It's true that COD is only hated in the gaming nerd world like 4chan and Reddit because it's boring and rehashed to the point of extinction. Normies still like COD, they like how boring and samey it is.
But these two factors could lead to Infinite Warfare's demise.
1) CODfans cannot stand scifi. Even though COD's take on scifi is so utterly generic and safe, it's still too much for CODfans. CODfans like modern warfare and ww2. They were able to stomach Blops 2's "ten years in the future" scifi and they liked Blops 3's campy, slapstick version of scifi but they will not tolerate space warfare.
2) COD:Ghosts is utterly despised by CODfans. Ghosts was only a few years ago, most of them remember how bad it was and aren't going to jump into another game developed by neo-Infinite Ward.

I just checked both trailers again and there is something VERY wrong going on. Compare BF4's reveal to BF1 reveal. BF4 has 19 million views and BF1 has 21 million so about the same. Now the likes are a different story. BF4 has 266k while BF1 has 1.1 MILLION. Now the Infinite Warfare trailer has 278k likes, close to AW (223k) and Ghosts (145k) so that is normal. But it is the 5th most disliked video on youtube. It has 14 million views, while other videos with similar dislikes have 800+ million views. This has botting written all over it. On average when people watch videos on youtube <1% actually take the time to rate it either positively OR negatively. 11% of views on IW were given a rating. This NEVER happens on youtube videos legitimately. Go look at the most disliked video on youtube. Justin Bieber Baby. 0.7% of the viewers left a positive or negative rating. You want to look at that and tell me its not botted? Especially when the dislikes are climbing hundreds of thousands at a time but the views remain about the same. The power of mob mentality and bandwagons can be seen on the Bieber video, but the numbers don't add up for Infinite Warfare.

The journalism bullshit was built up to so much. She was never the target of the movement at least until the people realized she cheated on her boyfriend for it.
