They will never be in the vanilla game ever because that would mean having two Imperial factions, as Marines will 110% be in. The 'Holy Quadrilogy' of Marines, Eldar, Chaos and Orks is there for a reason - those four play off of each other the best out of all the factions in the game. It works so well that the original Dawn of War's campaign is still one of the best introductions to the 40k setting out there, and that's not just including video games.

They need to use CoH2's commander system I think. DoW2's system was obviously just another version of the CoH doctrine system that CoH2 improved upon with a greater variety, I was platinum mad when I saw that chaos got added and the three commanders were so obviously based around khorne tzeentch and nurgle, it should've been undivided as it made half of the units feel out of place "immersion" wise.

The Ultramarines books are a reasonable shout, but they're not incredible - trouble is Space Marines make poor characters since they don't have personalities. The best 40k books are Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies and the Gaunts Ghosts novels

There have been signs for ages that dow3 is being worked on, and relic have clearly been working on something, there has been no substantial dow2 content for AGES.
sega re-released dow1 on steam and even brought the online back from the dead after gamespy died.
Relic salvaged the 40k license when THQ sank (why else would they if they weren't working on a 40k game?)

They don't. There isn't really any way of stopping the tyranids. Imperial worlds barely manage to hold out assuming they do, and the bigger hive fleets are just the beginning of something far bigger. Short of some deus ex machina, there is literally no way the tyranids won't devour the entire galaxy and move onto the next.
In the lore, it's specualted that they may have consumed millions of galaxies and have been doing their thing for billion and billions of years.

they got their own Codex and a bunch of models fleshing them out as an army and introducing their rulers, the C'tan (who were subsequently shoehorned into every major event in the 40k universe). Games Workshop then promptly forgot they existed and did not update them again until the closing days of fifth edition. It was fine imo, but DoW II would have been far better if the pre-mission unit selection offered far more. It bugged me as well that you couldn't kit out your mooks, only the commanders got any weapons and armour (apart from terminator armour) benefits. IRC, devastator squads in the tabletop used to have a different heavy weapon each. It's all heavy bolters in DoW II no matter what you do, and if you give them terminator armour, all get storm bolters or hammers.

I actually enjoy playing against comps more then human players. Me and a friend vs 3+ max difficulty AI. They just throw never ending waves of soldiers at you and your soldiers have to fight tooth and nail for every inch (works best with swarm armies like Tyranids)
By the end the battlefield is littered with the corpses of the enemies. Its not hard or tactically rewarding as fighting a human but its a different fun that a human simply cant replicate.

My point is that 40k is an interesting setting because a bunch of factions are basically unstoppable forces with glaring flaws (more often than not the simple fact that the story doesn't move forward and so they're stuck right before their final assault and effectively taking over the galaxy). The Imperium by itself is interesting because it represents a corrupted and heroic version of mankind, a fusion of the best and worst parts of humanity. Chaos is interesting because despite their ultra-violent imagery, they might actually be right and raise some good points over the forced ignorance of the imperium. The Eldars are interesting as a super advanced yet doomed race. Necrons and Nids are interesting because they're going to win no matter what but we're just not here yet.
But the Taus? A lot of tau players consider them "nice guys with technology". What's the fucking point? It's incredibly boring and uninteresting. Of course they're the whole messed up "greater good" lie, the evil leaders etc, but taufags don't care about that. They like the weeb aesthetics and a nice people of reasonable members willing to negotiate and cooperate. It's just incredibly boring and uninteresting. Armor is still shit, don't know what you're on about. No reason to pick it when wolverines and sherman 105's are basically combined into a Pershing or Easy 8 from Rifle or Heavy Armor company.
There's even less reason to go armor company now that scotts just got buffed, Major got a huge artillery buff that basically gives him the I&R Pathfinder/Mechanized Company artillery strike for a measly 60 munitions(That grows stronger with veterancy) and .50 cals now counter light armor and emplacements.

It's very simple: once, long ago, the Chaos Gods were fairly complex and, dare I say it, believable. Khorne was all about killing and blood and stuff, but had no problems with ranged weapons and preferred honorable combat to mindless slaughter. Slaanesh was the god of excess. Tzeentch sponsored politicians, schemers, and yes, wizards.
Then, GW decided to flanderize their own creation for whatever reason. Khorne started to disdain ranged weaponry as cowardly, then became a barbaric killer, "caring not from where the blood flows." Eventually, he became little more than a rabid beast and his followers, well, followed.As for some examples of Khorne not being a savage killer, go look waaay back in the Slaves of Darkness and Lost and the Damned books. Also, in the 2nd Edition Space Wolves book, the special character Wolf Priest killed a number of World Eaters in close combat and was saluted by their leader for his courage and skill. The World Eaters then withdrew--not something the current Berserkers would do. Yeah, it's 40k, but still.

I just bought my first Warhammer set to paint. I got some wolves. Really can't decide what I want to venture into, but I like more organic than metallic, and the wolves required paints which are all going to go to good use elsewhere. They obviously wont seem out of place in either 40k or original.

The Tau commmonly use mechs, and people feel they have anime aesthetics (I don´t know why myself, the visuals always remided me more of the Trade federation from the Phantom menace. The rounded layout of pic related gives me a bit of Hammerhead vibes, for example. The beige clor scheme is quite similar to Tau too. The Japanese sounding voices probably helped as wll, and the word Gue´la is based on a slur 19th cent. Chinese used for whites, gweilo. So there.
