Dunno, haven't played with mods, but those sound like babby mode, especially fast movement.
They should rather make a mod that removes drowners (though you can easily keep them away with a certain item you get in the first chapter).

I wouldn't call it an ok introduction considering the other two main characters are mia. It's honestly pretty weird when you jump from the books to the games and then see that Ciri and Yen are nowhere to be found.
Anyways op Witcher 1 is fine though it might be a bit dated. You might want to telephoto between the swamp and temple quarter cause there is a lot of back tracking.

The bad guys appear out of nowhere, and have no relation to anything, at all. No nilfgaardians or northlings, sorceres or transdimensional elves. It really feels like fanfic material, but during the rest of the game, it's all classic witcher problems that expand a bit the world, so yeah try it

Just the Texturenmod and the working scabbards mod.
Maybe there's newer visual enhancement mods out but I think this one's pretty good. Does nothing except for putting a sharpening filter on the original textures, but it looks a million times better.

But if you have it on Steam, you should use the product code to grab a free GOG copy as well. This doesn't make your Steam copy go away. It's meant to be a "backup copy" but it also helps if you just want to play the game without using Steam.

The first chapter isn't hard. It's 2 or 3, I can't remember which, that slogs on for fucking ever doing MMO-type fetch quests. Aside from that annoying chapter the game's fine as I remember it.

I've dropped the vanilla 2-3 times for various reasons, and finally completed it with FCR installed, reduced enemy spawns enabled. It kinda exposes the best and the worst of the combat. You absolutely have to pick your battles and make ample use of elixirs, but the lack of precision and consistency is so much worse with the rise in difficulty. I don't regret any of it, though.

Chapters 2 and 3 were my favorite parts of the game, I liked how it had an absolutely overwhelming amount of shit to do all of a sudden but most of it ended up tying neatly back in to the main quest

Chapter 2 is the part where most people drop it because of the godawful pacing and fetch questing. Thing is once you get past that chapters 3 and 4 are pretty great, so it felt really fucking good to emerge out of the swamps into parts of the game that were actually engaging.

Ciri ends up in Camelot after she drops off Geralt on Yen on Avalon at the end of the last book because she refuses to stay in the witcher world if she couldn't be with her adopted parents. She then proceeded to meet Galahad and she tells them of her story and what happened to Geralt and Yen. At the end of the book she breaks down and cries and Galahad tries to cheer her up and then she thinks he is kind of cute and who knows she might even fuck him. They then get on their horses and ride off and that's how the story ends. The games completely diverge from the books immediately after the last page though technically due to the way the last book was set up and the parts with Nimue you could say it diverged before then.
