Is this the best boss in the game? I don't mean the hardest, but the best style and music. Just listen to that score:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFRaZs6ri7s
Hardest boss is something like Nameless King right? Or Pontiff?
>>336893105
Yhorm has the best music. Too bad that fight is trash.
>>336893298
Yeah that was pretty great as well. I think it was made to make you feel like a badass, especially with your buddy Siegward helping you out.
What's with Miyazaki and feminine boys?
>>336893105
This fight was by far my favorite mainly because it was the most visually thematic. I loved how the story and relationship of the two brothers was visualized in their movement and design. Fucking genius I say.
Not sure I liked this boss. The entire encounter gave me that yaoi vibe.
>Tfw you realize Lorian is a literal retard
>Tfw Lothric didn't wanna become a Lord of cinder so that he could take care of his brother.
>>336893105
It would be infinitely better without choir, just violin only. Still one the best theme in DS3.
>>336895262
maybe because you're gay son
The teleporting was disorienting as fuck. Never quite got used to it - didn't really like the boss. I can see the appeal though.
Ds3 had so many good bosses
>Soul of Cinder
>Abyss Watchers
>Champion Gundyr
>Nameless King
>Dragonslayer Armour
>Ocerios
>Pontiff
Who did you have more trouble with, Nameless or this guy?
>>336896021
Him due to his fucking charge.
I loved the mid fight cutscene.
Post your favorite autistic soulsbourne boss.
>>336896021
Beat this guy first try. Nameless raped me over and over again though.

Lords in DS1: Skeletal monster, albino dragon with unique design, BED of chaos, 4 extremely deformed kings
Lords in DS2: bunch of corpses, giant spider, balrog and woman so ugly, you should with her in the dark room.
Lord of Cinders: 2 ladyboys, legion of furries and bara giant.

Sorry for randomly dropping in but I'm about to start a Caestus build. I'm comparing the Knight and the Warrior and it just seems like Knight is the best class to start with for the majority of melee builds. Should I go Warrior or just stick with Knight?
I agree, Banjo & Kazooie are a pretty good encounter.
Lothric is the one teleporting Lorian
>>336895359
Why is he a retard? He's just really close with his little bro
Dancer is actually the best boss and it's crazy how underrated she is
>>336896781
Because of the curse. This time the literal part is actually, well, literal.
>>336896816
Dancer fight is beautiful. First time i fought her i was mesmerized by her attacks in the 1st phase. It really feels like a dance.
>>336895694
Dragonslayer armour would've been so good if it didn't have the two things occasionally shooting shit at you, it ruined the atmosphere of the bossfight when you got like 20 peices of 0 dmg shit flung at you from offscreen. Why couldn't that have just made it a part of his moveset?
Like he does the shitty two hit shield bash then smals it down and does the fire beam himself or something.
Also abyss watchers would've been way better if you couldn't backstab him, he had more hp and it didn't have the first half but instead had a leadup area of weaker abyss walkers like the massive bridge before the prince and then give it a few more moves. As it is, it's mostly just chain parry/backstab.
>>336896816
>Pope to dancer
>"Y'know, you should try spinning. It's a good trick."
>>336897091
Your ideas are so shit its unbelievable.
>>336893105
Artistically it's pretty fantastic.
Mechanically it is fucking retarded, as is the case for any boss that uses teleportation mechanics
>>336893298
>Too bad that fight is trash.
For me it was great because I was too stupid to figure out how to use the Stormruler. Even though I knew about the sword from DeS, I didn't think to charge the weapon art to its maximum power, so I thought you had to upgrade the weapon first, but didn't want to use titanite scales to do that.
Moveset wise he isn't that difficult so it becomes a battle of perseverance. That way you also get to experience his Ember form attacks more, plus you can also break his poise and perform an actually damaging riposte to his face like you can do to Nameless King's dragon.
>>336897091
Those things are controlling it, it's just an armor.
>>336897315
What where those things anyways?
>>336893105
Anyone else put out the fire and then feel bad about beating the twins?
Also did the firekeeper steal my eyes wtf is that ending anyways? I was expecting serpent party.
>>336896021
The champ, nameless took me 3 tries and the champ 7-9.
Never got used to his fast punch and dash
>>336895694
He pretty much just teleports behind you for lunges. Sometimes he'll port twice if you keep rolling but it's usually to try to get behind you.
>>336897427
Pilgrim Butterflies, otherwise known as the guys who were travelling around with those turtle shells on their back.
They do that mainly to keep the Dark from creeping up from their shadow and taking them over to produce the Pus of Man, but have an ace in the hole regardless that may or may not work:they put a seed from a tree inside of their dark sign, embedding it within themselves, because trees are seen as the form of life to them, or something just as spiritually symbolic
They die, regardless, and from thatthe tree blooms from their person, mixing and bending with the Abyssal shit within them to produce those Pilgrim Butterflies, whom are heavily implied to be "angels" to the fat guys in the armors, though I don't think its that explicitly stated
>>336896021
>champion is hard
please stop spreading these lies
I went in thinking it was going to be the fight of the game and it was pathetic
>>336897453
Yes, I was pretty confused that with End of Fire ending I still should beat 2 cripples.
>>336897427
"Pilgrim butterflies." The things that the tree people on the high wall are growing into. Also apparently the "cocoons" are the turtle shell things on the backs of the guys in the opening cinematic.
>>336897453
You gave her the Firekeeper Eyes you found in the dark version of Firelink Shrine, not your own eyes.
Ending explanations:
Link the Fire =Link the Fire 2.0
End of Fire =just fuck the world's shit up senpai (with the possibility of something new being in the future?)
End of Fire whereyou kill the Firekeeper=same as previous but with Dickhead Asshat Extraordinarie flavor
Usurpation of Fire =Dark Lord 2.0
I sure hope DaS3 does DaS2:SotFS again and provides one more new ending, because I didn't feel like any of those were a proper "finale" to the series.
>>336896816
Agreed. I'd put Twin Princes and Abyss Watchers up there too but Dancer was well done overall.
>>336896352

>>336897831
Then how come DSP took 69 tries to beat him. He's a good way to measure how hard a boss is to the average gamer right?

>>336897191
How so?
>>336898138
Considering how he plays MGS3, no, he's below average.
Why was the soul of cinder trying to stop you?

Same as Gwyn probably. Testing your strength (a strong soul is required for the Kiln) or preventing you from ushering an Age of Dark. Gwyn was most definitely hollow when you met him and thus insane, and I'm not sure if Soul of Cinder is even sentient since its an amalgamation of souls of the previous fire linkers.

