Do you minmax like a faggot or try to make a realistic stat distribution?

Is it possible in BG2 to make a fighter-class that uses dex for melee combat?

To answer OP: I don't dumb stats but I aim for at least 16 in my class' important stats.

I think he means using dex instead of str to calculate hit and damage

as far as I know you can't, dex is for ranged weapons only

dex also improves your AC

it basically means attack bonus or whatever, except it goes backwards, like AC goes backwards in these games as well. it's not complicated desu
>>
>>336356960
It's the basic hit chance. THAC0 at 16 gives you a 5/20 (25%) chance to hit. Enemy positive armor class gives a 1/20 (5%) bonus per point, negative armor class gives a 1/20 penalty to hit.

That depends on the wand's spell level, though.
Not quite sure about BG numbers, but in NWN usually wand of MM is only slvl3, so only fires 2 missiles. I think I even seen wands in BG that only fired a single missile.
Sometimes wands are just weak and aren't even worth using.

...no? A fighter, ranger, or paladin who rolls an 18 for strength also rolls a percentage die. That's what the 29 in 18/29 is.

There's nothing magical about it, it's just that the classes who depend most on the strength stat get further gradation within that stat.

>Katana

>The katana is a single-edged, slightly curved sword that ends with a chisel point. The katana is perhaps one of the finest swords ever made, the steps to its creation a long and secret process, that is more art form than anything else. This blade is an important facet of Kara-Tur culture. To touch or wield a samurai's katana is to insult the samurai and to incite his wrath. For a gaijin, or foreigner, to own such a blade is a rare occurrence. Either the gaijin is a greatly honored friend of an important minister, or the gaijin has murdered a samurai.

Minmax all day every day.

Realistic stat distribution is a concept intended with a human DM in mind, who will alter encounters accordingly - both for RP and Combat.

With a predetermined enemy, not going for the best is objectively shooting yourself in the foot.

You just have 19 strength. Exceptional strength (the percentile) only exists to give a greater range for most player race warriors without letting them have 19 which is meant to be beyond human capability. From 3E onward everything just uses +1/-1 modifier for every 2 points above/below 10.

19 Strength means you effectively have something like 22 or 24 strength. 18 is 18, 18/01 is 19, 18/100 is A LOT. 19 is that number +1, 20 is +1 more, and it basically goes on like normal after that.

I have no idea what were they smoking and why only one stat has this bullshit at only one number.

Normalizing stats across classes i is one of the many, many things that 3E did that completely fucked martial classes over because it gave previously martial-only benefits to classes that weren't martials. There was a damn good reason things like getting the most benefit out of constitution were restricted to them.

They could do something like add a rule saying "this class has been pumping so much weight to get to this level, he now always has +1 Str no matter what his score is". Instead, you have to find and then roll a 100-sided die to determine if you get something like +25% to your strength out of the bag, or you are fucked and get just a measly +1 for picking Warrior.

It's not like anybody can get to 19 Str normally, and if you find an artifact that lets you, you get 19 Str regardless of if you are a martial class or a wizard.

So when do spells get good? What buffs are even useful? It seems like 90% of these spells and buffs are situational as fuck.
>>
>>336388815
Haste (3rd level mage) is useful as fuck.
Bless (1st level cleric/druid) and Chant (2nd level cleric) are both good for the entirety of the trilogy.
Mirror Image (2nd level mage) is a good all-purpose buff.
Ghost Armor (3rd level mage) and Spirit Armor (4th level mage) are great for Fighter/Mage multiclass.
There's a lot of good buffs at all levels. These are just the ones that immediately leapt to mind.

A Bhaalspawn's stats should be way above an average dude's. Sarevok had 95 points. Abdel Adrian, the shitty but still canon BG protagonist was over seven feet tall and regenerated faster than a troll. Think I went until I got 97 total then fed the PC all the stat tomes. There are way too many Wisdom tomes but I guess casting Wish will be fun later on.

My PC was a dual katana weaboo monster all through BG1, then dual classed to Mage and instantly went from best to worst in the party. Just about to regain my Kensai levels at the end of SoD and probably break the game's difficulty all through BG2.

