It's Tuesday, so today we can expect an update. New escalation, possibly new featured contracts, maybe we finally get the first fabled elusive target? Will they even be able to deliver Marrakesh this month? I hope so.
>>
Was that confirmed? I can't play tonight, but it would be cool to play tomorrow. As long as it isn't a huge update and my shitty connection takes too long for anything.
>>
The first Elusive Contract is coming out one week from now, not today, I believe.
Marrakesh is suppose to come out this month, but there's no way IO will make this entire season without at least one delay.
>>
things they need to fix:
>sound mine placement detection
>ambient audio fucking up and cutting out at times
>the blood is awful, pools expand even after if you move the body, it's black, there are no trails, and nobody notices or cares about seeing blood

I wish it was possible to hide outfits you're not using, pick up any cartridges from rounds you've fired, disassemble and destroy guns, clean up blood with a mop etc
Leaving anything out of place hurts my autism.
>>
>>336331897
Suit Only, take all the guns with you, fiber-wire. Don't knock or kill anyone else out, either, they'll give too much information about the murders

Any excuse to get me to play more Hitman is good, 2bh.
I've been hyped up for Elusive Targets for almost two months now.
>>
Great game but the most baffling thing about it is how they somehow fucked up the Contracts by not having the same search, sort and favorite system Absolution had. It's the one thing that really makes this game feel like Early Access instead of just early episodic. Hope they eventually patch that shit in.

>MFW I first played Sapienza

The mark of a great Hitman level
The dialogue adds so much to it, too, I didn't realize how much I wished Blood Money and Contracts had way more dialogue

Me too. He just kind of falls over, like a fell tree
>>
>>336334182
Yeah, I wish he had been realistically thrown over the car, but it was still pretty funny.
Now I have to make sure I don't trigger the conversation at the left so that I can safely escape in the car without issue. Or I just escape anywhere else since the other exits are usually closer anyways
>>

>>

>>
>>336336853

>>
>>336336726
I hope we get two escalations, one for Paris and one for Sapienza.

But yeah, Paris has gotten a lot of love already, there's like 11 escalations for it.

Hope they also upgrade the featured contracts with some from Sapienza.
>>
>>336337221
Neither of the targets can get killed with the bell. Neither of the targets can't get killed in the well, for that matter.

"Feat" challenges can be done in any mission that takes place in Sapienza, which basically means you want to be on the lookout for contracts with people close to the church (a church staff or the private investigator) to pull those challenges off.

Yeah. He didn't react well to getting a kiss from the Asian hooker. If nothing else this points to him not caring at all about sex.
>>
>>336337337
That's misleading as fuck.
They really missed out by not having Silvio go to church.
They could have done this: after you spook him into fainting, eventually a guard comes in. If wakes him up Silvio is filled with guilt, thus he goes to church confession. While he is confessing you can go in as a priest, have some convo, and shoot him through the box.
>>
>>336338720
But if a guard wakes him up after he faints, he runs the fuck away to the plane, which is pretty great.

So, what's the official body count for Sapienza?
Just got 294, but I am not sure whether I got everyone. At least I didn't get any "Searching" status.
Also, the 294 body count is suspiciously close to the 297 I got in Paris. Could it be that the map doesn't support more than 300?
>>
>>336338764
it is, maybe it would make more sense after the psychologist route. In any case I think it's a missed opportunity. If they wanted to make it even more worth it, it would be pretty interesting if you could convince him to off himself or do something that results in his death. After all he is mentally unstable.
>>
Is there any point to the hair sample?
I keep thinking there is some use involving the interactive mechanical arm in the virus room, but can't figure it out.
>>
>>336339052
Yeah, that was my thought too. Someone like that just SCREAMS for suicide.
On the other hand, if you listen to all his monologues, I think he is too keen on his revenge to just off himself BEFORE taking it out. In the observatory, when he writes his farewell note, he's talking about something like that.
Would be cool nonetheless, letting himself hurl off the cliff or something.
>>
>>336338972
More likely the devs have performance guidelines for a number of different objects per map including NPC actors in order to stay within the declared system requirements. Since AI should be processed independently from NPC visibility onscreen it makes sense to have similar number of them regardless of map differences
>>
>>336339262
Heh, I thought that too, a lot of people thought so as well. But the virus is still being developed and they're still trying to find the strain.