>>336893105
I honestly didn't like the boss as much as I should have because I had to get through a fucking million ganksquads as well as a bastardization of the lead-up from 1-1 to get to these fucking assholes each time.
On top of that, the teleporting is less impressive as much as it is absolutely fucking unneeded. After reading the lore and shit, I get why he would need to teleport to move and shit, but it's also kind of silly as to why he's another boss that's just a human figure pushed into a lower position and is crawling around, but every time I saw him use his legs, it just got fucking silly because I kept asking myself, "why don't you fucking stand up, then, you retard."
At least he has the common decency to not have combos that last for fucking days just for the sake of catching you off-guard because the exposure to it is literally so tedious that you want it to get it done and over with faster, like Soul of Cinder and Pontiff. Then again, I didn't really get that much experience with it because I was sick and tired of fire chip-damage to the point of where I just ended up pushing his shit in from behind.
It was an okay boss, but I don't really get why too many people liked it. Maybe I was just feeling annoyed upon fighting it and that detracted from the overall experience, but I still just don't find it too memorable at all.I found it really disappointing that the only humanoid boss fight that I really really enjoyed was Dragonrider because he actually had such beautiful combos and such a goddamn impressive arena on top of it. The Pilgrim Butterflies often missed us both in our fight, so it just lit up the arena and made it fucking mesmerizing.
>>336898636
>because I had to get through a fucking million ganksquads
You know there is an elevator shortcut and you don't have to fight a single enemy to get to them right?
>>336898636
>why don't you fucking stand up, then, you retard
Because he is a retard
>>336898636
Anonthere was a shortcut right before the boss room that led back right before to dragonslayer armor.
>>336898721
>>336898761
God fucking christ, there's so many goddamn shortcuts.
Here I was thinking the ones before the stairs leading up the boss room were the last.
Fucking christ, I need to play through it again.
>>336898636
I think the idea is that both brothers are in some way accounting for each others weaknesses
Lorian acts as a bulwark for lothric, with the brute strength and rapid attacks, whereas the defenceless lothric moves him around accounting for the lack of mobility, while also providing range attacks
I like that this changes up a 2 boss fight for the better
The reason he get's up every once is to further emphasise the fact that he's almost falling over as he tries to hit you
>>336898385
Fair enough on the dragon armour, I didn't know that, I still don't like the shitty bead attack that comes from offscreen though, it just ruins the feel of the fight. The fire attack is super cool though, and it almost never hits you so it just makes the fight seem cooler.
I didn't like the first stage, you just parried him twice, ran around until the third one spawned and killed him before it died.
It really punished you for having a shitty weapon and forced you to play super defensive if you didn't have decent stamina to get away from them after a parry.
I've always liked the one on one fights with something that doesn't that don't have cheese in them. Artorias is my favorite boss by far, followed by the second last boss fight from god hand and then the lady from the clocktower in BB. The one on one fights always feel the best, having your concentration ruined by 40 dmg coming from offscreen is just plain annoying and it doesn't play to the strengths of souls combat.
>>336897776
I'm pretty sure that the angels are referring to Primordial Serpents. There's a statue of one with wings near the Dragonslayer Armor Bonfire.

>He gets killed really fast while I figure out the Storm Ruler

that was fucked up, even more when I went back there and found his armor
>>336898909
In a whole lot of cases, I was probably really annoyed with the boss battle to never really get the good parts of it instead of the bad, since I had to end off what was actually a cool fucking area with millions of ganksquads out of nowhere.
It's not like I don't respect them as a part of lore, since I understand thatthe Lothric bloodline basically utilized and fucked with their souls to produce a jerry-rigged manner to linking the fires, so to speak, which goes nicely into why they see their area as a grave, since at this point they're basically being siphoned for shit and trying their best to get by on what little they havebut it was just a weird way to introduce a boss, since the concept of humanoid bosses in slouched positions never really got to me as it did for most other people.
Except for maybe Vordt. Vordt was fucking crazy cool, in my opinion.
>>336898969
Yeah, I noticed those, as well as somestatues in the Cathedral of the Deepbut I didn't really think them as the Primordial Serpents until later on. Brings up a lot of questions overall.
I hope they elaborate on how those guys tick and did what they did other than just for the sake of manipulation. It'd be a pretty nice DLC to have to go through all that information and shit.
>>336899654
He tanked the dude for me in my go, we alternated between blasting him and distracting him.
all boss music sounds the same in this game

>combine that with having gotten gud at Artorias by doing him at SL10 more than once and Abyss Watchers are a cheese every time
>Implying Souls bombastic choirs are ever good
Only times they've been anything other than unremarkable are with the Abyss Watchers and Bloodborne's Main Menu theme. Souls music is so painfully average in general.

>>336899987
Ass Watchers have far too little health to be a serious threat, and the fact that they can be parried, backstabbed and stunlocked just adds insult to injury.
I really like it as a boss though, and doing it before Crystal Sage makes it a bit tougher, especially if you haven't been leveling Vigor that much.
Underrated boss, fighting him is different than the other melee bosses since he's a wizard but he's hardier and more challenging than any other caster boss. And his design is awesome.
Prince Twins are overall my favorite, but he's a close second for me.
>>336900178
But I've played them all, multiple times each. I've posted twice complaining about Souls music, and one of those threads was a general "post your favorite track of a game". If you're curious, it was the Fool's Idol theme from DeS.

It only took me two tries to kill him, but fuck I wish I had more difficulty so I could experience fighting him again. He was a blast.
The only bad part to the entire thing was howthere was all those Cathedral of the Deep enemies littering the fucking floors leading up the boss room right after you just got done looking at your favorite giant blacksmith bro dead on the ashy floor of a great castle you visited before
If there's one fucking thing that could be considered missed potential, it was the ability to utterly fuck with players and make them uncomfortable and nostalgic as they went up to the familiar areas they walked on before so long ago.
>>336900757

Pontiff, Nameless King and Soul of Cinder can be tricky but they feel challenging and rewarding too. Aldritch's difficulty is almost entirely luck based.
Great design though I agree, I figured from the intro cinematic he'd be an amorphic blob kind of like the Phalanx from Demon's Souls. Noticing Crown of the Dark Sun and realising it was Gwyndolin's torso, then realising I had been dodging his skittles the entire fight was on par with picking up Stormruler and the Artorias phase of the Abyss Watchers

>>336897776
>Pilgrim Butterflies, whom are heavily implied to be "angels" to the fat guys in the armors, though I don't think its that explicitly stated
Not a theory I've heard before. Interesting and definitely possible, but if there is any such implication I didn't see it. Plus, the Pillars of Light miracle and the prevalence of feathers around anything associated with the angels didn't really scream 'flying tree monsters' to me.
>>336898969
>>336899683
Now see when I first saw the Primordial Serpent statues in Lothric Castle I thought 'oh shit the angels must have been the serpents!' But then thinking on it, it doesn't make too much sense - the angelic faith was heretical and wasn't supported by any of Lothric's three pillars of rule, so why would statues pandering to the faith be so prevalent in the castle?
Rather, I think the statues are of Fraampt, or another serpent on the side of light, who visited the royalty of Lothric long ago, and told them it was their duty to produce heirs to link the fire - hence why they're so obsessed with it.
I actually didn't notice the statues in the Cathedral of the Deep but in my opinion that could mean one of two things:
>The Cathedral of the Deep was once part of Lothric, and as well as telling the royalty to link the fire, Fraampt told them to set a guard on the Deep (which seems to be related to the Abyss in some way), and statues of him are present in the Cathedral as a result
or
>After the Cathedral of the Deep became corrupted and started worshipping the Deep rather than guarding it, they encountered a serpent like Kaathe there, and created statues of him
>>336898636
>>336899683
>Maybe I was just feeling annoyed upon fighting it and that detracted from the overall experience
>I was probably really annoyed with the boss battle to never really get the good parts of it instead of the bad
This happened to me with Abyss Watchers and Sulyvahn. Abyss Watchers I got impatient and with Sulyvahn I was getting really pissed off with Irithyll in general so I was fed up by the time I got to him, and I ended upsummoning for both of thembut then regretted it shortly after.

