Chaos Theory is best classic SC game.

Blacklist is best modern SC game. Both are great fun.

I liked Conviction. I know it's a shitty SC game, but I liked it.

SC1 and 2 are great but a lil but too dated for stealth action. Same as Hitman 1-2 and somewhat 3. I've played them a shitload times so I don't feel like going back.

I revisit Chaos Theory and Blood MOney often.
>>
Blacklist was the best in the series. Take off your nostalgia goggles you stupid faggots.

Blacklist wasn't bad. It was mainstream ubi shit but not bad, it had some decent stealth missions early on and the movement was really fluid but fucked it all up for wow moments and appealing to people who didn't give a fuck about SC. If it wasn't for Ubi wanting mad dosh it could of been something.

Conviction had no hope.
>>
>>336399067
>record Michael iron side in his retirement home grumbling about being locked in a fucking prison.
>starts talking about shit like he has crazy alzheimer's
>Mind bending himself into younger versions and changing the actual retirement home into surreal stealth areas.

I would pay to play it
>>
>>336399635
>fluid movement

The whole point of splinter cell is paced, tense stealth and dry, black humor.

Neither Conviction nor Blacklist had this is any capacity.
>>
For someone who loves Hitman and MGS, what game do you recommend to get into this series?

I have played the classic ones casually but when I tried to get into them seriously I started with 1 and it probably wasnt a good idea since I played like an hour.

I have on steam right now: 1, CT, DA, Convicton
>>
>>336399343
Fuck no, even if you hate 7th gen double agent 6th gen is actually good, well above blacklist
>>336399635
Blacklist was horrible, it didn't even have Sam, I was totally willing to believe those ''spoilers'' on here about how its a double pretending to be him while he's on the run just because of it

I hate blacklist more than conviction just because of that edgy fucker called sam they had in it and grim's missions arent enough to make up for it

I've played classic SC games recently and can confirm they aged badly. Too much trial and error, clunky controls, no point to continue after being noticed, quickload & quicksave: The Game. And Sam Fisher, although looking cool is completely unrealistic.

that game was comfy as hell
>>
>>336403046
I seem to remember that splits jump thing was massively situational. Like there were locations you should have been able to use it but couldn't because the dev's didn't think that you might wanna do a splits jump there. Also the wall jump thing looked kind of dumb.
>>
So what went wrong with spy vs mercs in blacklist?
>>
>>336403190
that was the most confusing vidya related thing I ever experienced
it was unbelievable that a game was actually better on the ps2/xbox than it was on the ps3/xbox 360
>>
>>336403190
The Chaos Theory team was probably so inspired and fascinated with the whole thing, they just wanted to continue creating Chaos Theory.

The game doesn't even feel like cheaper or dumbed down version of the next-gen which what always happened with old-gen version of next-gen games. It is it's own thing, tells the story in it's own way and manages to be more competent than the next-gen version which was basically the official version.

>Implying there's going to be another Splinter Cell
Funny I was just thinking about making a Splinter Cell thread.

I'm honestly very worried about the series.
First of all, we haven't heard a single thing about Splinter Cell in 3 (three!) years, since Blacklist was released in 2013.

It seriously reminds me of the "back to the drawing board" scenario of 2007-2009, where there was NO news for 2 entire years.

I'm worried, anons...
>>
>>336403575
I wonder how it all worked logistically. Did the voice actors know they were doing voices for two completely different games?

>>336403646
Still, the Chaos Theory team WAS their A team. Ubisoft Shanghai, which did the next gen version, was known for developing the worst game in the series so far at that point.

If anything, Shanghai should've done the old gen versions.

I'm very sad that I got to play the Xbox 360 version instead.
>>
>>336403190
DA on PS2/Xbox is essentially an expansion for CT. Next gen DA is a new game made by a less talented developer.

it was hilarious that the old gen versions all got better scores than the new gen versions

It's also funny that some of the FMVs in the game were shared by both versions, and they matched the old gen version more.

People mostly hate that one because it's dumbed down compared to Chaos Theory or even the 6th gen version, that's about it.
>>
>>336404926
Explain how is it dumbed down? It is just re-skinned CT with new bells an whistles.
>>
>>336405086
That's true if you're talking about the 6th gen one.

How about the fact that it has no light meter, which means that light levels don't seem to matter at all, or the fact that there's no sound bar and no way to tell if your noises are blending in with the environmental noises?
>>
They should've gotten Amon Tobin to do OST for all the games
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gbs5k90Y4Xo
>>
>>336405226
>game isn't holding my hand is a bad thing

Well shit son. I thought people were smart enough to figure out things on their own. Its not hard to match the speed ow crawling without spoon feeding info about the noise.
>>
>>336399635
I've been a fan since the first game and I really liked Conviction. It was basically Taken the game before the Taken films became a self parody.
>>
>>336405652
no you double nigger, blending in with the environmental noise was an actual gameplay mechanic in CT that was completely gone in next gen DA
>>
>>336405086
>It is just re-skinned CT with new bells an whistles.

It's not. In CT and DA(6th gen), lightning and sound is dynamic.

In the 7th-gen version. Green light = invisible to everything, yellow = can be seen from 10 meters away, red = spotted easily.

Sound isn't dynamic anymore, crouch-walk is silent, running alerts guards 5 meters away.

Not to mention extremely linear.

Pretty much bang on. The old Splinter Cell's do align with the classic Hitman games in the regard you spoke of. The first two were great but far too reliant on trial and error. Then like Hitman did with Blood Money Splinter Cell hit it's zenith with Chaos Theory.

>>336405785
Same situation. I just like Conviction because I think it ended the story nicely and Sam's character was done decently given the circumstance.

No idea why they had to go on and make Blacklist after it, and even they did why bother with ''4th echelon'' counter terrorist bullshit and making Sam an edgy retard
>>
>>336406241

Kek. I hated it just because of how they handled Sam. Making him a younger edgy and aggressive retard and I'm not even kidding. Game itself was pretty much conviction with a little big more stealth, grim's exclusive stealth missions and better AI. And lots of fucking popups
>>
>>336402945
Nah, Pandora Tomorrow was shite.Worst in the series by a mile. I still remember all the previews popping up about a week after the MGS3 reveal where they tried to emphasise the fact the game had jungle environments in a silly effort to compete.

Like, holy fuck. Remember in older SC games where you're investigating a small innocuous lead like a programmer kidnapped by guerillas, the disappearance of two undercover agents in Georgia, or the destruction of a US embassy and unravelling a greater threat?
Blacklist it's just action movie bullshit. Fuck you Ubisoft.
>>
>>336403046
You could use it like four times over the course of the first three games. They tried to market it as the hadoken of stealth games and you could barely fucking use the thing.

It was definitely one of the reasons why I was off put by Conviction. The big bad mercenary army are like super evil villains or something like that. There was no unraveling of suspense and mystery like in SC1 or CT.

I honestly don't remember much about the story because it didn't pull me in like the previous SC titles.
