If there's not a campaign, and there isn't a shitload of stuff to do in the multiplayer, people take it as being overpriced. Titanfall being overpriced was an extremely common opinion at the time and it's undeniably one of the reasons why it's popularity faded so fast. Whether you believe that to be true or not is irrelevant, because you are just one anon with one wallet and Titanfall can't survive with just you.
I'm just explaining why this is the case. I don't personally give a shit about singleplayer in a game like Titanfall. But I also didn't consider it to be worth $60. Sort of like how most people wouldn't consider Overwatch a $60 game even if they've having a blast in the Open Beta, but $40 is a lot more reasonable.
