It's fun

too bad /xcg/ is dying or already in the eager stages of rigor mortis
>>
>>336395824

they made a guerrilla war setting that had very little to do with actually running a guerrilla war. it was too sterile and boring
its optimized like shit
they hard an unnecessary hard on for the commander

maybe some mods will fix it eventually

Aside from some small stuff optimization, nothing.
Still an XCOM game
>>
Badly optimized so I had to quit playing within an hour and never go back
>>
Any good total conversions starting to appear?
>>
>>336395824

I got burned out at 60 hours, waiting for next big DLC to drop.
>>
Feels like you've seen everything after 1 run.

I did commander then legendary and I have no desire to return until the DLC comes out.
>>
It was great outside of the really glitchy launch, something people may recall that the first game also had issues with. I'm not sure how far its come since then in terms of bug fix patches and optimization, but I have a solid 41 hours in it and am eagerly awaiting the DLC. Hopefully once those 2 big packs hit during the summer, it'll do to this game what EW did to EU. EW got 30 hours out of me and then when EU hit it skyrocketed to 110.

Long War studios are working on a couple of mods for the game and Firaxis are working on DLC.

>Long War Studios announced today it has released the first of a series of new mods it is making for XCOM 2. The mods, developed in a continuing partnership with 2K Games and Firaxis, will be available on Steam Workshop and the Nexus. Friday's mod is the "Long War Toolbox," a set of options and extensions for players to use, including full UI support for squads of up to 12 soldiers. The other mods are:

>LaserPack, a new weapon tier
>PerkPack, a set of 70 new soldier abilities and some new and reorganized soldiers classes to use them
>AlienPack, a herd of new bad guys
>A fifth mod we'll provide details on in the future
>>
It's a sequel. /v/ hates sequels.
>>
>>336395920
But not EW, my man.
>>
just like every other new game, you wait for it to be patched up and get the complete edition later on.

I want to fuck that Codex.
>>
I forgot how much enemy within helped EU once it was launched, i guess we are at that middle stage right now.
>>
>>336395824
I was so used to LW that I forgot how simple and boring EU was, and 2 was about the same as that

Shit, I reversed EU and EW in that last sentence.
>>
>>336395824
It was badly optimised but otherwise breddy gud
>>
>>336395824
The Avenger sucks, there's no more interceptors, the final missions was disappointing and the time constraints were a dumb idea. Everything else is superb, and better than the previous XCOMs.
>>
Time limits on everything
>>
>>336396706
This.

Launch xcom 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> launch Xcom EU but enemy within added so much to EU.

I hope the first big expansion adds similar amounts of shit.

>It's on the workshop right now

Based long war studios.
>>
>>336396847
Am I the only one who genuinely liked the time constraints? Most missions now have a greater goal than "Kill all the aliens" which gives some much needed variety, and it seriously helps make all the classes more useful as opposed to assault kinda getting the short end of the stick purely for their lack of a purpose.
>>
My personnal complaint is that research goes very fast if you are on top of it, and i felt i progressed waaaay too fast from a bunch of cardboard armor to powered superman suits. Predator > Elerium > Powered makes it so you can go from nothing to best armor in less than 2 month, and then surviving is easy
>>
>>336396476

I can't find these in the workshop or are they not available yet?
>>
>>336395824
I don't think much went wrong really. It's your classic 'sequel that adds too much and loses the heart of the original'.

Also it ran like ass which pissed me off to no end.
>>
>>336397135
Yes, OUTSIDE the rescue/extract vip ones, sure they give you a bit more time, but the map are too large and force you to be completely unsafe.
>>
There's a certain charm missing from the game compared to EU, and in some ways I sort of prefer the non procedurally generated maps. But otherwise its great.

The class imbalances are astounding and some game mechanics are too exploitable, but EU had this issue too and it was mostly fixed by EW so I hope there will be something similar.
>>
>>336395824
Its great, better than EU for sure. But coming from Long War with ~500 hours clocked in, it feels like coming back to basics.
Did one run, and I'm not feeling the replayability.

I'm just gonna wait it out until DLC comes along, and big overhaul mods.

>>336397135
I liked it. I really hated it at first since shit felt impossible or hardest difficulty, but I git gud.
>>
>>336397448
The classes are all pretty viable.
>>
>90Degree camera angle rotation is vanilla
fucking
why
>>
>>336397393
But you have so many tools to scout ahead including a class who can remain in stealth and keep on scouting. Unsafe is only when you're going in blind and this game did a great job of letting you get the intel you needed before revealing the enemy. Speed has never been an issue for me unless I did something poor like getting too caught up figuring out how to get around a turret or something. Otherwise I finish most my missions with 2 or 3 turns to spare.
>>
>>336397567
Viable sure, but Grenadier and Ranger are orders of magnitude more effective than Specialist, who is more effective than Sharpshooter. For my I/L games I don't even bother with Sharpshooter and only take a Specialist when I need one.
>>
>>336397970
I always had a sharpshooter because in some situations they helped immensely. However by the end on Commander I lost five units and three of them from that fucking final mission. The game doesn't stack up to EW+Long War but I felt it was better than EW vanilla.
>>
>>336397970
A well placed Sharpshooter with Serial is ,my all game MVP. Grenadier weaken 1-2 pods, she clears them out.

Sharphooter early IS shit, but with a tricked out Gun they are massively effective. Scope + Capacity at least, a Superior Aim PCS and crit rounds. She unfucked so many situations for me it's ridiculous
>>
>>336395824
Nuffin.
Well actually it had a bad launch and still has some stablility issues. It's also buggy.
It's a great game to marathon on a weekend or whatever free days you have.
>>
>>336396476
Am I the only one who doesn't like mods in XCOM?

For some reason they always made me feel like I was playing with cheats on, or otherwise make my games feel 'illegitimate'.
>>
>>336397875
They are more than doable, and if it all goes well i can finish with 4-5 turns easily.

The real trouble, that happened 2 fucking times, is a random enemy stepping in the evac OR some errant shot putting it on fire and then fucking moving it halfway trough the fucking world. 2 late game ironman lost to those. I already cleared the whole fuckign map, let me choose where i extract.
>>
>>336395824
Not a whole lot it's a solid game and once they finish with the DLC this summer we can compare the whole thing to EW properly
>>
I just want X-Com again
>>
>>336399054
dunno how you could feel that way considering the baseline game, at least of the new ones, is fucking terrible or average at best if you're in a generous mood.
>>
>>336395824
Couldn't blame consoles for how shit it was.
>>
>>336399972
I think EW and XCOM 2 are both brilliant, especially compared to the originals - which were only ever decent at best.
