Just played this the other day and I'd have to agree. I had zero prior experience with the series, I know absolutely nothing about it and was completely blown away by the visuals and art direction. It's so melancholic, I loved it. The writing and gameplay were a little meh but the feeling the world gave me kind of made up for it.

Even if the textures are a little poor, the details put into the model animations are gorgeous. Luckily they seem to be putting similar effort into the animations for KH3 (Though obviously far more cartoony and stylized)