Gwyndolin had a hard fucking life, man. Raised as a girl; kept hidden; dad dies; city abandoned, left in your dad's tomb with no one for company but a handful of knights, a sadistic executioner, Fraampt and possibly Velka; wait for a thousand fucking years for a plan to save the world to come to fruition - and then either get killed by the fuck you were trying to manipulate, or be forced to face the fact your solution was only temporary, and remain in your abandoned cathedral for thousands of years as the world literally crumbles away around you, the humans you feared build a city beneath you, and their despotic leader eventually captures you and feeds you, alive, to a slime monster.

My theory is that Sulyvahn is a human supremacist and/or an agent of the Dark. He believes the Age of Dark will be the Age of Man and wants to see it come about.
>Builds his city on the ruins of the city of the gods (or, if he wasn't Irithyll's founder, takes over rule of such a city)
>Allows Aldrich and his followers to operate in his city - the Deep is quite likely to be some aspect of the Abyss and Aldrich wanted to kill the old gods.
>Goes out of his way to capture one of the old gods and feed them to Aldrich
>Has any child born resembling the old god's brought to his city to be used as slaves
>Forces one of the old god's descendents to be his personal dancer
>Sends Vordt out to stop the Unkindled from getting any further than Lothric
>Sends the Dancer and some other Outrider knights to the castle to kill Emma (who would have probably helped the Unkindled on their quest) and quite possibly the Princes so they couldn't be used as Lords of Cinder
I don't think he was Hollow when you fight him. He was completely sane, and he was attempting to stop you from reaching another Lord of Cinder and linking the flame.

I dont think you are right about him being sane. Your reasoning is that he sends dancer and vordt to stop you. Well, that doesnt fit with what we know. Outrider knigts are not his personal buddies. They are exiles, its a way to politically destroy his enemies. He gives them this "privilege" of defending the city froum outside effectively exiling them. But to add insult to the injury, he also gives them rings that makes them not only go crazy, but to transform into a mindless beasts in time.
Both dancer and Vordt are already deformed mindless creatures on their way to become beasts (crocodile wolves). We can see their ghost of the past in irrythril leaving together with other outrider knights and they look normal. So the fact that these two are there is not that they were send now to stop you. They were there a long time just being exiled.

I might also go with a heavy 2 handed weapon, but I heard those are shit now. I just don't like using a shield so either is fine.
>>336918963
The thing is though Sulyvahn would have had to have gone Hollow incredibly quickly but it seems like a rather gradual process. He captured Gwyndolin and fed him to Aldrich, and Aldrich must have only recently arrived because you only just missed him when you got to the Cathedral of the Deep (Anri and Horace also thought he was there, and presumably so does Eygon seeing as he assumes that's where you're going). Plus, nothing ever actually says that Sulyvahn is an Undead.
Yes, Outrider Knights are mindless but that doesn't mean Sulyvahn doesn't use them for specific purposes. Even if Sulyvahn didn't say to Vordt and the Dancer 'yeah you need to stop this one guy, ' it doesn't mean he didn't send them and other knights to Lothric city for the purpose of having them turn into beasts in time to fuck with you (of course, my argument relies on the assumption that Outrider Knights beast out faster than Undead turn Hollow).
>>336919361
Pre-beast Dancer's hips tho
>>336919361
They are the dog knights with irythrill weaponry, walking straight implying its their selves from the past. There is also one that had dancer armor. So presuming dancer armor is just the outrider female armor. I think the number of ghosts actually match the number of outrider knights you fight + dancer. I dont know about Vordt though.

>>336919868
I just dont buy it. I dont think anyone actually give a shit about you though. Dancer is weird though. She comes after pontiff is dead and kills Emma. Or she shows up if you kill Emma. What is her deal?
I think Iudex Gundyr is probably the hardest opening boss in all of Soulsborne.
The Vanguard and the Asylum Demon are both very slow and easily avoided by rolling. The Vanguard's difficulty really comes from his very high damage output as he's pretty much intended to kill you. The Asylum Demon gives you a free drop attack.
Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne don't really have tutorial bosses. By the time you've reached the Last Giant and the Cleric Beast you've already played through whole levels and are probably quite used to the workings of the game.
Iudex, however, comes after a handful of hollows and a single giant crystal lizard. He's a massive increase in difficulty, he's fast and aggressive, and his sudden mode change half way through the fight can really put you off guard and also forces you to battle the camera a bit.
>>336919819
The L1 does more damage than the r1 but only by a fourth, thing is both have to hit, which doesn't always happen since one has a longer range than the other when sweeping left to right or vice versa. Also I believe the L1 is faster than the r1

Pontiff is guarding the way to the Twins with her -- anyone who tries to get to Lothric and Lorian gets fucked up by the Dancer (who was apparently a respected enough fighter to warrant getting replicas of the Pontiff's own weapons).
Pontiff loves the Dark, and is trying to stop you from accessing the Lords. To this end, he litters the paths to the Lords with guards. Vordt, the nameless outrider knight in front of the Road of Sacrifies, and the Dancer.
>>336920386
Didnt play BB but what is with you people saying orphan is a good boss? He is little humanoid with slow hammer like shit who does weird AoE lighting thunder attack in second stage. He looks incredibly easy to dodge. Its just that his HP is so damn high it might be difficult to not make a mistake.

I'd actually forgotten about the Dancer showing up after you yourself kill Emma. Following on from my other posts, I'd still say she's there to stop you from progressing - even if you kill Emma yourself, taking the basin means you'd be able to get into Lothric Castle, so she tries to stop you. Of course, the flaw with my theory is that it assumes a lot of control on the part of the Dancer and Vordt, but they're mindless so I can't really account for that.
Regardless though, even if you don't agree with me about the Dancer and Vordt being sent to stop you, I think I still put forward a pretty good case for Sulyvahn having some sort of grudge against the old gods - and again, there's not really anything to suggest he's Hollow when you fight him.

Vordt was there for a long time as implied that Emma know of him and even have a nickname for him ready.

