To be fair it is a great setting with a lot of untapped potential. It's rather sad they opted to go with an American unit instead of French, British, or German. Although if an American unit is what we're to get then the Hellfighters are probably the best bet since they saw the most action and have the most potential for campaign missions.
I'd play the hell out of a von Kluck game though, leading charges into France and fucking up everyone only for it to collapse. Lots of variety for scenarios with a German campaign. Hell you could even have Eastern levels in Prussia.

I'm kind of sad about the statue. I'm a WW1 buff and I've collected a lot of items over the years, some belonging to family members who fought in the war (both on the German and French side) and other pieces I've bought or traded with other collectors. Authentic gasmasks, cavalry sabres, uniforms etc. Obviously WW1 video games also interests me, especially since it's so incredibly rare they actually get any collectors items to go with them.
Even though the pose is silly and overly dramatic, it could still have been a lovely piece. But to use a black man just makes no sense (no particular disrespect to the 369th meant here) combined with the fact that he's a US soldier. Had they made a black French colonial soldier, that wouldn't have been bad at all. It would have made sense and depicted a very interesting piece of French history, but the Americans are already the very least interesting part of the entire war. Their contribution was mediocre (if still decisive), they were never considered part of the Triple Entente for a reason, and the amount of black men in the service of the US were so few it really does not bear any mention.
It's just shoehorning to a degree I'm actually uncomfortable with, and although it appears to have excellent moulding and paintwork I would still feel it would be a mockery to display it. You might as well make a figure of a Danish soldier fighting in the Germany army, considering several thousand of those were rounded up at gunpoint and forced to fight for the Kaiser. Some forced to walk back home from Russian Poland with no idea of the language and treated like invading filth despite having been kidnapped and forced into combat. The developers would probably not be interested in telling a story like that, though.

Play Verdun. The bolt rifles are vastly superior to the machineguns even though this should not be possible.
Using a machinegun means you are stationary, being stationary means a Russian will pop your skull from across the map in seconds.
Every fight is whack-a-mole and crawling along the trenches and bomb craters hoping nobody sees your helmet long enough to send a bullet your way, desperately trying to flank to the side.
Nobody even chooses to carry a machinegun because it's so useless, you can't do suppressive fire for shit because people will waste you with pinpoint sniper accuracy while you blast your chauchat at the fog in the distance and hope for a lucky shot, and then you die.

They used spotter balloons in the American civil war as well. The montgolfier brothers had invented the balloon 50 years prior and it was a common tourist attraction in France at the outbreak of the civil war. Lincoln decided that it would be useful in warfare and bought a large amount from the aeronautical company in Paris.
Unfortunately they were downed easily by rifle fire so they had to be sent up beyond the range of common weaponry, which didn't stop the enemy from firing cannons at them for laughs. If you could manage to shoot the rope holding the balloon, against all odds, there was no way to control the decent and the poor soldiers in the basket would be blown anywhere the wind took them.

It's not exactly implausible though. The tanks are generally supposed to go before the infantry, and if the allied trenches stretch across the entire battlefield (which they probably did), then you're gonna have to get those tanks across the trenches somehow. And given that crossing trenches are what they're for, and that the British had no use for doublewide anti-tank trenches, you may as well drive the thing over them. The trailer just made it unnecessarily dramatic.

Because (on the Western Front at least), the objective was to take the other side's trenches. Trenches are enclosed spaces, so a lot of the time soldiers would be right upon in each other's faces where their rifles were long and cumbersome. Automatic weapons were a huge rarity back then and kids today don't have the attention spans for single-fire rifles, so yeah, expect people running around with 40+ kilogram water-cooled machineguns.

Pretty easily. Imagine the larger LMGs in Battlefield 3/4 equipped with bipods, except less accurate when using the bipod and when standing/kneeling they can only be hip-fired (but more accurate because its immense mass absorbs a lot of the recoil). They'll be bloody murder in enclosed spaces, but in the open they'll be easy to pick off with rifles because they can't reliably hit you.