Originally if you imported a BG1 save into BG2, certain items from BG1 can be found in a chest later on in Irenicus' dungeon. If you import a SoD save, most of the new SoD items will appear in BG2, but as drops on various enemies. Example some of the Shaman gear can be found in the Sewers I think.

Wanted to play a neutral well educated mercenary type but almost every choice is more black and white than I remember from my teens. The best I can usually do is always accept quest rewards instead of passing on them for Rep. That plus occasionally making shitty choices for the sake of profit or revenge (killed the fuck out Shandalar for teleporting us to Ice Island, lost 7 rep but it was worth it and he even dropped a Neutral Archmagi Robe) helps keep the party's rep just barely low enough that Viconia won't leave.
>>
>>336399186

Ranger was restricted to any good in 2e. That restriction was lifted in 3e.

In BG, you can only regain your ranger status with the ranger stronghold quest.

BG2 has always allowed you to carry over BG1 loot. Only a few specific items like the Helm of Balduran, a few accessories and a few specific +2 or +3 armors. The Helm is good pretty much all through the series but the rest of that stuff is outclassed by BG2 gear pretty fast.

Sleep is amazing for the first half or so of BG1 where you're fighting packs of Gibberlings, Kobolds and Bandits. It puts the entire group to sleep which gives a big hit chance bonus that offsets terrible low level THAC0. Most enemies after Bandits are nearly or completely immune to it though. Magic Missile is the staple single target damage spell but its a waste to memorize it until you are high enough level to fire 3-5 missiles at a time. Haste is fantastic, Fireball will win most fights easy especially if you can catch all the enemy Mages in it before they can get their opening spells off.

Clerics can do anything. It is ridiculous how good their buffs are. Draw Upon Holy Might, Holy Power and Defensive Harmony will turn a Cleric into the best melee in your party.

What's the difference between dual classing and the multiclassing from later editions?
>>
>>336402678
dual classing is a retarded clusterfuck, don't ever do it. it's something like it completely disables all the abilities of your first class until your second class gets as much xp as it. great game experience right there, being useless for entire chapters of the game
>>
>>336402678
You can only dual class once and it permanently moves you over to your new class, it's very strict on stat requirements, your original class' abilities are disabled until you hit your original class' level in your new class, and your XP track becomes the new class' outright instead of being based on your total level.

3E's class system is nothing like what came before it.

Cleric/ranger gets more, right? It's still less apr than a pure class fighter, though?
>>
>>336403253
Kensai/Mage isn't the only dual class that wrecks shit.
Berserker -> Mage
Cleric -> Mage
Fighter -> Cleric
Are all beasts.
>>
>>336403424
it says all this in the manual, there's tables with all this info
>>
>>336402678
Dual Classing: You drop your current class keeping nothing but your current HP and start over as another class at Level 1. You instantly become shit, but once your new class goes one level higher than your original you regain all the abilities of your previous class, although you will never gain any further experience in your previous class.

Multi Classing: You are both or all three of your classes at the same time and the experience you earn is split between them. You can do a large variety of things but you aren't particularly good at any of them because your XP is split and you level slower. I think you might also never be able to cast the highest level spells because you'll hit the xp cap before you could.

APR are normally limited to one per class. Fighters get ½ attack at level 7 and 13. Furthermore 2 prof points in a weapon give an additional ½ attack. Dualwielding gives 1 attack extra and certain weapons also gives more attacks. There's a hardcoded limit on 5 APR.
>>
>>336402678
>What's the difference between dual classing and the multiclassing from later editions?
Dual Classing is human only. You start play as one class, then when you decide to dual class, lose all your abilities in your original class and start at level 1 in a second class. Only your HP and you saving rolls (I think) carry over. Whenever you gain a level, it goes into your second class.

After you gain enough levels in your second class to surpass your original class, you regain your original classes abilities. You still only gain levels in your second class.

