I can't really saw what's the absolute scariest for me since there are aspects from the horror games that give them a unique creepiness. Like Doom 64 for example, Doom isn't really a horror game or that scary of a game as a whole, but listening to Doom 64's OST will make you paranoid and scared shitless.

Man, this just reminds me to finish up Silent Hill 4 over the summer. I miss being thrilled by scary games.
When I was young, Half Life 2 had its moments in Ravenholm. The universe itself was pretty creepy, but those fast zombies really got my blood pumping until I learned how to use a shotgun properly.
I'm a perfectionist who hates taking damage in games, so those freaky fuckers charging me really got me rustled.
Doom 3 takes the cake for me, however. I couldn't play it in the dark, I was a bitch for jump scares.
