Their dlc policy makes it possible for the devs to continue working on their games years after the release, I really don't see why some people are so pissy about this. Not being able to develop your provinces mean that you spend the points on conquest and dilpo-annexing instead. And with the new province system you can expand even easier.

There are Fallen Empires. Exactly like the Vorlons and Shadows from the Babylon 5 series. They are super powerful, ancient races with all sorts of cool/weird tech. But they keep to themselves unless you do something to piss them off. What that "something" is depends on their ethos. A Xenophile Fallen Empire will not like it if you start purging the galaxy, while a Xenophobe Fallen Empire will ignore you unless you colonize near to their space.
There are also pre-spaceflight civilizations, where you can choose to just observe, or uplift them. Or conquer them XCOM style. Where you are the aliens and they are the plucky resistance.
Kind of confused how the wormhole works, is it like a structure you make and then your ships can go anywhere within a radius?
Also does warp drive have a maximum range? The wiki labels it as "free" does that mean you can warp across the galaxy in one jump if you wanted (and want to wait a really long time)?

I assumed we weren't getting to play as synths, so I was going to try everything to bring about an AI rebellion and fluff them as uplifted members of my society that uploaded themselves to machines. Sort of like the next evolutionary step.
