Maybe she could keep ult% for Call Mech depending on how much health it has when she ejects? D.Va is all about hit and run, and picking when, where, and who you fight. You know when the enemy has a really good Widowmaker picking off all your team? D.Va can just use her shield and boosters at the same time to get in her face and kill her in two seconds.
She's also amazing for pushing in entrenched Bastions/Turrets, or completely countering a ton of Ults. Don't use your shield randomly, always keep it on hand. It's your most important ability and a well-timed shield can completely shut down an enemy team while yours demolishes theirs.
It's all about knowing when you have to fly off solo and chase down their support/snipers, and when you have to group up with your team to shield them during big pushes. She's a great tank on Offense because of this, but on Defense she isn't that great of a choice unless you're having a HUGE problem with Widowmaker.

look I fixed it. The only way to make a mech viable is if it were a tank the grand majority of the time and cruised around rather than talk. Low profile, weapon arms as as rotating turret. No exposed sections, thick frontal torso and thick armored legs. No glass, no windows. Multiple redundant optics in protected areas.
A sentry working as infantry support. Legs allow for rubble and hostile terrain. Pilot wears an F-35 type helmet that provides a 360degree "seethrough" of the mech around them.
It's not hard to make fucking grounded designs.

I'd argue that Symmetra and Junkrat are in the right category.
Support doesn't just translate to healing, her teleporter can make or break a team and the shields are nice. She also does very effective damage, but her strongest utility is in the teleporter.
Junkrat can lay bombs everywhere, but it's more effective on defense. Pharah is basically the offensive intended junkrat. His two abilities lay traps for enemies to come into.
D.VA also is a bit more tank oriented than any other category. If there was an 'all around' category, it'd be that.
Roadhog is offense, no question.