That seems to be the case with most dual wielding weapons in this game, at least the ones that I've tried. I don't see the point of them in DaS3, in 2 there was a huge power boost, but in 3 it seems to just be a weaker, but more stylish alternative to your R1

Lothric/Irithyll dynamics seems strange.
Lothric roayal family are flame and dragon worshippers (except for twins) and, probably, descendants of old gods.
But Pontiff and his church have obsession with Abyss/Dark/Deep.
I`ve expected strained relations between Lothric and Irithyll, but there is nothing. And possible civil war was between angel worshippers and others.
>>336921592
we know that Pontiff was secretly a darkfag because his greatsword of judgement states that his true nature is dark as fuck, and that the skill for it casts Dark Magic (I dunno why it actually does magic damage despite this). We also know that he was a fan of the Profaned Flame, which is a fire that's been corrupted by the Dark, since it allows for hollow and dark infusions. Liking the Profaned Flame and liking the Dark are fairly synonymous. And don't forget him growing wings in the 2nd phase of his fight, which echoes the Pilgrim Butterflies (which is an Abyss-fueled transformation), only on a much smaller scale.
We also know that he had some serious fucking beef with the Royal Family, on account of his treatment of Gwyndolin, Yorshka, and the Dancer. Which is further hinting of his dark alignment, since darkfags hold grudges against the Gods.
We also know that Sulyvahn actively dispatched his outrider knights to locations outside of the kingdom. The outrider knights don't need motives, they're insane, the Pontiff just sends them to locations that he wants fucked up, or to spots he wants guarded, and they fuck up everyone who walks past. It just so happens that all of these spots are in chokepoints that Unkindled must pass to access the Lords, which is a-ok placement if you want to stop people from linking the flame.

Are we sure Suly's clothes aren't artistically slashed?
Na fair enough though I hadn't actually noticed that he looked a little tatty while fighting him. He's not dressed in rags though, he still looks pretty regal, so I'd dare say From just wanted to make him look kind of dramatic. I think if Sulyvahn is insane (and again I don't really see much to support it), he's been affected by whatever weird spiritual bullshit has affected the Pontiff Knights rather than the Undead curse.
It's true that Vordt might have just been chilling there for a while. Emma calls him 'the foul watchdog of the Boreal Valley.' To me, 'watchdog' implies that he was there for a specific purpose, and 'of the Boreal Valley' means he's trying to stop people from getting to it. Of course, he could just be a 'watchdog' because he's decided he likes that one room he's squatting in and mindlessly chases people off and 'of the Boreal Valley' is just because he's from there rather than specifically stopping people from gettign there.
>>336922701
The fact that the Dancer and the other two Outrider Knights are actually in Lothric Castle just really screams something intentional to me, and Emma's last words really make me think they were there to kill the princes. Like, fair enough some random Outrider Knight could have decided to make a nest in an abandoned old room beneath a random tower at the end of an underused road, but I really doubt the two in Lothric Castle just sort of, happened to end up there.
And yeah, taking >>336922195 's points, I still feel pretty compelled to stand by my idea of all the Boreal Valley stuff being the result of Suly going out of his way to fuck the Unkindled over.
>>336922123
It's possible Lothric hasn't been there for long. A few item descriptions mysteriously mention the high wall 'appearing.' Even if it has though, what we know about Irithyll seems to suggest they're pretty reclusive and were content in their valley, rather than wanting war.

Your camera snags in yhorm.
Thats the hardest part of the fight.
He doesn't chain attacks, rest between them for long periods of time, has very telegraphed moves.
Seriously, killing him with a Cartha Roughed bandit knife at +0 is very doable.
The fact he dies to like 6-7 Stormruler hits makes him even easier.

>>336923027
For me the hardest part was the framerate shitting itself whenever I attacked him with the storm ruler while he was on fire.
Actually framerate was pretty shit for plenty of things in the game, especially lothric castle.
So, is all of the black goop that covers the floor of Aldrich's room ALSO a part of Aldrich? It says that he softened into sludge, after all

But they still could have been sent to the castle with the intention of making things hard for the Unkindled, but then as they turned mindless went and found nice spots to hide in. Do you really think the guys guarding the castle would have been fine with some random ice monster knights just waltzing in?
>Wait. Is unkindled Ash the main character alone or actually every unkindled ember guy? Its important to distinguish this. Are you saying that you are a chosen one or are you just one of a many who actually succeeded?

>No way. The spiritual shit yo uare talking about are the pontiff eye rings. Suly is fucking outriders himself.
No way are the Pontiff Knights under the effect of the rings. Outrider Knights are feral and rabid. Pontiff Knights are still very elegant and deadly, and have turned into weird skeleton things (their items say they're become spirits), not animals.

I don't think this is the case. Nothing about Yhorm seems more Abyssal than the other Lords of Cinder. I mean, fuck, the Abyss Watchers are fighting themselves and Aldrich is actually harmed by Abyss watcher weapons. Yhorm and the Princes seem to have less to do with the Abyss than the others if anything.
Presumably Siegward's promise was to put Yhorm out of his misery if he ever abandoned his duty as a Lord - which is what he did.

>>336924763
Well, Yhorm's got the same red eyes as the rest of the Abyss-corrupted enemies in the game, and he was handling the Profaned Flame, which is abyss-corrupted fire, so it's not implausible
>>336896021
Nameless, not because of he was hard. But because of his first phase. I really did not like it.
It was cool sure, when you lock on to him and see him flying with his dragon and stuff. But the camera for that fight was abysmal. The only way to control the camera is make sure you are in front of the dragon always. If not, well good luck.

I wondered about that, with the Archer Giant having his face covered and the dead ones you see all wearing helmets they sort of skirt around the whole Giants having a massive hole for a face thing
But if Yhorm just has two normal eyes then why do the other giants keep their faces covered, the archer giant is clearly doing it on purpose
And why are their heads so weirdly proportioned if they just have regular faces
>>336925069
She is hot and cute, but has personality and her own purpose. Meanwhile in DS3 all grills are just tryhard waifu-bait or ugly.
>>336924343
They were human. They were "promoted" to outrider knighthood by pontiff himself. He also gave them the rings which made them go insane and in time become sulyvahns beasts. We are disusing whether or not are they placed on purpose to fuck with player by pontiff or just happen there by chance (we want to know if pontiff is sane).
>>336924463
>Do you really think the guys guarding the castle would have been fine with some random ice monster knights just waltzing in?
Right. There is also the point of sulyvahns beast on the bridge or Irithyll. That beast follows you down if you run from it. It also guards the aldrich covenant guy and when riposted, it begs for mercy and isnt hostile. If those beasts seems to have purpose even fully transformed, there is no reason to assume outrider knights are not acting on purpose. Doesnt mean they are there as response, it seems more fitting they are there as counter measure to the possibility of you ever reaching that far.
>Yeah, this. You're not the only Unkindled, after all, you're just the most succesful. I think Suly was out to stop anyone who would try to link the Fire.
I start to thin kthis is the case. He exiled outriders for other reasons, but he probably gave them orders as to what to guard. Though dancer is the only one who displays a real time reasoning. Is it heres or Sulyvahns, thats the question.
>pontiff knights
I never implied they have the rings. Outrider knights are givent pontiffs rings that makes them insane and then transform into beasts. Its in the rings description that he gives them only to outrider knights.
>>336893105

where is the evidence that Pontiff ISN'T sane? All of his lore states that he's a very cunning and ambitious politician, right up to the immediate events of the game, where he deals with Aldrich and Gwyndolin. There's no real reason to suppose that that's changed in very, very brief window between Aldrich returning to Irithyll and you arriving

Wait a second. Unkindled was awoken by the bell. The same bell that woke Lord of Cinder to return to their thrones, right? If you want to get really speculative, it could be they were shut away by other npcs. Maybe the one originally guarding the archives got put in its room because it was attacking everyone else.

