hours which it was. They estimated 8 hours or something for HoS which it also easily was, with much more if you go exploring in the new areas.
Now this one has a new map, with way more quests and content. It will be 30 hours+ EASY unless you're going to rush through it like a fag.
>>337130297
I mean they could remake witcher 1 with the new engine if they really want to do something. I think they should do a story about some random witcher X years ago story with just normal witcher contracts and exploring the world, I atleast would eat that shit up happily even if the mainstory would be bad/non-existant as long as the story in the side witcher contracts would be Hearts of Stone tier good even without geralt & the gang
>>337130996
If they ever do another one, I would love for it to be adventures with good ol' papa Vesemir back in his prime.
>>337130106
>>337130573
Also something like HoS was made with a much tighter narrative in mind. They know that most players who purchase it have already finished the game, or will play the entire questline in one go. So it's considerably easier for them to pace out the story than it was for the one in the main game, where they had to account for the player fucking around for 40 hours in between quests.
It would have been interesting to see the game made in the style of something like Xenoblade - large open areas that are cordoned off and arranged linearly. So something like White Orchard for each section of the main story. I doubt it would have worked well but the main game does suffer from some pretty severe pacing problems
>>337130531
>>337130563
I meant stopping with the witcher franchise. I'm hype for 2077 but i can see so much more that can be taken from the witcher universe.

Aye. Probably one of the weaker aspects of the game. It's hard to create good villains when you have to pace them over 100 hours of content. Same goes for balance unfortunately.
Ancient Leshen decoction + Ekhidna decoction = Literally kill anything 1v1.
All you do is go up to the enemy, spam axii until stamina regen is maxed in combat, then you can literally kill anything no matter the lvl.

3 quests and gwent, they probably wanted to make you come through there before reaching dead man's tree but decided for another tempo of the game
i actually would've liked more logical approach like that white orchard is southeast exactly where the camp is and that would be appropriate for you to go through there first
they also didn't have time most likely for that area it's like most eastern part empty in comparison
>>337135656
oh and that walled area near the camp is ABSOLUTELY NOT USED! It drove me mad, i hoped for neat corrupt officer questline or something.

Perfect timing. Almost considering upgrading my rig as well, but it kinda seems like a hassle.
God I hope that blood and wine has a fucking Manitcore. We've been waiting forever to fight one of those.

Is this game better with KB+M or controller?
When are Blood and Wine and the last expansion meant to be tackled? I still haven't finished the base game (kinda got distracted) and it's been months since I played.

I really should upgrade mine as well, but I'm not really that savvy with building computers.
If your rig is pushing 5 years old, sans upgraded GPU, is there any point in not just replacing everything? Like the motherboard and PSU, or perhaps you might as well once it's this old.
>>337137916
Start from the bottom. Don't try to challenge the Novigrad players if you didn't get all the cards from the Velen quests. Also you can buy cards from innkeepers. Put as much spies in your deck as possible, they're arguably the best cards.

It's not like it's been made from the ground up. They're working straight off the Witcher 3 and its assets, that's a lot of work out of the way straight off. They probably had been planning this for longer too. So when the composer, writers, and artists were done with the main campaign and the other DLC, then they moved right to this while the other parts of the team worked on finishing the main game and the first DLC.But it's really slav magic

I'm really considering upgrading for this, but not sure if I should do it.
I get between highish 40s to sometimes 60 fps on mostly high settings, so it's not like my performance is awful although I sometimes wish I could have stable 60. Then again I feel like it would be stupid to buy a new card right now with both new amd and nvidia cards right around the corner - although I kind of want to play this expansion with everything on max.
Maybe I should just wait for that when I replay it some time down the line.
There's always that one guy.
On new game plus, do I go Witcher ending like my first playthrough or empress?
>>337146535
They really like that starting armor, don't they?

Yet he always finds himself in a role in a court. Juggling politics to his own interests. He's a better politician/manipulator than most people in the series.

>reform in court
>trade routes and pact with skellige
>>337143157
The new Fallout games are more about exploring ruins, scavenging ammo/items and shooting the cast of Mad Max in the face over and over again while Wild Cunt is a very story focused RPG. You will never see a quest that is just "go there, kill that and come back", you always get to talk to characters quite a bit and at the end, or during the quest, you get to make one or several choices affecting the outcome and some even the world state.
