I dunno but I havent played or have any desire to play Battleborn because the art and graphics are fucking terrible. Cant put my finger on it but all the designs are ugly and boring as fuck whereas Overwatch characters look fun and interesting in comparison. Example, Overwatch guns look interesting and Battleborn guns look like theyre made of actual plastic with no detail on them whatsoever. Battleborn's aesthetic is to throw particles on EVERYTHING, super bright colors and obnoxious huds that, like the particles and bright colors, obstruct your view.
Overwatch's colors are more toned down, but there are still plenty of bright colors. The particle effects go away quickly, the HUD is quite clean and overall you could say the whole game is clean looking too.
If you had two sweet rolls on the table, one that was covered in dirt and water and the other one was not, you would pick up the clean one, yes? Overwatch > Battleborn

Disney is by the books but gets off for inventing the books and in the end will probably stand the test of time the best as far as people looking back on it.
Pixar tries to be a little different, very clearly takes inspiration from it's parent but does it's own thing at the same time. Still has all those sweet sweet bucks to pour into it's products.
Dreamworks goes even further doing it's own thing and admirably goes outside the formulas and books but always tends to lack that polish of a full gem. It can shine in scenes but as a whole will always have things to criticize.
Sony is just behind the times on everything they do attempting to join the bandwagon but being years late to the party and already dated at launch.

It looks to me like the work of someone who's in the middle of a character design course and is trying to force all their little design tricks into one product. In the end, none of the characters look like they belong together and it all looks overworked and ugly. But that's not a huge surprise coming from Gearbox.

Despite the fact it runs like SHIT on AMD and I had to use a config to make it look like poop I'm still playing it more over the Overwatch beta.
Too many characters in Overwatch just felt irritating to fight against, the Press Q to Win isn't that great of the thing.
And despite them looking visually nice, everybody is fucking boring as a character in-game.

Everybody has something to say about everybody else and you get to know them better through that. This. It's the difference between someone who understands how to keep it simple but distinct vs someone who wants everything and the kitchen sink attached to their design.
It's also worth nothing Overwatch does the same with the special abilities, which helps the battlefield look a lot cleaner and easier to understand at a glance vs the middle of the fray in battleborn where when you've got a lot going on, you can't really tell what's happening unless you really studied the game hard.

Thing is, there is no real place to do this in fast paced, three objective type gamemodes. And since that is literally all there is, I expect most of the 'character development' will be through outside-game content. Animated shorts, comics, etc etc. Basically just like TF2, only on a much much larger scale since this is blizzard we are talking about.
Battleborn, of course you are going to know the characters by playing them since, especially in fucking story mode, you can see the dynamics between characters and other things. I doubt there will be anything outside of the game itself to expand on all of this.
Just two completely different ways each game is going about making their character's personally interesting, both of which are completely viable.
It's awkward. The character personalities and world of Overwatch interest me way more and I want to know more and see them go through a story together, but they don't get a story mode. Battleborn I see all these characters as just of hodgepodge of "We need to make a character who does this" and "Wouldn't it be funny if we did this?" with a paper thin story about evil man, but they get the full blown singleplayer.

Characters do actually quip at each other a lot in Battleborn, they say things when they so much as see a certain character on the other team in their field of view. It's not a full blown conversation but you can get the gist of certain characters relationships from their banter.
I don't want a long ass conversation out of Overwatch between the characters but Battleborn manages to squeeze out about 15 minutes of dialogue per character that isn't even from the Campaign. TF2 has a good amount of talking as well, I'd want at least that much from Overwatch to help characterize them more ingame.