Yeah, fair enough. I'm perfectly willing to concede that Vordt, Dancer and other knights had been sent out to places to lie in wait for any Unkindled who might happen to come by in future, rather than being sent out recently to stop you specifically.
>I never implied they have the rings.
So what was
>>he's been affected by whatever weird spiritual bullshit has affected the Pontiff Knights rather than the Undead curse
>No way. The spiritual shit yo uare talking about are the pontiff eye rings. Suly is fucking outriders himself.
All about?
My point is that if Suly is insane - and I don't think he is - the most likely candidate for whatever has made him crazy is the spiritual shit affecting Irithyll (see the Pontiff Knights, possibly the Outrider ghosts and the invisible slaves), rather than his own rings or the Undead curse.
>>336925949
I think it can be inferred through the fact that one of them drops one of Suly's rings.
>>336926307
Almost all souls bosses just wait around to fight you, even if they are sane. Suly is there to stop you from reaching Aldrich.
Abyss Watchers are too busy fighting themselves/half of them are corrupted by the Abyss. The others are still probably (sort of) sane. Yhorm's probably just quiet and depressed rather than insane, but he could be corrupted by Dark (the Profaned Flame).

All of his lore seems to refer to a person that he had sworn himself to protect but they died and then after they died he just stopped giving a shit about anything
Maybe he linked the fire to try and bring them back, maybe he did that before they died, either way when he got awoken this time he just decided that he didn't care enough anymore, I assume OnionBro knew Yhorm way back when and perhaps even knew or was close to the one Yhorm was sworn to, he reacted upon seeing an old friend
Also I don't think Lord of Cinder CAN go hollow, they are inextricably linked to the fire and it is a part of them

>Why wouldn't he react to onionbro?
He was a depressed reclusive. He might just not have been feeling up to it.
>>336927891
>Also I don't think Lord of Cinder CAN go hollow, they are inextricably linked to the fire and it is a part of them
This is something I've wondered about a lot. In DS1, Gwyn is quite clearly hollow, and it makes sense - you go hollow when you lose your soul, Gwyn's soul got sucked out to fuel the first flame, so Gwyn hollowed. But then come Dark Souls 3, all the Lords of Cinder seem quite lucid - Aldrich and the twin princes are, at least.
I wonder if the nature of the Undead curse has changed at all over the millenia. Because come Dark Souls 3 and you've got the Lords of Cinder who should be Hollow but seem sane, a special form of the Undead curse in the Unkindled, and Londor is apparently a coherent nation of Hollows.
>>336927209
Talking about levels, I think I'm played the whole game pretty underlevelled because I found the early game really fucking easy. I don't think I levelled at all until around Cathedral of the Deep or Farron Keep. What level was everyone else when they took on Soul of Cinder? I'm at level 59 now and I'm wondering if maybe I should ideally be a little higher for it.

Problem there is that most decent to good Souls players memorize the layout of areas well enough, so they'd notice an unusual or irregular wall added wall.

I'm questioning if it really would be that tricky, since most walls aren't immediately dividing two rooms or areas in a way you could do this...
Chameleon allows you to transform into a near identical item to ones strewn about an area, and unusual ones that standout (also based on lighting) can be detected pretty easily in most areas by familiar players.
If creating illusory walls had to rely on making new architecture, albeit even slight additions, it'd stick out a great deal more.

I didn't even know you could kill his phantom, so I had to dodge both attacks for the whole fight, I just side stepped the first attack, rolled toward pontiff, then slammed R1 once or twice and went back to blocking and waiting for a new opening.
My stats were shit too because I didn't know Poise didn't exist, so I was pumping a shit load of points into VIT to try and be kind of tanky. I think I had like, 30 points in VIT when I fought him and 20 in STR or something with no points at all in DEX

The only thing Gwyndolin did wrong was manipulating the Chosen Undead. Yes, sending a guy on a carefully set up adventure in order to burn him at the end of it is pretty fucking vile, but ultimately Gwyndolin did everything he did to save the world.
Gwyndolin... had a hard life.
>>336928540
Very good point actually and one that I hadn't considered.
>stole them from the SoC somehow
I think this might be the case, because they were brought back to life and we know giving something its soul back can reverse death (see Anastacia and Roasria). Of course, the question would then be why the fuck would you take stuff back out of the First Flame if only to put it back in in an attempt to keep it burning? Perhaps the Soul of Cinder is so powerful that in order to defeat it and fuel the First Flame a bit more, it first needs to be weakened.
This also brings me onto something else: who the fuck is behind the events of Dark Souls 3? There is quite clearly someone or something working behind the curtain, driving the events of the game: the person responsible for ringing the bell, creating the Unkindled, setting up Firelink shrine, creating generations of Firekeepers, hiring Andre and the Handmaiden, etc. Do you guys think we'll find out who in the DLC? Fraampt, maybe?
>>336896816
The music made the fight. It was so surreal watching her shift about with that playing in the background.
DaS3 had plenty of damn fine bosses. It's a shame the covenants are so fucking plain. between that and refusing to get a bit more creative in some spots, it's otherwise the best of the trilogy of souls games, honestly.

Gwyndolin was the original Pontiff of Aldrich's church, Yorshka implies that Sulyvahn usurped the papacy from Gwyndolin after Gwyndolin fell ill. He's been manipulating humans into doing all sorts of evil crap since day 1 of the fading flame, and the latest of his sins is tricking people into sacrificing their own kind of a sadistic sludge monster. The fact that he himself was Aldrich's last victim is a just, ironic punishment.
>>336929810
>he thinks that was about the length and not the content
Retard go and "stay go."
>>336926735
I think the game heavily implies that all of what happened was Sully's fault. Every storyline seems connected to him in some way or the other. He's a sorcerer, like those of the archives, he found the profaned flame of the capital, but he is ALSO the pope of the deep, and as we fight him we discover he's clearly a darkfag too and is behind Aldrich and the Outrider knights. So he really has a finger in every event of the game.
So yeah I guess he's probably the closest thing a Dark Souls game got to a BBEG type that is wholly you know, an asshole.
>>336929813
>whole paragraph about being that guy completed with your whole build and shit.
Its not my fault that Poise literally doesn't exist, I Just kept pumping points into VIT waiting to find an armour set with high enough Poise that it wasn't shit.
The point of my post is that I don't understand why so many people had trouble with Pontiff, he was probably the boss that gave me the least trouble, I died to all of the other bosses at least once I think, even Crystal Sage.
Its a lot like the Capra Demon. I didn't die to him once, and yet for years and years people referred to him as one of the hardest bosses in souls and all say they died to him.
I'm not saying I'm a super pro at the games, Pontiff just seems like a really weird boss for everyone to have had so much trouble with.
I had WAY more trouble with the gay princes or dancer.
The god eater guy was a fucking prick too with his shitty arrow rain, but it wasn't as bad once I realized he doesn't do anything if you stick your head up his arse

