They're both really good, I don't have an answer for what is better honestly. Each game feels very different to me.

Metroid has a better setting, but Zelda has tons of replayability and lasts longer.

Super Metroid is one of the best games on the SNES and inspired an entire subgenre.

A Link to the Past is simply a good game and it took until the next game (Link's Awakening) to get the franchise to "legendary" status.
