Everything from role-playing to traditional RPG battle systems to the way the games tend to "flow". Plenty of these elements can be found in other genres, Drakengard doesn't have a single one. It's a mission based action game with zero role-playing, choice, and you can't even upgrade equipment outside of weapons automatically leveling up if used.

In an of itself, you are correct. Using hubs/overworlds/single campaigns is a genre staple, but violating that one staple doesn't stop the game from being an RPG.
The problem is that it doesn't fit a single other staple. It's as much an RPG as Super Mario Bros. is a survival horror game, or World of Warcraft is a third person shooter. I'm not nitpicking you for thinking Drakengard is an RPG, using technicalities to disqualify it. I'm genuinely baffled that anyone could think it is anything like an RPG.