Like many others I tend to think Kaathe and Frampt have been guiding the events of the game unseen and perhaps even indirectly. Clearly there is a main conflict in the game with the whole Unkindled one struggle with the Lords, and Emma's request and Sullyvahn's dickery. But parallel to that is the obvious conflict of the Angel Knights in Lothric (who are fucking shit up) and Londor Pilgrims and Yuria shenanigans (who we KNOW are working for Kaathe). So yes, they are obviously still in the game, even if the main event wasn't orchestrated by them, they are taking advantage of it for their own purposes for sure.
>>336929673
I think Dark 3 is probably the best of the trilogy. Building on and improving the first game with some of the best elements of Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne, with a good dose of Demons Souls throw backs.
You are, however, incredibly right about the covenants:
>Warriors of Sunlight. Again.
>Way of Blue so you can get an extra person in your gank squad if you get invaded
>Blue Sentinels so you can join a gank squad
>Literally pointless invasion covenant because you don't need to be a member to use any of Rosaria's services or the Red Eye
>Blades of the Darkmoon literally the same as Blue Sentinels
>Watchdogs is just Forest Hunters
>Aldrich Faithful is just Watchdogs in another area
Moundmakers are really the only interesting new faction.
I'm a pretty rabid anti-Dark Souls 2 fag but I'll concede it probably had the best covenants in the franchise.
>>336927238
Also found it, and another screenshot. Played around with them in Photoshop to make them clearer.
Now, this is admittedly flimsy evidence at best, but I think there are noticeable indentations in the giant's faces behind their helms. On the left, if you look behind the central bar of his mask, you can definitely see a darker patch (more orange smear on the photoshopped one), and on the other guy there's a darker patch which is quite harder to see so I lightened it up a bit.
>>336929670
>why would you take souls from the Flame and put them back in again
I dunno, my 100% Vaati-fanfiction guess is that the Bell steals the Lord souls (which are just withered embers at this point), and fluffs them back up as best it can before reviving the Lords.
Although, at that point you might as well toss them directly back into the Flame, where you got them from, and not bother with reviving the Lords at all, so this theory is looking like some bullshit. Too many logical inconsistencies.
It's probably just making a weaker duplicate version of their original souls and shoving them in their dead bodies to wake them up

>>336911635
Am I the only one that thinks Aldrich should have had way more significance/build up?
>>336930648
I honestly have very few gripes with Dark Souls 2, really.
The only things wrong with it are:
>Quantity over quality for bosses
>soul memory
>adaptability
>worst final boss of a souls game
Even the good bosses were kind of forgettable. It's such a minor thing but having a cinematic to introduce a boss can go a long way to helping increase how much of a buildup there is to it.
Take the throne duo for example. Why the FUCK did they not have some more significance to their fight? They literally protect the final part of the game and are meant to be a big fight, and while they are a decent boss, it would have gone a long way to have them have some kind of an intro.
They have a good theme, a well designed fight, but the area/lack of any design effort really makes them seem kind of meh.

>>336930985

but it isn't? the whole reason they're exiled as pilgrims to Lothric is because they're become corrupted by the Abyss, and the rest of Londor doesn't want them transforming and fucking shit up as monsters back home.

He actually had the most out of all the bosses in DS3. I think he should've just been given a purpose. All you know is that Aldrich likes eating shit and then he eventually ate a god because Sulyvahn helped him for some reason.
>>336930985
At first the game makes it seem like they had good intentions and shit. What with the cleric class being probably one of them and the fact Yoel is such a bro. But once you know they are darkfags, they are probably there out of religious devotion to see the Flame fade and the age of the dark begin, or if you become the lord of hollows, to attend to your wedding and crowning.
But they are there (knowingly or not) to spread the abyss, turn into Pilgrim Butterflies and fuck shit up.

I'm not entirely sure how my post isn't on topic when the thread topic is "Hardest boss is something like Nameless King right? Or Pontiff?"
>"Hardest boss is Pontiff right guys?"
>"I dunno, he was the easiest boss for me and I even fucked up my stats"
>>336929943
Aldrich's church was originally good though. It was keeping an eye on a dangerous aspect of the Abyss. Presumably he lost control of it when they started worshipping the Deep, which may have been when Pontiff Sulyvahn took over. Thinking back on it, he did also have the CU kill Nito which was a pretty dick move (though Nito wasn't exactly a good guy, either), but beyond that, what 'evil crap' has he tricked people into doing?
>>336930204

Yeah, I'm convinced that the Primordial Serpents (others if not Kaathe and Fraampt) are still heavily involved in events, and I hope they make a return in the DLCtwin headed snake final boss of the DLC when?
>>336930661
I don't think the Lords of Cinder are the lords reincarnated, though. We don't even know if that aspect of the lore is still canon after Dark Souls 2 - it seems like Soul of Cinder still contains Gwyn, after all.
>>336930795
I really couldn't say for certain. Could be an indicator of power/intelligence, yeah. It could be that Yhorm is actually a member of the old god race rather than a legit giant but seeing as the games goes out of the way to say 'he's a giant' and make him look like the DS2 ones I think that's pretty unlikely.
>>336931065
>>Quantity over quality for bosses
Yeah, after DS2, DS3 feels quite small, but it's way higher quality (like, every boss having two distinct phases). It also felt a little smaller to me than DS1 but I imagine if you compared the number of bosses and areas they're about the same size.
And as >>336931417 said, Aldrich does have a lot of build up, it's just not in the form of a cut scene. You spend a very good portion of the early game chasing the fucker down. Plus, I think a cutscene would sort of ruin the horror you feel when you first see him.
Does anyone else dislike how easy bosses can one-shot you after pontiff? I understand getting better but when you first face something, dodge wrong and you end up dead. Misjudge a move and bam, dead. It gets pretty tedious.
>>336931463
>doesn't trigger you then

>I was just saying I don't know why so many people struggled with Pontiff in particular when the other bosses were harder
I strongly disagree. I've solo'd everything up to dragon slayer armour and so far nothing has given me more trouble pontiff. I feel it's the first boss that continuously rushes at you and when paired with his shadow thing and the absolute shite camera angles, makes it very difficult. I had trouble deciding when to attack when to dodge
How do you walk down these stairs?
I must have missed something because I've done it on other playthroughs.
>>336932134

Aldritch's fucking phase two Arrow/Soul Spear combo is complete horseshit and with Dancer you have very little windows to damage her in her second phase

I just kind of circled around him and the shadow pontif would usually lunge straight ahead and miss, which then lets you know what attack the real pontiff is going to use.

The teleporting made it fucking annoying trying to figure out where and when it was safe to heal up, and you were constantly dodging that magic spam while trying to make use of your opening

I don't think Yorshka is Ocelotte, but there is obvious a certain thematic connection, probably to establish that yeah, furry tailed, half-dragons are a thing in the setting and that Priscilla wasn't a one time thing.
I mean I could be wrong, it's just that Yorshka is "far away" lorewise from Oceiros and the Lothric royal family. BUT if you are of the theory that the first scholar that corrupted Prince Lothric WAS Sulyvahn, then it becomes more probable, since he might have also kidnapped Ocelotte.
However this all goes to shit when you rememver Ocelotte is a male. Unless you are also in the club of Yorshka as a crossdresser, which given Gwyndolin tendencies might not be that far off.

