Her shift gives her insane mobility and verticallity for a "tank" character. You should be using her on attack, and harassing any heroes like widow who like to hang out alone, or using your shift+e to advance on people, get some hits or a kill in until you can shift out of there again. Basically a hit and run disruptor style.
Then when your ult is charged, announce it to the team, and boosto onto the point and snackbar everyone. If you even damage anyone, you'll instantly get your mech back.
That's how I have success with her at least, she's insanely fun to play, just don't turn your face to high dps characters or you get melted.
