What are the chances that it will be a good 4X?
Looks like it'll be ok
None, because it's not a 4X.
None, because while it starts kinda 4x, it evolves into a grand stat.
Aka /gsg/ calls it heresy, and because it's Paradox it will need two expansions before it runs properly.
>>336348145
pretty good considering paradox track record.
>>336348925
>4X
>grand strategy
what the difference?
>>336348145
None, because it's a grand strategy.
>>336349017
Please leave forever.
Even fucking Reddit know the difference
>>336349024
But it is also 4X
>>336349135
no
What about "4X Grand Strategy" then if you are bothered by terminology that much?Stellaris still better than new MoO anyway
>>336349257
New MoO is okay.
At least the catchicks looked ok
>>336349367
>New MoO is okay.
>>336349416
It works, which is a lot more than can be said for most of the genre.
There's a fuck load of terrabad ones out there
>dead genre
>large, succesful corporation tries to revitalize it
>autists moan and bitch that it's not exactly the same as outdated, ancient games
For fuck's sake.
In other news, I'm kinda enjoying Polaris Sector, but it's typically retarded in the 4X sense that there's no middle ground between peaceful co-existence and all-out genocidal warfare.
>>336349470
Being better than the worst doesn't make it playable in my eyes. It's still an abominable game that taints the MoO name.
Some people says it's a 4X, others says it's not, so what does it lack from being a 4X?
>>336348145
Stellaris, curiously, looks like a prettier, 3D version of Distant Worlds
so... I don't really know what to say, but Distant Worlds really was in a niche wedged in between 4X and grand strategy so I was eminently surprised Stellaris was also squeezing into
It will probably do just fine in sales
>>336348145
>4k
>>336348145
>Paradox
>200 worth of DLCs
>>336350731
I just want a game where first contact and differant languages aren't easily dealt with by researching one early tech and never thinking about it again.
I can't wait to make my highly religious, warmongering race.
>>336351064
The game is set in the future when man can travel faster than light so I don't think there will be any religion in this game.
I'm hopeful. I finally broke down and bought it. Hopefully cdkeys has their shit together and deliver it on time and at least include the pre-order DLC.
The multiplayer stream is pretty fun to watch. Radroaches living in the ruins of Earth.
>>336351204
There will be. Just because technology makes massive leaps it does not make religion disappear
>>336352374
>taking the bait
Come on man.
>>336351204
Actually, there is.
In fact, on of the ethoses you can choose at the start of the game is Spiritualist, which gives happiness bonuses and unlocks Psi technologies, as well as theocratic government types.
>>336352674
>religion unlocks Psi technologies,
Why? What a fucking lazy trope. I thought this was meant to be a grand strategy, not a rock paper scissors 4x.
>>336352906
Each Ethos unlocks government types, events, policies, and technologies.