Aldrich became a Lord of Cinder by devouring men, and may or may not have been forced to Link the Flame by his church. The church was clearly still dedicated to "sealing away the horrors of the Deep" at that point. Aldrich's sacrifices were taken to the Cathedral of the Deep (see: Hawkwood), which means that all of the Church's infrastructure was set up BEFORE they were corrupted.
From the Deacon set, we know that the Church was corrupted to worship the horrors of the Deep, but we can safely say that it occurred after Aldrich linked the fire, since they didn't try and stop him from doing so.
>>336933365
I think there's strong arguments both for and against it so I don't really lean either way. Though, what I am curious about is
>the first scholar that corrupted Prince Lothric
I've seen stuff about Lothric's mentor mentioned a few times. What's the source on this lore? I don't recall his mentor or corruptor ever being mentioned. I thought he just didn't really feel like being burned alive because he was a kid and all he wanted to do was chill with his brother.

the game never misgenders Gwyndolin in item descriptions, it's always very clear about saying "HEY THIS GUY IS A ACTUALLY A DUDE, HE'S JUST DRESSING LIKE A GIRL." If there was a similar situation happening with Yorshka, we would expect similar descriptions, but we don't get them.

>>336933861
You put forward a very good argument. I'm still not entirely convinced that there is definite proof that Aldrich's corruption doesn't preceed the corruption of the cathedral as a whole. Assuming that, as worshippers of the Deep (and therefore some aspect of the Dark), they would be opposed to the linking of the fire is fair enough, but we don't know if they know they're worshipping the Deep - and therefore might not be against linking the fire. Of course, Aldrich being fed people as part of a scheme by Gwyndolin to produce another linker of fire is actually a sound idea and not one I'd considered.
Also does Hawkwood/anything related to him ever mention he was intended to be one of Aldrich's meals? I know Horace was but I can't recall Hawkwood ever saying 'yeah that was going to happen to me,' just him telling you about it.

damn son, you sure are upset that I didn't follow your strict and totally real rules for posting on /v/
>>336935467
the Church was originally formed to STOP the Age of the Deep, Aldrich came up with his plan because he foresaw that the fading flame would lead to an Age of the Deep Sea, and he wanted to stop it. Their original attitude was akin to "fear the Old Blood," only "fear the Deep." They wanted nothing to do with it until their faith was corrupted.
>>336935773
I didn't answer the question because I haven't actually written any posts about myself at all. My posts just aren't following some anon's strict autism guidelines for /v/ and he's fucking livid.
Maybe if he keeps throwing buzzwords at me I'll suddenly stop and agree with him and become just like him so that 4chan stays the way he wants it to be
>>336896816
that fat ass won me over
>>336898278
Soul of cinder is essentially all previous lords slapped together and the flames last line of defense. The flame does not want to be linked. The continuation of the age of fire is an abomination and an affront to the natural cycle. Soul of cinder is literally the first flame telling you to fuck off
>>336935817
What IS the age of the Deep Sea?
what IS the deep?
>>336935959
Once again literally no added value in your reply. I dont know more than before reading it. Why? Are you unable to convey information unless its paragraph of text? Or do those paragraphs not contain information either?
>>336935467
Aldrich got this visions of the "age of the deep" or deep sea, after linking the fire, while sleeping on his coffin. We the players, know that the age of the deep is just a fancy age of the Dark. But Aldrich and his followers don't. They really do believe that the Deep is a holy place, they meditate on it, and prepare for its coming with religious fervor, feeding people to Aldrich (and eventually a god) so he can be "strong enough" to survive the transition.
But that probably just means he is confused about the nature of the abyss, and he pretty much transformed into a goopy goober abyss creature just like every single dark-aligned character in these games, it just so happened that him being a previous lord, and a saint of the way of white at that, he had a lot more pull to corrupt others.
>>336936083
deep == darkness
Abyss == not your average, everyday ordinary darkness
>>336936030
>the flame does not want to be linked which is why it fights you
but what if you're going for the End of Fire ending?
>>336935802
Not all that much, but make sure you avoid completely worthless blogging about yourself in the future, or stop posting altogether, and you won't upset me or others by being a dumb shit. Lurk a bit before posting if you're very new, that could help.
>>336936198
So does the age of the deep sea have anything to do with water, or is 'sea' just a metaphor for darkness itself?
>>336936030
Oooor it's meant to be one final challenge to prove you have what it takes to be a Lord of Cinder.
>>336936083
Abyss, its always the Abyss. Some people like to go all conspiracy theorists and link it with Bloodborne or the moon and stuff.
But really, it's just the Abyss-reloaded with new PR and a better branding department.
>>336936341
just a metaphor
>>336936351
the Dark is not the Abyss.
>>336936030
Soul of cinder fights as if it was the Chosen undead on steroids
Even has that dark grain ring flip
>>336936341
It's just a flowery metaphor, don't take it literally, like most folks do.
>>336936348
Based on what? Set up by who? By the time you reach the flame you've murdered the entire world and have a huge giant throbbing soul of power. No, the flame assumes you are there at the kiln to relight it. After all if you wanted to snuff it out all you ever would have to is simply do nothing and let it fade. It's no test, the flame is protecting itself from you. It wants to die.
>>336936523
No, but I do think the Deep IS the Abyss. Since they both got beasts living on it and clearly corrupt people and give them red-eyes and weird mutations and stuff.
>>336936335
Nice blog post.
Maybe try telling tumblr what upsets you next time you feel upset about things. They're all about telling people how to act so that they never get triggered.
>>336936746
No, you've got it backwards. The deep was originally calm and peaceful, and evil shit MOVED IN. The evil beasts weren't their originally, and the red eyes are in the post-corruption Church, wherein all of the staff got bamboozled into worshiping their own humanity.
>>336936162
>lol ur post is dumb
>I never read any of them, but they're dumb because they're long
Nigga pls, I'm writing each of my posts while I respawn in overwatch.
It takes literally 5-10 seconds to write a paragraph if you already know what you're going to write, and it shouldn't take you much longer than 5-10 seconds to read it unless you have a learning disability of some sort.
>>336936713
>who set up the SoC
the SoC wasn't set up by anybody, it's like a superpowered version of a Firekeeper. Firekeepers are the physical manifestations of the bonfires that they tend, and are a draw to all of the souls that are offered to them. The SoC is a manifestation of all the souls of people who ever linked the fire, making it essentially a manifestation of the First Flame itself, since the First Flame is nothing but a pile of LoC souls at this point. Normal bonfires get qtpie girls, the First Flame itself gets a huge badass.
>>336935817
Nothing ever says Aldrich wanted to stop the Age of the Deep Sea though. His soul just says he saw visions of it, and that somehow led to him deciding he had to devour the gods - presumably this would somehow enable the coming of the Deep, seeing as the church is corrupted by the time of the game.
We don't know when the corruption of their faith occurred. It cannot be pin pointed.
>>336936083
>>336936351
>>336936523
>>336936746
I'm not entirely convinced The Deep is The Abyss but it is definitely some embodiment of Dark, regardless. It was once 'peaceful' but then became corrupted. The stuff about soul dregs and the chains of the world implies some aspect of Dark and how souls work in the series we haven't seen before.
>>336936713
I think the Soul of Cinder is just mindlessly aggressive. Look at Gwyn in the first game, for example. You're (probably) there to link the first flame just like he is, but he doesn't know that. He's mindless and attacks you because of it.
>>336937064
>I respawn in overwatch.
>neo-blizzard fan
Mystery solved.
I think he would have also been a hell of a lot more fun if he was like Monsoon from MGR with his teleports
Rather than being occasional and potentially breaking of the lock on, he could have done maybe 6 in quick succession but the camera tracked each one perfectly so it was 6 quick sudden dodges that you could see coming before giving the player an attack window
Still think he was good fun
>>336937171
Aldrich became a Lord by devouring men, and linked the flame with that power.
If Aldrich had become corrupted, and was rooting for the Deep, than he didn't do so willingly -- which means that his church was yet uncorrupted, and was still trying to halt it.
If Aldrich hadn't become corrupted, than the Church hadn't either, since he was the uncontested leader of the Church.
Either way, the Church wasn't corrupted when Aldrich linked the fire.
None of this changes the fact that the Church was formed to feed Aldrich sacrifices, for one end, or the other.
>>336936895
Makes sense actually. The Deep is then the age of Dark as idealized, tranquil and cozy. That it ended up as abyss 2.0 goes well with the theme of decay and how good things end up shit.
>>336936850
I certainly would if I went to your precious tumblr at all and a dumb fuck was making pointless unsightly shitposts in threads I visit. And it's amazing you still don't understand what a blogpost is even after spoonfeeding. Seems you're more retarded than I initially thought.
>>336937480
>the Age of Dark is tranquil and cozy
I mean sure, if you like the idea of a world completely devoid of all light, warmth, and life, populated solely by backstabbing, murderous hollows who are slowly losing their minds
>>336937289
Nah, if the game wasn't free right now I wouldn't have bothered. Normally I don't even touch Activision games, but I can't see any reason not to try it out with my buddies for the weekend.
Its not bad but TF2 is better.

