>ITT: The first PC game you ever played
I forgot the name but, it was a arpg developed or published by sierra entertainment. Last thing I remember about it is that you are in some kind of floating land in the sky fighting monsters. Played it around the year 1999 or 2000.
Something like this.
The version I played only had black and yellow (the colors of the monitor) though.

Define "PC".

Anything that isn't technically a console?
Because it would be Omega Race for VIC-20 if so.
You fucks need to realize that "PC" != "Microsoft Windows".

some game where you walked around in a mech in first person on PC, in the late 90's. me and my friend would play and never actually figured out the controls.
Some game on a floppy disk where there are 4 players in a big square, each leaves their own trail of colour. You win if enough of the square has your colour.

I hate this meme. Everyone thinks that chess is progressive or some bullshit because the queen moves more squares than the king. The truth is that it's a translation error where the word queen was similar to the word general. So, essentially, the general is at the king's side. It just so happened that the queen is also at the king's side, which brought this accepted confusion.

It's still essentially the general being represented on the field, not the Queen, which makes sense. The general has the most power but the king is the most important piece. The queen just makes no sense, especially when chess is a recreation miniature version of warfare for fun.

Great game. I remember that part on the right very well. Once you cleared the checkpoint (wipes all your weapons) you had to dodge enemies to the very end to get some basic ammo and then backtrack and go up and kill an enemy blocking the way to progress to the next part but what I figured out is you can just jump over the checkpoint and breeze through the section with all your weapons from the previous part.

Conqust of the skies- (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratosphere:_Conquest_of_the_Skies), which is more like a vehicle combat game genre-wise. What you are describing sound more like an RPG, anthe is a bunch of floating islands all over the Final Fantasy games and also one in Speterra core, as well, so I can´t help you further withour more clues.

Doom. I was 8 years old and I was with my mom at her work for one reason or another. It was probably a day we didn't have school or something. Anyway, she worked at the local police station, and there's not much for an 8 year old to do there. The LT comes into her office and asks to talk to her for a minute. They leave for a few minutes and when they come back, she tells me to go with him because he has something for me to do. I follow him to his office and he sits me down in front of his PC and fires up Doom. He tells me he showed it to my mom and she said it was fine for me to play it, so he showed me how to play and left me to it. So I got to play Doom for like 5 hours straight at the local police department as my first PC game. I think that's pretty cool.

Btw, this was 1993, so Doom was a brand new game at this point. I remember how cool I felt getting to play the coolest new game in the world, according to the LT.
A few years after that, somewhere around the tail end of 1996, my mom and my uncle got me my first PC for Christmas. It was a Gateway 2000 rocking a 166Mhz Pentium CPU with MMX technology. What the hell was MMX, anyway? Anyway, I don't remember how much RAM it had, but I know it had a 3.5GB hard drive, which was massive at the time. It had a CD-ROM drive, so among the games and other software it came with, I discovered Myst. That quickly became my favorite game, and when Riven was released I begged my mom for it for my birthday. I was blown away at the idea of a game that came on multiple CDs. That game felt like it was damn near endless to me, and many of the puzzles stumped me so bad I eventually bought a strategy guide for the game to help me out. That was a big god damn book.