2nd edition multiclassing is non-human only, with restrictions. (For examples, I think dwarves can only multiclass as fighter/clerics and fighter/thieves, and halflings only as fighter/thieves.) A multiclass character has both classes abilities at all times, but any XP they get is split 50/50 between both classes. Note that in 2nd edition, different classes leveled up at different XP amounts, so a fighter/thief, for example, will quickly become a higher-leveled thief than a fighter.

No multiclass characters can have kits for either class.

3rd edition D&D multiclassing is completely different. When your character gains enough XP to level, they can choose to gain that level in any class they qualify for. You can get an XP penalty if you have too many different classes that are two far apart in level, but aside from that you can totally be a level 2 ranger/level 1 bard/level 4 barbarian/level 8 cleric.

Granted, such a character would be terrible, but you could play one.
>>
>>336403618
Why would you do cleric/mage dual?
You get max level cleric spells, then instantly lose them and become a level 1 mage.
I'd say multi works much better.
>>
>>336403773
What's the reason for Imoen not being available?
>>
>>336403424
>How does attack per round work?
You gain half an attack per round at levels 7 and 13 in warrior classes, plus you gain half an attack per round with any weapon you're specialized in. There's no difference between a Fighter and a Ranger's APR beyond their different XP requirements and a Cleric/Ranger will eventually catch up but it'll take awhile because they're not gaining Ranger XP as fast as a single classed Fighter is.
>>
>>336403618
how powerful the end result is isn't really what I'm talking about

losing all your abilities is dumb, and the way it impacts different classes differently is dumb. also the way you can dual class out of kits but not into kits is dumb. it's just a big load of shit

I wish it would be as easy in 3E to multiclass as in 2E, but it completely destroys any spellcaster's potential if you try to go fighter/cleric, fighter/mage, cleric/mage or any similar.
There's too much reliance on prestige classes.
>>
>>336404069
That sounds retarded.

>>336404052
>you can dual class out of kits
It doesn't really make any sense that you can do this. Kits are already specialised sub-classes. Suddenly disregarding this choice by shifting from, say, kensai to generic mage is ridiculous. It would make more sense that fighters could dual into paladins.
>>
>>336404487
It is. She was casting 5th level spells by the end of my BG1 game and they suddenly have her barely able to cast Shield.
>>
>Baldur's Gate is now the ADOM of the current generation.
>>
>>336404376
Well no shit multiclassing is terrible when classes aren't on par with each other. It's a direct consequence of the fact that progressing spells and possibly class features is inherently more powerful per level than a level of Fighter or Rogue are.

Martials have no problem multiclassing like mad because not only are most of their features frontloaded instead of gained through level progression, damn near all of the abilities they need to function are spread across multiple classes, with Spirit Lion Totem Barbarian's level 1 access to Pounce so they're not fucked in the ass by the shit tier full attack mechanic being the most obvious one.
>>
>>336404376
prestige classes are gay as fuck. I thought skills and feats would be how you choose what your character is like, within its class, but no, that class/skill/feat selection that looks like it's what you want is just straight up worse compared to finding the exact special snowflake prestige class
>>
>>336404616
I will admit I have never played an RPG where you have to draw your own maps. Too casual for that.
>>
>>336404616
I played the shit out of baldur's gate, but I don't think it's really good or anything
>>
>>336404768
Worst part is that usually the PrC you want won't be in the game.
At least NWN2 has Eldritch Knight which trades bonus mage feats for more attack and health, but NWN1 doesn't even have a spellblade. I also liked playing as a cleric/mage, but no games have Mystic Theurge.
>>
>>336404825
I still have a folder with my pencil-drawn maps from my Fighting Fantasy adventures.
>>
>>336404954
Mystic Theurge is an awful class that makes you borderline useless until epic levels and is still horrible due to most of the good spellcasting classes having different spellcasting stats. The only way to get it to work even halfway decently is with Archivist/Wizard because spontaneous spellcasters have shit spell progression and MT makes that problem even worse because you're now a level 8 character with level 2 spells.
>>
>>336350020

Min/Max because it's expected, and there's literally no downside / restriction to rerolling until you get what you want. I don't even know why the rolling exists in these games.
I guess it's so you can intentially handicap yourself if you want a challenge.

