Honestly I'm a huge FF fan, and I've played them all multiple times, but Persona looks like the better JRPG at this point. From the demo XXV looks like fucking garbage with the brain dead combat and non-existent strategy. It really isn't fun at all, the story seems decent enough but the gameplay and the cast looks so bland that I have zero hype for this game. Persona 5 on the other hand looks fucking god tier and a lot of people love atlus. Need I remind you that people did not like the 13 series and each flop from FFXIV to the mainline console series flopping hard has hurt their brand. No, it's designed to cover their bases. Maybe the higher ups were afraid of this game being alienating to casuals and new comers to action RPGs, so they including the hold button feature. But the more hardcore players will smash buttons. Now this game, may be on the lowest end of hardcore action RPG but it's not as casual as you think.
It doesn't feel continuous probably because of technical problems that could be fixed by the release. Also, Noctis is summoning a sword than hitting, he's not using weapons that are already in his hand. Perhaps this is an intended weakness of the combat to counter the strength of weapon summons and teleportation.

My question is what Persona 5's budget is looking like. After the last trailer I feel like Persona 5 is going to be very similar to P4, with a drastically improved engine of course. The characters are similar to P4's crew, even the boxart composition mimic the original P4.

The gameplay looks great, the most recent footage we've seen of it has improved alot and basically fixed all the complaints that were made. You'd have to outright hate the KH-style gameplay that they're using in order to even have that opinion, since it pulls off what it tries to do solidly.
The open world aspect is still up in the air how it'll be, since the demos and all that have been as populated as they should be. With the focus basically being a roadtrip, I don't see them skimping out on that part and making the world unnecessarily empty.
FF has had a great cast in so many iterations of the series, holy shit what are you smoking? The Persona casts have been like cardboard cutouts in comparison, your bias is showing on multiple levels here.
The stories, aside from the mess that was FFXIII and everything related to that, have been interesting. FFX-2 wasn't all that great, but at least it provided other aspects such as the gameplay actually being pretty stellar to compensate for it. The rest easily outshine the shit that Persona has put out over the years.

Switching weapons is done manually with some new additions for tools, you control much smoother and the auto aim has been improved, and the shield actually increased alot upon the combat since you can cancel animations with it if timed right.

Same here probably. I was thinking about playing the English version of Persona 4 and 5 for maximum comfort. I almost always play Japanese games in Japanese, it's usually not a problem, but damn Persona 3 bored the hell out of me. I got through the Japanese versions of Persona 1 and 2 just fine, but I was interested in those most of the time. I think I had such a bad experience with Persona 3 because talking about useless bullshit with pretend friends was one of the biggest points of the game and reading something I don't care about in English is hard enough, it's even more difficult keeping my attention and interest up in Japanese if I don't give a shit.
