Battlefield has had absolutely fucking terrible 'map flow' since they released 3.
BF maps used to be massive and the capture points were far away. You HAD to catch a ride to get to where the fighting was happening. It helped create 'fronts' where you understood what direction the fighting was taking place, and where the enemy would attack you from. It allowed you to actually defend a point properly. There was a lot less flag hopping since it took a long fucking ass time to get anywhere. It still happened, but it wasn't much of a detriment.
When BF3 came out they shifted everything into making battlefield "cinematic"
"Cinematic" basically means "having an explosion happen on screen every 3 seconds"
BF now caters to the people who have the attention span of a gnat. Map flow has been ruined because the maps have been made incredibly small. You can see every flag on the map from every other flag and you can be shot from ANY direction, at any point of the game.
Flags now change hands every 3 seconds and there's no 'fronts' any more. It's just a constant ever changing firefight where you might as well just spin around in a circle shooting you gun, die then respawn at a different point and do the same thing.
Then someone in a jet goes 90-0 and you lose 1000 tickets to 3.

Okay lets say that it is a zeppelin. Lets say that the Hindenburg didnt crash and everyone thought they were sick as fuck. That wouldnt change how easy they are to destroy. Even if this alternative universe story filled them with a different gas that wasn't flammable, that doesn't change how terribly easy to destroy and inefficient zeppelins are. They would also have to asspull a flexible material that was bullet resistance, etc. Zeppelins cant even be made practical in alternate universe. Chances are more likely that this is some kind of alien invasion during WWI. Hell that would make more sense than zeppelins.

This. There's a huge spike of nostalgia for the BC games because I suspect that they were babbies first BF game for a lot of the people that are /v/-age, so they get nostalgia boosted hard. The BC games were nothing special outside of the Rush map design and the fact that they were tailored for console babies is pretty obvious.
The harsh reality is the BF4 is the "best" Battlefield game but it wasn't actually fixed properly for at least a year after its release. In its current state though, BF4 is quite enjoyable (if you aren't shit.)
DICE fucked up with this WW1 alternate history BS. A simple modern warfare remake that improved on the soldier animations from BF4 with updated graphics, deeper weapon/vehicle meta, and a "casual competitive" MMR based game mode for 8v8 or 10v10 rush/conquest would have been a slam dunk for "BF5" to have been in the running for GOTY.

And I loved bad company, but as you said, it wasnt a battlefield game. And it didnt pretend to be either, unlike bf3/4.