Anyway, I wish metagaming and minmaxing wasn't pushed in games so much. It would be nice to just be able to play a game rather than worry about the extra 1% of whatever the hell gives you an edge.
>>
>>336405353
Its not expected at all in BG. Games like AoD expect you to though.
>>
>>336404954
it feels like the only time you'd want to multiclass normal classes is because you need to to get access to some gay prestige class. can't I just be a fighter/thief or whatever without being laughably suboptimal? what a shit system
>>
>>336405582
>can't I just be a fighter/thief or whatever without being laughably suboptimal?

>>
>>336405582
The worst part of prestige classes are that the usually only offer some special feats, which could just as easily be available to normal classes. Why do I need to take a level as shadow dancer to get hid in plain sight? Couldn't a highly skilled thief do that anyway?

You'd have to ask the game devs. Grandmastery isn't part of the core 2e rules. It was introduced in an obscure side book.
Hell BG doesn't even do Grandmastery correctly.

>>336406972
Better arbitrary yet functional as compared to non-arbitrary but built to fuck over almost everyone.
>>
>>336405353
It's a dilemma, if you make the game easy enough, people will optimize their character anyway, making the game too easy. And if you remove opportunities to min-max, the character doesn't matter much because you can't go wrong.
There's also scaling, but then the player will feel like the game being unfair, if it's always too hard, or pointless. if it's always easy.

if you want to truly min/max without using dual classing

- assassin kit - thief class - reason: able to handle the dps while the team handles traps/locks. Nothing beats asassin in burst that can one shot almost everything. Gains access to the OP abilities that lets them use any weapon/armor/item in the expansion for true ridiculous powers.

undead slayer kit - paladin - reason: access to the best 2h weapon in the game, immunity to level drain. If you want you could have a priest cast immunity level drain or be forced to wear a certain necklace but fuck that, this way you can fuck 1/3rd of the games most dangerous creatures on their most dangerous attacks

inquisitor kit - paladin class - reason: fuck magic. With this kit you will rape any caster and spell defense and still get access to the best 2h in the game. Just watch out as it will remove your own buffs too if you aren't careful.

honorable mention

bounty hunter kit - thief class - reason: fairly weak at first, the traps you get later will literally break the game with their op damage and effects. The reason why this doesn't place even better is traps can't be placed in combat so if the game drops you into a live encounter (most fights) you will be able to use nothing.

One more reason to go with thief class is they have the best unmodded hideout. (fuck the empty sphere) You can make some big gold here and there are mods to further integrate non-lore breaking utility. Running your own thieves guild can be fun. Spehrefags are the worst but to be honest once you finish the sphere quests and the events it will sit like a one room wonder.

You are aware that dorf con usually ends up with a dorf having an entire additional character's worth of soak to go with all the tanking a dorf usually is class'd into compared to faggy elf retards.

I miss shields being an actual thing. Now it's just a Fucking ac bonus.
In ADnD you also could use your shield properly.

>mfw my dorf fighter cleric tanks an entire mob because tower shield cancelling 3 successful attacks per round.

The closest I've seen to actual tanking in an mmo is in Neverwinter. Where the fighter gets to use a shield to cancel dmg entirely.
Shame the game is so fucking shit.

You can just pick a simple build and stick to it, and starting to learn how to build better characters from then on. If you stick to single class, there's not much that can go wrong.

You can also play a module that's restricted to a single class, you will have much less flexibility, but less chances of messing up too.

Sometimes you can never know what the game wants anyway. Sometimes stuff happens such as, Weapon Master is a great class that focus on criticals, but most enemies in HotU are crit-immune for no reason.Or you specialize yourself in a weapon, but there is no weapon of that type for the endgame.

I like romances. They can be good for character development, and it's one more option for things to do in the game, which is nice. What bothers me, though, is how they tend to just sort of awkwardly end at a certain point, but the game continues on, and all your interactions with them after that are the standard neutral interactions that you'd still have even if you weren't in a romance. There should be more stuff like the flirt mods add, where you and the NPC actually interact as if you're in an ongoing relationship.

