I have some gameplay questions:
What determines the border thingy in PCB? I always get it when I don't need it as opposed to when I'm swamped with bullets.
How do I gitgud at TEoSD? I'm okay-ish at dodging stuff, but not being able to see my hitbox makes things really hard.
When should I be using form and when should I be using focus/youkai form in IN? I get that bosses throw things around that you can destroy as a human, but I can never seem to deal enough damage to destroy those human-projectile-only thingies in time.

I love the characters, music, and setting. But bullethells, even after all these years, are still very new to me and are challenging on an entirely different level than any other genre of games are to me.

To this day the only games I've played in the series are the fightan spin-offs, Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and Hisoutensoku. They're pretty fun.
I'm terrible at bullet hell games, though, but a handle of characters from the series seem interesting enough to me to stand out, despite being 'Mary Sue'-esque like anon stated earlier.

Try all the shot types and use the one you most like, that will help because Patchouli uses different spellcard in each shot type you are using.

There are three values:
Cherrymax and cherry+, which are affected by borders/grazing/dying/bombing. They are scoring related.
Cherry+, which determines when you get borders.
After the border ends, cherry+ goes back to 0, and you start again. You can get many borders per stage. Unfocused shooting and getting big bullet cancels at the end of an attack will get you more cherry+.

Familiars are what the things bosses throw are called. The advantages to being over 80% is only more time gathered(more continues/score), so the only reason to use human besides the speed and shot type is extra time from killing and ability to kill familiars.

Depends on the card, for new players not much, as you'll lose too much time and risk losing. Exceptions are some of characters like Eirin or Marisa, but usually you only go sfter them for score. Try cards in spell practice and see what works best for you. That's what the mode is there for after all.

That's pretty much the only way man-eating youkai can eat, considering that they aren't allowed to eat humans from the Human Village. It's a weird relationship the humans and youkai have in Gensokyo. The humans serve to provide faith for the various gods, youkai, and other monsters that are disappearing in the outside due to logic and reason causing a loss in faith. The humans get to have close contact with the supernatural on a daily basis, I guess. They don't really get much else out of the deal but they aren't too saddened out of it, the poor ignorant stubborn hick fucks. Basically, Gensokyo is one massive nature reserve for the supernatural and Reimu is the park ranger making sure shit doesn't go awry and cause an imbalance in the fragile structure of the land.

It's not like the Village has some sort of unbalanced population either.
