Man it looks exactly the same. It looks alright, just like Dishonored 1 did.

Good, if sub-par graphics are the price they need to pay for huge levels, so be it. It's amazing what they managed to do in the first game considering it ran on systems with 256MB of RAM.

I would literally not have a problem with retaining PS3 era graphics for the rest of time. That's as good as they need to ever be. Muh graphix fags are the cancer ruining the industry.

>>336502062
I'm so fucking glad people are catching on to how good dishonored was, it had a few flaws- too short, blink breaks the game wide open- but the DLCs were top notch outside of the trials. Where do you guys think they're going with the Outsider in this? Shit was crazy interesting in dishonored, and characters under his spell like Granny Rags had the best plotlines. I like that in the trailer it sounded like his original VA, nice touch.
>>
What's everyone's beef with the first game? I mention it around people that have never even heard of Thief and they act like you have three heads.

What makes this game so unappealing to the average person?
>>
Love the ugly aesthetic in this game, makes everyone look so dirty and unkempt. Really fits the genre.

>>
>>336503797

>Where do you guys think they're going with the Outsider in this?

Kinda lost interest in the character when the lead writer basically said the outsider is just a kid that was bullied and sacrificed to the void and now has superpowers. Ruined the character.

If they fuck up Pandyssia though, I'll be fucking mad. That place is a goldmine for another game.

Infos :

Emily Demo
>Non-lethal drop attacks.
>Sokolov is back, as the Samuel equivalent.
>Riding gusts of wind to platform.
>Parkour-savvy guards.
>Neutral zones with interactable citizens.
>Level design has more vertical options.
>Custom sliders to fine-tune how visible you are when crouching/leaning.
>Console version quick-saves and quick-loads.
>The between-missions safe haven is a freighter out at sea. Your quarters can be customized based on what you do in the world.
>Emily's "blink" is a tentacle that yanks her to the target, so it can be seen by people. It can be upgraded to pull objects and even people to you.
>After staggering a foe, you can put them in a choke hold.
>Emily has a "Mesmerize" power that put three guards into a dream-like lull, allowing her to move past them.
>Placing unconscious people on a bed won't raise suspicion.
>The amount of options the player can take to complete the mission in GI's preview seems immense. More options in this one level than any individual level from the last game.
>>
>>336503980

>New Emily power: "Domino" lets her spiritually link up to four people together. >Whatever happens to one of the targets, the others feel it as well. Emily lured one spirit-tagged guard away with a noise, stunned him with a stun mine, and all four went lights out.
>New Emily Power: Doppelganger. Lets her summon a clone of herself to assist in various ways. Emily can tag the Doppleganger in "Domino," harmlessly assassinate the clone, and instantly kill the other tagged people!
>New Emily Power: Shadow Walk. Allows her to move invisibly in the shadows and "squeeze through tight spaces", and ends upon making a lethal melee kill. Can be upgraded to allow more kills before the effect ends.
>Dynamic windstorms that induce notable sound effects while outside and inside buildings. The raised dust temporarily obscures the vision of all entities, so opportunistic players can use Dark Vision to look around in the storm and do as they will.
>A hostile faction became peaceable and granted Emily access to their territory, so long as she was carrying the unconscious body of the faction's enemy's leader.
>Outsider Shrines are back, and the Void areas are "revamped." We'll be meeting the Outsider face to face and learning yet more of him.
>>
Let's discuss how the high chaos ending is actually the best ending.