>player floats up into the air.
kek
>>336937586
I understand what a blogpost is, I just don't understand why you think my original post was one, or why you're so absolutely triggered by it.
Just because you keep shouting things doesn't make it true. You can tell me to do things all you want, and tell me to die, or say that I'm retarded or whatever. But I'm not about to take advice from someone that spergs out over something as simple as a post on 4chan.
You don't even know what else I'm posting in this thread.
I'm certainly doing more than replying to you.
>>336937635
Exactly, the idea of a world of peace and quiet of humanity by humanity sounds good in paper to some. But we know how it just means hollows and monsters and shit.
Link that fire, yo.
Who else has noticed the link between this boss fight and Gower's ring of protection in DS2? The way the faggot hangs on the back of his brother is exactly the position held by the ghostly shape that protects you from backstab when equipping Gower Ring.
That gave me goosebumps when I saw it.
>>336937972
people hollow with or without the Abyss, it's just a product of the fading flame
>>336937471
See this is reasonable but it goes on the assumption that the Church was against linking the flame after they were corrupted. It makes sense because the Deep is the Dark, but in all likelihood the Cathedral doesn't actually know that, so they might not see anything wrong with linking the flame.
>>336938184
they all use Dark Magic after their corruption, if they turned against the Deep/Dark and became pro-fire after the faith was corrupted, this wouldn't be the case
Fuck yeah, talking with all you guys hyped me up and I was able to beat Soul of Cinder!
Okay, so now I've got the bonfire that links the flame infront of me. But, I still haven't beaten the Nameless King. If I leave now, can I still go fight him and finish up other stuff, or will leaving this area count as letting the fire go out?

My wife went to the grocery store and brought home some oranges today. Pretty cool.
I ate them on my first try.

I didn't watch TV yesterday though.

Get off your phone nigga, posts don't look as long when you aren't looking at a 4 inch screen.

Guess I had better start doing whatever it is that you want me to do!
You have bested me sir! You have made your point eloquently and clearly, and it can not be refuted. Thanks for the (you)s fuccboi
>Make a new character after completing NG++ and getting all the cheevos on my first character (strength build)

>Can't decide what kind of dex character I'm going to make (full dex, bleed, int, fa or pyromancy)
>Now lvl 25 and already killed the dancer, my characters ass isn't even fat with her armor
Fuck, even the fashion feels lacking so I have no inspiration for making a specific kind of roleplay out of this character. Give it to me straight /v/, which dex playstyle would be the most fun? Pyromancy is the least shit out of the casting stuff, right?
>>336938069
Oh I forgot about that thing.
I remember watching my roommate equip it (after not using it myself) and running through the foggy woods and the shape becoming super visible and getting kinda spooked.

go full carthus, with falchion scimitars whatever and some pyromancy for buffs, also throw a shit-ton of kukris.

completely agree.
i main lorians greatsword, switched as soon as i got it.
its great how you can see how much they car about each other.

I think tomorrow I might eat pineapples.
Not sure if I'll watch TV.
I'll play some Dark Souls 3.
Wonder if by that time the pineapple aftertaste will be out of my mouth.
My mom really likes pineapples.
I'm playing Overwatch btw.
And it took me 2 tries to beat Havel, can you believe that?
I think I had like 12 endurance at the time. Neat.
I actually beat the Pontiff with my eyes closed.
It was with one of those night time eye covers. You know they look like glasses sort of. Pretty inexpensive items.
My wife uses them to sleep not me.
>>336938817
You're welcome. Just make sure you stop being a retard if at all possible. Try looking into medication and if it doesn't work, supervised or no access to the internet.

I think I may go and download some porn very soon.
I also need to take a piss.
Like one of those long ones that feel really good.
>>336939634
Bro, hate to break it to you, but the feeling of validation you get when someone contests you and you present a convincing argument, the one that gives you a feeling of closure and prevents you from obsessing over the argument, what I assume you're looking for because you keep responding to these posts that obviously upset you rather than finding something productive and wholesome to entertain yourself with, it doesn't exist on the internet. Just quit while you're ahead.

But he didn't hollow if I recall right . Max he was corrupted by the dark or maybe by his own eyes ring (going full POETRY)
>>336940095
Who exactly do you think I am, since I didnt call anybody retard? This thread at the very least.
Oh fuck linking the fire doesn't start NG+ automatically
Does this mean I can try getting another ending without having to restart from the beginning?

It wouldn't have looked nearly so bad if they had a decent lighting system.

Judging by the way he spends his time, I don't think he's ahead of anything
>>336940139
Entertainment is usually not productive. And why did you only quote that post and not his ones too, since he keeps replying the same way because he's upset. Doesn't that seem weird to you, Mr. Totally Not The Same Person?