On the other hand, I do think "just friends" should definitely be an option. You shouldn't have to choose between going full-on romantic or being a dick to someone. I want to be able to be nice and care about the NPC without necessarily wanting to sleep with them.

cleric spells are not restricted by anything but your actual wisdom so you don't have to worry about learning via scrolls. Just pick what is appropriate for the fights ahead.

as far as mage spells, several spells that lower spell defenses, like breach are highly recommended, followed by aoe spells and ocassionally keep a spell that kills summons.

magic missle never gets old, as chromatic orb, both are viable even at the end of the game.

Another way was taking a high level thief, shapechange into an adamantine golem or something and then backstabbing.
>>
>>336411871
it gets very tedious because of all the easy encounters you have to plow through. either you go through all the hassle of getting your protag to do a backstab, or you just have him do nothing, which feels bad as well
>>
>>336412125
I always keep a potion of invisibility handy during every encounter. It's a nice escape card in case of random tpk. Lets me get out of there and get my party revived without game over. Although thats really just for a no load save run.
>>
>>336412313
I use potions of invis to backstab more than once per fight.
>>
>>336412234
That's a lot of cheesing. But you can see 200-300 damage hits normally when using a pure class assassin with a good weapon, without too much buffing.
>>
>>336412241
What do you do against a bunch of enemies though? Just go for the high profile target and let the party handle the rest? It seems like enough tough enemies can ruin that build.
>>
>>336412443
Oh well this was never about cheesing. It was about abusing the system to see just how high of a damage backstab you could get.
None of it was actually feasible during the game.
>>
>>336412415
I never thought of that. Makes shadowdancer even more useless.
>>
>>336412313
>Although thats really just for a no load save run.
I should do something like that once.
Honestly I quicksave before every fight and load if anyone dies, unless it's a hard fight like dragon where you can be expected to burn that rod of resurrection.
It makes the game boring at times, since there is never any danger.
>>
>>336412234
>sarevok dualled into thief

it'd be nice if there was dialogue for when you try to dual him into a weak slippery coward class, he'd probably be mad as fuck

>>336412463
I guess don't have the backstab be the opening of the engagement, have your fighters already be engaged
>>
>>336412539
Well shadowdancer was a beamdog class. So it was already worthless.
>>
>>336412463
You can backstab multiple times per fight with invis potion, or using that ring of invis that gives you 3 uses per day for free.
It's basically BG2 Hide in Plain Sight.
>>
>>336412548
It gets intense sometimes. Party member deaths are a hassle, sometimes being more convenient to pick up some other randy. You put your mc first though, running and leaving your friends for death if necessary.

No revivals is pretty fun too.
>>
>>336412609
Huh, they actually put that into BG? I thought they only added shaman.
>>
>>336412670
Not to mention, as a mage/thief multi or dual class you can abuse invis spells to backstab indefinitely.
Its the sole reason why Imoen has such a shit strength score.
>>
>>336412752
Shadowdancer was added with EE. Shaman was added with SoD.
>>
>>336409492
Exactly. Fighter cleric or fighter thief dorf has best fucking tanking without being broken, retardedly op.
>>
>>336412609
It seems half decent, but it loses all value since your backstabs don't do shit. Even if you kensai for the max damage(which only requires one level realistically). In the end invisibility potions which aren't even too rare or expensive can do its job better.
>>
>>336412757
You can't take assassin as your dual class though, while it is still good, you won't reach your full backstab damage.
>>
>>336412858
>fighter thief
>tanking

wait what
>>
>>336412970
x5 backstab damage is still enough to one shot most squishy targets though.
Personally I think assassin is dogshit. Because single class thieves are dogshit.
>>
>>336413084
They seem pretty shit, but they have their appeal.

why do you think so many people love yoshimo?
>>
is enhanced edition any good, I heard it was shitty and fucked the music up beyond repair
>>
>>336413207
I don't know about the music, but people say it's buggy, I have had no problem with it though. You can ignore the new party members anyway
>>
>>336413169
They love Yoshimo cause his traps are awesome. Not because he's good at anything besides that.
>>
>>336413324
Other thieves can use traps too. Plus other abilities.
>>
>>336413207
I don't know about the music, but it's an ok substitute for modded up easytutu. not as good, but less hassle. obviously don't pay for it. the multiplayer works decently also
>>
>>336413169
Because Yoshimo is willing and can dance on the head of a pin as well.
>>
>>336413207
It is shitty. It fixes things that didn't need fixing and adds nothing besides some mediocre new content and easy widescreen support.

