I really sweatted this one out. Was out of estus on 1/5th hp and got a 4 consecutive attack finish on him, while he was loading the attack which would have without a shadow of a doubt killed me 0.2 seconds later.

I did. But really I'll be honest.
This fight for me would have been much more fun than fighting CHAMP if it wasn't for the bad camera in the first phase.
The only way to circumvent that was to stay in front of the damn dragon and make sure you are locked on to NK.
Also, I had a little bit of a hard time in timing rolls for his 2nd phase in the first few times. Timing was kinda weird.
I beat him first try with no estus using only an un-upgraded dagger.

That damage he does in NG+5 is nuts. Summoning for him at that level is suicide, the damage buff he gets is enough to one shot you with pretty much every attack.
On a side note it was pretty funny to summon normal people in for that fight as they all blew up my inbox asking WTF NG+ i was on.

First phase is really easy, just get the critical and never stay too close to them (otherwise they're gonna do that huge blast that does shitload of damage and it's unnecessary)

Finally managed to beat him solo after being stuck at him longer than any other boss. I got so close a few times then saw some cheesey ways to beat him like using a bow in phase 2 or using >>336473613. Felt like it would be way too cheap and easy doing that compared to the intense close fights I had with him before. On the plus side though I'm a lot better after replaying the fight so many times. Never get touched in phase 1 anymore and almost got all of phase 2 down just dodging.

Is there any reason to put points into END/VIT if you're not going for a dex build?
I use a heavy STR weapon so even at 30 END all my stamina is emptied after an R2 attack, and armor is purely cosmetic. VIG seems like a much better investment.
I'm a Dex build so I can't wield a shield that blocks fire, lightning, and physical. The camera is my biggest enemy really but I'm also only sl 70 cause I've kept it low for pvp.
Like a lot of the bosses in DaS3, the setting and two phases are awesome, but the attack patterns are pretty strange and hard to get used to. Any tips?

You hit the head, dodge under it for attacks, stay away from the flame thing. Again as I said I could take dis the drake while only getting hit like twice, it wasn't a problem. Only issue was how long it took even though I wailed on the face. On the ps4 there is considerable input lag while fighting nameless because of that damn arena eating up to many resources, you don't always roll when you clearly pressed roll.

I don't get it, he's not that hard at all. He's actually one of the best bosses in the game in terms of difficulty, he seems really hard at first but he has obvious tells on his moves once you know what to look for, and it's satisfying to get progressively better and beat him after a few fights. I think the Pontiff is straight up bullshit though, I don't know how anyone could beat that nigger solo.
Who doesn't do all the bosses in a Souls game solo? A large portion of the fun is the challenge and learning the bosses, what's the point if you're just going to let someone else do it for you?

Phase 1, stay in front of the head and he'll attack with his spear. Getting under his feet baits the top down fire breath that you don't want.
Phase 2, his standard combo can hit three times. Don't try and get a hit after 2 even though you sometimes could. Guessing wrong means eating a lot of damage.
When he slams the ground with lightning, you can be pretty close to him if you're behind him. This is a good time to get damage. Also when he has lightning strike from above, Dodge just after his animation to not get hit. Stay close to him to follow up with some hits.

My man, Ancient dragon's fire pulsed for like 3 hits and was an instant death every time, unless you had that ring that prevents back damage. Also required way more running and prediction. Nameless King's dragon does it at most 3x in a fight if you drag it on that long.
This fight wasn't bad. It's ancient dragon mini (even has way less hp) and a good melee fight afterward. More of a "refined" Ancient Dragon than a straight rip.

Conclusion:
The lock on camera is awful
Don't fight her if you're tired at 12am
She actually hits you less if you stay close to the door due to the elevated stairs
Heal often since a swipe from both her blades in succession can practically one shot

I spent ages using Chaos fire ball before i realised the range sucked and that meleeing the dragon was super effective.
I was able to take the dragon down within a minute with my chaos sword, then i just spammed dark fireball at the cunt while dodgeing his shit.

not the guy you responded to, but Monster Hunter is designed more with co-op in mind than Dark Souls is, so having massive HP pools on the monster, which is 99% of the time the only thing your trying to kill, makes sense.
Can't tell if you're trolling or giving your honest opinion about the HP pool being the ONLY difficulty. I think many monsters have harder to find openings in the sense that in MH you have to commit more to an attack than you do in DS. In DS, even with large weapons, if you attack late in an opening you still are often able to dodge roll out of a counter attack, where as in MH your stuck in your attack animation longer before you can move and the i-frames are much more forgiving in DS unless you're a scrub who uses Evasion.

This guy honestly isn't that hard. The dragon part is harder due to the fucking camera obscuring what he's gonna throw at you. His combos aren't that long, he telegraphs everything very obviously. He has long opening after attacks to get damage in. Honestly I thought the Lord of Cinder was way harder and even with him if you take the fight slowly you can chip him down with little risk.

But my game was bugged or something, every time I pulled one of them to the ladder, both got aggroed. I beat him solo, by the skin of my fucking teeth. I had 2 hp left at the end of the battle, and one estus flask I couldn't break away to use. The fight was literally, roll, roll, attack once, roll, roll, attack once. Repeated until he died. He just would not stop with his combos and letting him have distance was a death sentence. It took forever but I got him, reminded me of fighting Vendrick. 1 hit and youre pretty much dead, tons of health.

Mirror Knight was and is still my fav Souls boss. All of the bland shit in DS2 is worth it once you get to him. The player summons are awesome, a way better way to handle the PvP mechanic from Demon's Souls. It takes forever to get summoned though, which sucks. I just wish DS3 had some sort of similar PvP boss mechanic. There are so many ganksquads around bulldozing through the game that some player phantoms appearing in a boss fight and handing them their asses would be awesome.

took me about an hour and a half on my first playthrough but I just beat him again in less than five tries. probably won't die so much anymore now that I discovered that the 2nd phase is ridiculously simplified by keeping far away from him and waiting on his easily-avoidable air charge for an easy punish. rinse and repeat.

I've beaten every boss solo, except for him. I've only tried a couple of times though, I'll get him next time. If I can beat the C H A M P I can beat this fuck. He's no where near as aggressive and he doesn't do as much damage. The first time I fought him he was only a hit away from dying and I got greedy... next time for sure.

You don't understand how the flame works. Linking the fire doesn't suddenly fix everything, it just extends the ending of the current age of fire, so everything is still shit and dying, just for a little while longer. An age of dark is still going to come, and then a new age of fire with a new flame at full strength.
There will always be people with goals that cling to life, but at a certain point the world is so shit that you're better off restarting the cycle. You can see full well how shit the current age of fire is as you progress through the game, and especially when you get to the first flame. Just turn your camera.