>fits the overall tone of the game
>Corvo has jack shit reason to care about Dunwall, only Emily
>Dunwall has to be stopped, because they are killing the whales. That's actually a really bad thing in this game, and the heart and the outsider both tell you this. They're NOT really whales like we think they are, and when the last one dies, the world will be tossed into the Void
>>
>Huge Thief fan
>Get Dishonored on release
>Play for 6 hours then trash on it for days on /v/
Maybe I was too harsh back then, I'll try it out again.
>>
>>336504082
Corvo Demo
>Both characters will use the basic sword-crossbow-pistol trio, but the gadget and power arsenal will differ greatly. Also, each character's armaments will look different from each other. They're really focusing on bringing us two totally different ways to experience the game.
>Several black-market shops around Karnaca where you can upgrade your gear. At the final point in upgrading, you'll be able to make the chosen weapon a "Masterwork," but you'll be forced to pick one of two different masterworks for each weapon. So on each playthrough, your weapons will end up functioning completely differently.
>Corvo's voice actor is the OG VO for Garret, of Thief fame. Hell. Yes. You may also recognize him as Nick Valentine from Fallout 4.
>No paths or areas are arbitrarily locked off depending on who you play as.
>Bloodfly swarms react to movement, noise, and speed.
>Devouring Swarm and Bend Time are back. Notably, Corvo was also able to speed up time.
>>
>>336504189

>Corvo used Possession to chain quick movements across the room, from rat to bloodfly and back. Corvo can also possess corpses this time. Though he can't move, he can still see what they see and play dead to evade capture.
>Every power has an upgrade tree. You can gear them towards stealth, pacifism, and lethality as you wish.
>Blink can let you move through windows, and Dark Vision is less invasive visually.
>The Clockwork Soldiers are now made of wood, not porcelain. No details on them, otherwise.
>The Clockwork Mansion is indeed in the game, with refiguring rooms and whatnot. One can use Blink/Far Reach to access the inner-workings behind the wall.
>The area is described as a bug-testing nightmare, and there are a few other areas that induced several similar designer headaches... Get hype!?
>The Chaos system has more grey morality and leniency. All the characters have varying levels of morality, so killing a certain scumbag dude wouldn't be nearly as bad as killing a random civilian.
>There are dozens of endings and variations of endings, and they are framed by all the actions you take to complete the various levels.
>>
>emily enters a neutral zone inhabitated by karnacan civilians, one of several of these types of spaces where players can get a better sense of the city
>enemies are more aware, look up and climb and leap over obstacles
>more variety in non-lethal options
>after staggering an enemy you can put them in a choke hold. from here you can use them as a shield, assassinate or incapacitate them
So many steps in the right direction. I hope there's kicking.
>>
>>336503721

Not surprising because Bethesda is basically paying all of Russell's bills these days.
>>
>>336504152
I like the High Chaos ending but you let Emily die. Feels right to have you go on a murder spree to save your possible daughter only to fail at the last second.

Also the Outsider's speech at the end is incredible.
>>
>>336503974
That killed me too. They literally set up a lovecraftian trickster god and made him that instead. Huge fucking waste.
Still, none of that was actually in the game. If they keep the same hubris about him and the cult that made me like it in the first game, I'll be happy.

Play it again. I did the same thing starting out. I now like it better than some of the thief games, and frankly no one does stealth right anymore or even tries so it's fucking refreshing to have it done fairly well in a game. Yes, corvo can be a murderhobo, but I'd recommend everyone trying the "only flesh and steel" route at least once

For me, as long as they keep him as a mysterious character, only there to give an interesting perspective on what's going on, I'll be happy.

If they start explaning too much, it'll be like having G-man's backstory. It'll just ruin him.

I'll keep pretending he's a leviathan whale spirit or something and ignore the lore on this specific aspect.

Thats just normal, you cant properly talk about games on /v/ until they are 5 to 10+ years old.

People will always find a reason to hate a new release, and will be bitter about it for years afterwards
>>
>>336505321
Wolfenstein i think surprised everyone for not being a typical FPS, showing BJ just tired of the war.
People hate Evil Within mostly because the initial trailers made it seem more like a survival horror and not a game with horror elements. You can see this from the initial trailer of the first 10 minutes being focused on stealth while the rest of the game was practically a shoot-out fest.
D44M will always be seen as the black sheep in the franchise in my opinion.
Fallout 4 is guaranteed to be the low point in the franchise.

