I don't understand how the fuck this game is so overrated. People claim it's the best rpg of all time and Square milked this shit to no end, releasing countless spin offs and they will even do a remake. I mean, it's a good game, but I don't see what is so fantastic about it. I've played several other games that are as much as good or even better than FFVII.

FFVII isn't overrated, it's properly rated, it has many fans who enjoy the game. Many of its elements make it stand out among other FF games and other JRPGs. The materia system was fun to play with, the setting, the characters and the story were all neat. Of course this is subjective, there are going to be people who don't like it.

VIII is 90% drawing unless you've actually played through it and discovered ways to speed things up, like scrapping cards. But a new player wouldn't know that. It failed to pull people in from the start. Something VII did extremely well.

Honestly, it bored me. The characters just seemed so forgettable. I didn't really care when Aerith died, Cloud reminded me of a hammy power rangers character. I'll admit the graphics and the music impressed me, and still do. Just everything about actually playing the game felt like a chore.
I revisited a few years ago with a girlfriend who was totally in Camp Nostalgia for this game. I still thought it was hammy and bloated. Maybe I should play it through on my own again.

13 had two likeable characters and one of them was extremely subjective. The story was shit, square didn't even care enough to tell you what the fuck was going on through dialogue or gameplay so they shoved a bunch of shitty lore codexs into the game, just incase you cared enough about the game to read.most people didn't.

There is no fucking rpg or jrpg or fuck even GAME like Final Fantasy VII. It's and entirely unique and enrapturing experience oozing with quality and pushed the boundaries for 3d games and games in general further than any other.
Well, 6 probably pushed further but still, 7 was 3d and fucking mindblowing. 6 was incredible for pushing the boundaries of video game storytelling and honestly hasn't really been surpassed in terms of raw emotional epic stories intertwined with tight cohesive game world and progression.

There is no other jrpg i know that handles as manycharacters as 6 or 7 and makes them entirely complex, memorable, and endearing. Nor is there any that has as large a world as 7 that handles so many interesting side activities memorable setpieces.
Xenogears isn't even a complete game and just ends abruptly with little meaningful resolution.
It's nowhere near even the top 10 games on ps1 let alone best of all time.
