The Wii is only worth it once you've hacked and soft modded the fuck out of it.
Suddenly it goes from being a Doorstop with Super Mario Galaxy 2 & Xenoblade to a Beast Machine. Sure, most of the stuff can be done on PC anyways, but there's that little novelty of playing Nintendo, SEGA, TG16, etc. ROMs on an actual Nintendork console that fills the heart with joy.

Nintendo needed to fall on their face. They will either be forced to reform and listen to criticism, or they will end up getting bought out by someone who knows what the hell to do with their franchises. I'm not convinced they've fallen hard enough for the lesson to really stick, though. They're already toying with mobile development, and if the NX fails it will be Nintendo's last console. Either the NX is going to be everything that the fans have wanted ever since the Gamecube, or Nintendo will be making games for PC, Playstation and Xbox by the end of the decade.
It hurts me, honestly. I love Nintendo, even though I criticize them a lot. My first console was an NES, and I've been collecting old Nintendo games for years, but I don't support the direction they've gone in ever since the Wii, and in a way the DS too. Bioshock Infinite is absolute garbage from a gameplay perspective and the narrative makes no fucking sense.

Metro just takes everything good about 2033 and dumbs it down, adding stupid shit on top like that absolutely horrific stealth that barely fucking works and less levels that focus on survival and atmosphere.
