This is seriously the best thing to happen ever since hackers on TF2 got snuffed out.
>>
>>336385834
What is? What am I looking at, nerd?
>>
>>336386469
This. Nobody plays this game anymore.
>>
>>336386469
My best guess it's a guy that got VAC banned and had an expensive item in his inventory. That means the item is now lost. If the 8000 Keys is true it's probably worth around 16.000$ since one key is around ~2$.
>>
>>336386469
This guy had an inventory worth 20k and he used Lmaobox, he got banned and now tries to spin it as a positive thing.

A lot of traders and UGC players had expensive inventories lost cause of hacking.
>>
>>336386469
>paid hack got undetected for years
>people so cocky they use hacks on their main accounts despite being no need to do so
>hacks is now detected
>12 thousand bans in one day
what it does is basically permanently lock the items in your inventory.
The most expensive ban basically burned 20k dollars in game items.
Guy went FULL damage control mode, talking about paragraphs on how he wanted to get banned, despite the fact that until the day before no one knew valve found a way to detect the hack
>>
Is that thing worth 20k just because people say or does it have any actual desire. I can't imagine anyone trades anymore but the fucks that are in too deep

12,000 BANS
biggest mass banning ever for a popular game?
>>
>>336387158
Wait, 12k bans in one day? And that is all from this paid cheat program?

And IIRC those paid cheat programs run on a subscription. So even if that is only a buck a month to subscribe the guys making it were earning at least 12k a month just from this one program on one game. All for ruining a game for the majority of the player base.

Why don't we ever rage on these peoples websites and forums?
>>
>>336388220
probably because its easy to just ban or block new posters on private forums?
>>
>>336388220
lmaobox i think just charged a one time $20 fee. that's still a shitload of cash though.
>>
>>336387745
The price doesn't actually hold up on how good it looks, but sums of that magnitude were paid for it, thing is only a select bunch of people have that kind of money in the game, we're talking maybe 80

My wow account was prob worth a few thousands, with many unoptainable achievements and items and BiS gear. full t3 warior, black qiraji, black drake, immortal, magic seeker, ect ect. and i havenplayed wow for about 3years and im not selling it or planing on ever playing the game, some people just dont care about price of the virtual goods. it dosent have to be damage control.

>>

Not really. I can't tell why that anon is going so hard to defend some hypocritical hacking tf2 fag.
>>
I don't get why anybody would expect not to get caught using mainstream hacking tools. The only way you could not get caught is if you were paying good money for some exclusive hack few people would ever use and hope to stay under the radar.

As soon as hacks are advertised openly online you can be sure volvo has it and can figure out a way to detect it. Then they just need to wait long enough to ban as many people as possible. Those people really got what they deserved.

>>336390131

If you didn't care you wouldn't write full page rants explaining that you don't care. You just, like, wouldn't care.

The extent to which some of these people try to explain why getting VAC ban was the best thing that ever happened to them proves how buttdevastated they are.
>>
>>336391053

They actually had thought of that, which is why every user had a different binary, loaded every time the hack run.

The Lmaobox devs knew there was an exploit in their own hack that made it easily detectable, but Valve found it first when the github leaked.

I love how everyone here assumes valve couldn't ban cheaters until they got the cheat for themselves, valve has the debug tools to ban any cheat they want. They literally just don't care.
>>
>>336393027
so it sounds like Valve is shit at cheat detection and just used a blacklist for 99% of the job instead of behavioral recognition.

it would be interesting to see what they finally keyed in on and whether it will be trivial to just work around that fault again...

>>336393483
You could say that, yeah. But then Lmaobox can go from the very obvious constantly spinning, constantly headshotting kind of aimbot to the very subtle, "is this guy hacking or just really fucking good?" kind of aimbot.

Didn't CS:GO have a thing some months ago where someone released a free "undetectable" hack that that intentionally did something barely visible but a clear sign of hacking, that Valve caught on and promptly issued a banwave?
>>
So how is the trading economy going to look after this?

Any different at all or more or less the same?
>>
>>336393592

It's not and it's not, it just takes time and resources for valve to do it. That's why they mostly aim for the big ones and take their sweet time collecting cheater logins before issuing a big ban wave. This is more dissuasive that way, you never know when you'll get caught.

>>336393857

They have to figure out a way to detect the hack which won't produce false positives yes. Still not sure what you're trying to say. Someone has to code the cheat detection code at some point.

I agree it's important to buff the weapons that are worse than stock (eg Sun on a Stick), as well as nerfing the weapons that are much better than stock (eg Disciplinary Action).

However, some classes do still need new weapons, and balancing out the existing ones hasn't been happening anytime soon, so might as well ask. Medic only has 13 unique weapons, pic related is his whole arsenal, compared to Soldier's 26 available weapons. The last time Medic or Spy got a weapon was in 2012.

