Karma system was bullshit, anyway. Only F3 had it to a point where it mattered, which isn't a good sign.
F1/2 had it, but it never affected gameplay. It was just some flavoring.
NV replaced F3's karma system with the Reputation system, which while similar, made a lot more sense for the world. No one cares if you're "good" or "evil" at heart, they cared if you were willing to play ball.

But seriously, most of the stuff that Skyrim got wrong is fixable with mods, except for shitty melee combat.
The world is pretty immersive if you don't pay too much attention to how small the towns are and install a bunch of immersion mods. Most questlines are ok except for the main questline. Combine those 2 things and you get a pretty good roleplaying game.I liked the leveling system

Most quests in Skyrim are about going to Nord tombs to retrieve an item and get it back. Even the fucking BARD'S GUILD requires you to do that.