Just get BG2 complete, and get the widescreen patch.
>>
>>336413382
Yoshimo is bounty hunter.
Bounty Hunter traps actually break the game.
Normal thief traps are good but not overly good.
>>
>>336413454
He is also good for breaking my hear

>>336410349
You don't rest every 2 seconds you fucking sperg. You stack memorisations of mage armour. Hold person chromatic sphere horror etc. And use one per fight. Mage armour plus shield plus ac6 bracers plus 18/19 DEX gives you something like ac -5 for hours. Mage armour is 1hr/lvl duration. Shield 1 turn/lvl.
Chromatic orb paralyses target for 15+ rounds or some shit eventually. Hold person and horror are aoe enemy only effecy. And SHOULD ignore spell protections because they're not targeted at the buffed person. They need freedumb of movement and protection from /resist fear to avoid being wombocombo'd.

tl;dr : fighter mage is awesome and you're a shitter if you are too retarded to play most op class combo
>>
>>336413495
I'm not saying thief is best class, but they also are hardly the worst. They have more versatile kits then other classes.
>>
>>336413618
more like you're a shitter if you don't just go berserker lazymodo

also soloing is for faggots whose definition of fun is incorrect
>>
>>336413618
You're right it's Edwin
>>
>>336413675
Yeah they do but single class thieves are worthless.
That's why, despite Hexxat having crazy stats and crazy abilities, she sucks.
>>
>>336413740
I solo'd just for the hell of it once, it was meh It's not as hard as they say it is, but it isn't completely boring.
>>
>>336413787
I just wish I could mage/assassin I might just have to clench my teeth and go mage/thief.
>>
>>336413935
You can just set the kit with the save game editor.
I know it works for dual, not sure about multi.
>>
>>336410732
Actually, fucktarded basement dwelling neckbeard, if you knew anything about fighting or had any training you'd know height advantage isn't necessarily an actual advantage in a real fight.

If you are taller and/or bigger than your opponent you have reach adv. Only.

You also get bigger blindspots and higher Centre of gravity.

Whereas if you are shorter the reverse is true.
Your Centre of balance is lower and your blind spots are smaller.

You have less reach.
>>
>>336410732
Also forgot to say; a shorter person can get inside a taller opponents reach easily, and fight at their optimum whilst the taller person is handicapped.
>>
>>336414025
The problem is I can't just go assassin/mage because I will miss out on the max modifier.

I might try an editor, I only ever play humans anyway.

>>
>>336414205
You don't need the max modifier, everything that would be worth backstabing at x7 is immune
>>
>>336350020

why is it only D&D retards who think like this? you usually don't see people saying "Yeah I made an Mage character in Morrowind and dumped all my points into Strength and Spears, it's just so much better for ~immersion~ that way :^)"

Yes the superior mobility and dexterity of the 4 foot tall man will surely lead him to victory.
>>
>>336413013
There are two ways to tank dmg. Either you tank it by simply ignoring it or tank by avoiding it.

A fighter cleric in magic plate w magic shield can be outright immune to pretty much anything. So they'll stand there getting hit and nothing will happen. A fighter thief can have such stupidly good saves and dex based avoidance that they just never get hit.

And for both styles...

High con gives them a great layer of soak ANYWAY for the few hits that DO get through.
>>
>>336414483
Because unlike Morrowind players, some people here actually have real roleplay experience, and playing a mary sue gets boring after a while. Every character should have a fault or two.

thankfully I spent my youth playing good games (ie, not D&D) so I know there are ten million more interesting character concepts than "is a Fighter, but incompetent" or "is a Wizard, but incompetent"
>>
>>336415235
This. Your stats aren't what make you interesting.
>>
>>336414770
You are just wrong about this. Fighter/Cleric will be able to equip better armor without losing his class related abilities. Dex bonus is moot since a F/C and F/T can have the same Dex and thus same bonus. F/C will not only dodge better but he has access to spells that offer further bonuses/mitigation.