Give Engineer, Spy, Medic, Pyro, and Heavy one new weapon each and the amount of weapons in the game will be perfect.
>>
>>336394082
TF2 cheats are not on the cutting edge of coding, most of them still use the same coding base from 2012 made by another MPGH paster. You do realize the only reason why LMAOtrash hadn't received a vac wave years ago is because the dev just hides the process as internet explorer. Something vac can easily find.
>>
>>336394256
From what I heard, they could have banned VAC, but they would have had to use invasive anticheat measures to check your computer's running processes constantly, and I'm glad they didn't take that path since now we got the cheats detected anyway.

Considering Steamguard and Steam Mobile Authenticator, and Steam itself already being a DRM, I don't particularly want any more of that kind of shit.
>>
>>336393483

Behavioural recognition is tricky though. It can be very effective but Valve can't take the risk to ban even one player by mistake, they need to be very conservative about their banwaves.

It can be very hard to differentiate between a good hack and a very good player based on behaviour alone.

Besides that requires tuning and maintenance which means that it takes dev time and costs money.

I think Valve current approach is fine, they don't need to catch all the cheaters, they just need to catch enough of them so that other players realize that it's too risky to cheat. It's all about dissuasion, cheaters always gonna cheat anyway.

>>336394505

Ah that's what I remembered then. Thanks.

>>336394816

Well sure but they still have to write the code to do it and make sure it's not buggy. That's maybe a few days work for a dev which needs to be scheduled etc... I'm sure it's not very complicated code to write but there's a lot of overhead to that sort of stuff when you run a big company. I'm sure they try to do as little as possible, especially with a game like tf2 that's probably really low on their radar these days.
>>
>>336394020
Considering it was only a couple thousand TF2 item-focused accounts banned, not much. The Hat economy will go on unfettered.

The two week market hold if you don't have a phone for the authentication has had a far stronger effect on market prices, since the majority of people don't have a smartphone or means to receive texts. Takes much longer for shit like cards to plummet to the 0.03 to 0.07 they all usually get to if the game is at all popular. I've seen the price of cards even steadily increasing for smaller games.

Even a single weapon can be gamechanging, for example what Rescue Ranger does to Engineer's playstyle.

Panic Attack sort of counts, but since it's an underwhelming numerical change and allclass, you're pretty much right.

What I would REALLY want to see is a new PDA for the Engineer. The only thing he's gotten in 9 years in the way of buildings is a smaller version of the normal Sentry.

He needs more options in that regard, they might even be able to give him something that makes him not so fucking useless outside of turtling last point defenses to shit.

True but depends who you're playing against. most competent players know how to focus down a Sentry and then Jag gimps you even harder because of its repair rate.

That said it fucking frustrates me in pubs when a clever engineer on offense builds a sentry overlooking our defense while his team is pushing, because most pub teams are completely incapable of dealing with the sentry and the enemy at the same time, and then they get melted by the lv3.

It's true that Engie has great tricks like that, but again, it depends on who you're playing against and in what mode.

I'm mainly referring to symmetrical 5CP, because it's going to be the main competitive mode for matchmaking. And in 5CP vs competent players you're not really going to get the chance to build a sneaky Lv3 and sentry jump to a good location without setting your team back a fair bit from being down a player, especially because you can't roll out quickly. It's been tried before, and it's impressive but not effective.

the competitive scene has grown since valve indicated interest in the game; europe, america, australia and asia all have decently sized professional leagues for 4v4, 6v6 and 9v9 modes. There are actually money prizes in the bigger leagues, and Valve supplies in-game medal cosmetics to the winners of certain finals, so there's some incentive to go competitive and a lot of players do.

also the fucking xbox 360 version had a competitive scene until around 2011, which still tickles my funnybone to this day. It was basically just Heavies walking at each other

However, they are also super srs no fun allowed on the level of competitive Smash players. 6v6 only uses 4 classes 90% of the time and bans about 66% of the weapons in the game, and they've even taken to just automatically banning any new weapon valve releases so that's kind of retarded

The unnusual itens are very rare and drop from a 2 dollar item

just think:

If getting an unnusual have a 5% chance, it means it is worth on average 20 keys, or about 40 dollars.

But some specific combinations of hats + effects look cool and are mathematically much rarer.

Like a pyro hat with a fire effect, needs you to drop both the pyro hat and the desired effect, making the chance of getting one in 1 every 1 or 2 thousand keys (2000-4000 dollar)

That is the average value. No one but serious authists consider even buying those stuff, and usually even the most authistics buy the hats worth 200-500 dollars.

2k above is pretty much stuck with whoever unboxed, unless he desires to drop the price dramatically.