Dishonored sucked
I loved the world, the setting, but too many things were wrong

The game is too easy
The game is also, very obviously, been made to be played as mostly a stealth game
But going "loud" and killing everyone is so easy it's painful

The powers also ruined it
They're not even that awesome or add that much to the game, the most open ended one is possession, but even that was meh

The powers were filler, and even blink, I think was too much
Made level design not even matter, since it has such an insane range and speed

The game was also TOO FUCKING SHORT
It has only a few levels, and then it just kinda ends

An incredible short game, blew my mind when I finished it the first time

The story is also garbage, but I didn't expect nothing more from it
The creepy guy (I forgot his name) was very cool tho, hope the second game brings him up

I mind that they're bringing back Corvo and the girl
They're both faceless, and hell, one is even voiceless, which is so goddamn retarded in a game where you're not roleplaying but actually playing a known figure

But yea, they're both shit characters, I liked playing as that assassin guy in the DLC more
>>
>>336508629

>>
>>336504179

>>336504152
>They're NOT really whales like we think they are, and when the last one dies, the world will be tossed into the Void

>>
>>336509096
Daud's story was top fucking notch in the DLC. A lot of people prefer it over the game.

Yeah the powers break the game and it's too short, but those are really the only complaints I have. It's fun to do a no powers character if you haven't tried that. Playing the game without blink jacks things up quite a bit.

The creepy guy is definitely coming back, even got the same guy to do him

The story is meh. The lore and world though? 10/10. Reading those books in that apartment where the whole family was lost to plague broke my heart.

>>336509507

>>
>>336509507
Honestly, Dishonored controls are fitted for PC I think
>>
>>336509432

>Yeah the powers break the game

I didn't really feel that way. The game isn't hard in any way, the powers are just a tool to help you solve the puzzle. In my case, that puzzle was a pure ghost run, no knockouts, never get seen.

Hell, the Thief games aren't hard by any stretch and you can make the argument that the tools given break the game entirely. Especially moss arrows.
>>
>>336509432
I like Daud, even tho the mans an asshole
I mean, how can I like anyone else in the game?

Nobody has any fucking personalty except for him and Sokolov

I have a theory about the powers
If you play the first few levels, you can notice there's usually a shitload of boxes stacked up for you to jump on and reach a ledge

For example, when you rescue that chained up guy, on the right you can see that

With blink in the game, there's no point for that to be there, so I think they added them in after people thought the game was too boring or slow, or whatever

Yes the world is amazing and graphics are as well, one of the best thing about the game for sure

I'm glad Sokolov and the freaky guy are back
>>
>>336509432

Not that guy, but two quotes from the game I can think of are from the heart, there's prolly more in the books.

>They butchered the deep ones here, breathing in the rich stink of their enchanted flesh
>When the last leviathan is gone, darkness will fall
>>
>>336509571

There's a book out there called Dunwall Archives, you can pick it up cheap. Yup the credit of the book, nothing in there is not actually in the game, it's just a collection of art and lore in one place.

That might actually happen. For some god forsaken unknown reason, Squeenix didn't drop the series after THI4F and are now making a movie.

I don't want to be that person who shits up the thread with animu references, but I'm secretly hoping you can just put all upgrade points or whatever into the time stop power and more or less just walk through entire levels of guards.

That's not exactly how it ends.

There will be no Apocalypse. Basically, when the original writer was asked about the Outsider he explained his origins in some way. He said that Outsider in Dishonored just represents its current era [of that world]. With each new era there will be new God liek Outsider.

So I think when they say
>When the last leviathan is gone, darkness will fall
it just means it will be the end of current era we saw in Dishonored. New one will come and with it - new Old God.

But "darkness and the world collapsing into it/the void" are probably not the best way to end an era sempai, even if you get a new god down the line.

It kinda feels like they need to get more solid on the outsider desu, and the "he's the last leviathan" theory that was there before that was infinitely more interesting. In game, he's definitely not acting like some kid who got bullied and was given powers but ultimately has no control.

I thought they meant it literally, because the society is using their oil for electricity-like power. So the lights go out when there's no more whales for oil. A metaphor could be that this will be the end of an era, but I don't know about an actual void though. Still, that sounds pretty cool.