F/T is for abusing the backstab modifier with good str/thac0 modifiers and not being completely useless after his initial burst.
>>
>>336415056
You don't have to be bad at your job.
A mage with maxed 18 intellect and low physical stats have to rely on his magical defenses to survive, and thus has a vulnerability.
A mage with 18 intellect, 18 dexterity and 18 constitution can have similar armor class buffed as a fighter with mediocre dex, and can even soak some damage.

Go be dumb elsewhere. The stupid is far too strong with you.

I said Real fights. Not entertainment modo constrained tournement faggotry.

And height =/= weight you fucking retard. Boxing has weight divisions due to muscle mass you idiot.

The 300 lb heavyweight boxer has far more muscle than the 125lb flyweight/featherweight.

Both can be 6'2".

Way to 'counter' my argument by saying something completely unrelated to it!
>>
>>336415692
So what's a real fight for you if not organized martial arts? A street brawl with half-drunk people?

It's not like people fight with their fists in any real battle ever since weapons were invented, so I can't think of anything else.
>>
>>336415692
>le real fight meme
Ok so if I was in a real fight why are we not using weapons? My knife is clearly superior to your low center of gravity fists.

Then again why even bring a knife to a gun fight to begin with if we are just escalating the situation to fit our argument?
>>
>>336415879
Not him but I'll point out organized martial arts are anything but a real fight.
There's too many restriction in what your allowed to do to be considered "real".
>>
>>336415879
Gee it's nice that you live in magic happy land in the WHEEEE! FUN! dimension that the only 'real fight' you can think of is drunken idiots going at it.
>>
>>336415974
There are free style tournaments where you can punch, kick, grapple and so on. The skill level of professional fighters should be high enough that such pros and cons as that pathetic manlet is trying to argue with should be a major factor.
Yet they are all dominated by tall people.
>>
>>336415452
you don't even have to be incompetent, I'm just saying there are better ways of differentiating two characters than "My mage has a high Int and a high Con, HIS mage has a high Int and mediocre Con. what unique and interesting character concepts we have!" D&D players have always (as far as I can tell from skimming threads in /tg/ about stats) considered your stat line to be the single most important thing in determining roleplaying, which is depressing as hell
>>
>>336416132
>There are free style tournaments

And yet even those tournaments have restrictions on what you can do to your opponent.

It is called reality. You may or may not be familiar with it.

You can be minding your own business and some methhead will suddenly chimp out. Or a cunt will decide to lose it and beat the missus/the kids and someone has to step in.

Not everyone lives in a pussified retardotron place where 'spectator' effect is tolerated and accepted instead of met with derision and outrage.
>>
>>336416364
Yeah and real fights that randomly break out are nontechnical messes that favor size and brawn. Whats your point?
>>
>>336416494
>some methhead will suddenly chimp out
>cunt will decide to lose it and beat the missus/the kids
That's literally a street brawl. Methheads aren't so different from drunken people either.

And then what. So you're going to stop some random cunt beating up her kids, and you will have an advantage over a tall person doing the same because of your amazing center of gravity?
>>
>>336416520
Except a trained and disciplined practitioner can intervene in a situation and by the nature of their training will not be nontechnical derpery you profess all fights to be
>>
>>336416896
I fucking knew it.
You're a manlet with fantasies of finally getting a girl by saving her from a guy beating her on the streets with your display of superior martial arts against the much taller than you opponent.
>>
>>336416896
lol
>>
>>336416769
Now you are being deliberately obtruse. The point being that IRL life is not an AI scripted event you idiot. And bad stuff can happen to anyone anytime. A trained fighter will exploit their natural advantages because otherwise they're NOT trained and are not fighters.
>>
Just beat BG1 and feel like playing another class for BG2. Am I missing out by not importing my character?

Also, are there any essential mods for BG2? I'm playing EE because I prefer the interface.