You can show the DNA sample to Francesca.
>>
>>336339451
Also worth noting that Paris had an huge independent crowd of people to make the level seem more crowded, while in this one there's not a single crowd-NPC.
>>
>>336339270
Maybe even better, staged suicide. Have him go to confession, after you or the padre speak to him he goes up to the top of the church tower. This could give an opportunity to get him with the bell when passing by. Then when he gets to the top, he stands near the edge before eventually losing his nerve and going back to the mansion. If you push him, it counts as suicide.
I can't imagine they didn't think of something like this, probably just ran out of time

Why are Hitman shilling threads so obvious.
>>
>>336339457
But showing it to her is basically pointless, she does nothing but phone someone. I would have thought they would she would have killed him for me.
This and the issue of the church being underused as well as the law office make me think this level was not finished on release. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing level, but I feel they must have thought of somethings and never been able to finish them. I doubt they ever will
>>
>>336339759
nobody is shilling this game, they have had one of the most pathetic and underfunded marketing campaigns ever. People are just happy it's an actual Hitman game unlike Abomination.

why do you care? There's a lot to talk about and speculate in these games. There's like 5 Dark Souls threads every given moment, one Hitman thread is not a big deal

to add something meaningful to this reply, the USA level will be in Hollywood I'm 99% sure. There is a world building convo between the report and camera man in Paris that mentions a film star named Eno something, that's got to be the target.

They have made mentions to Thomas Cross multiple times just in these two levels.
With that said, the American level is most likely this one that was shown in the trailer (although concepts can change, the laboratory and Silvio were very different in the trailer from the actual game)

>>336338972

It's part of the German dream.
It ended fast because they were too gentle though.
>>
>>336340507
Well the cameraman mentioned someone who sounds like a film star called Eno B something. I would also guess the targets are a director and an actor, one of them enjoys killing women for fun, I would guess the director. I think you are right about Cross, but I recall the name Jordan Cross actually, maybe there are two brothers like the Cohens lol. Would make sense to have more than two targets that late in the game after all.
All speculation, but I think it's a safe bet to say it's in Hollywood.

To expand on this, I just remembered the name Jordon Cross was mentioned by the photographer with Helmut, who said "pose like you were in the black and white Jordon Cross video". My guess is the targets are a movie star and two director brothers, one who does experimental cinema and is an insane sociopath and the other who is more mainstream, is the money man, and is a calculated psychopath.

That looks like some kind of hotel resort to me. Maybe they're on an hotel next to a place where they're shooting? I don't think it's Hollywood, anyways.
>>
>>336342107
I think it's going to be in Hollywood, they haven't done that before and it looks like sunny California to me. Might be a good contrast as I imagine Thailand and Japan being rainy and/or at night
>>
>>336342289
Shit man, we should get at least one level at night. They've shown footage for Paris at night and I believe Sapienza was planned to happen at night at one point too.
>>
>>336341736
I just was in the IAGO auction where this woman is talking about Thomas Cross suddenly donating money to something, although he is republican as hell and EBULLL.
>>
>>336342475
The person photographing Helmut talks about how he should pose like the one time he posed for the music video of some director that was also called Cross.

I guess maybe there really are two Crosses.

Wait, isn't one of the Cross dudes part of "The Ascendancy" or whatever it was?
>>
>>336342403
I bet that's why the changed it, to even it out so less than half the levels are at night. Although who knows, Japan could be snowy and Thailand would look great in the day, especially the coastal regions. I'd bet Japan will be the night level though, neon signs and all that.

It's something I would usually warn against, but in this case it kind of forces you to appreciate the levels more. I'm over 80 hours in atm.
But I will say it is basically early access, there are a lot of features which need to be polished badly, such as blood. And certain things that do not work, like the sound mine.
>>
>>336345585
It's some Finnish autist who speedruns Hitman games by literally breaking the AI and spamming coins.
>>

I'm honestly enjoying the episodic release and the anticipation and reveals every month.

>>
>>336345542
Does this mean that the update is coming soon? Like by the start of the end of their twitch stream?
I don't want to see the escalation being played, I want to play it myself.
>>
>>336345570
>because of the shitty melee bug that kills people you choke.

This bug is supposed to get fixed today. Unless IO is too busy wasting the budget on coke, prostitutes and flying in e-celebs to their studio to play with them.
>>
>>336345570
are you sure that's a bug? I've never had this except for when I've taken too long to choke them out. I assumed that was a "feature".
>>
>>336345832
It's only happens when you're choking someone near a wall and the wall happens to be on 47's right side.

What happened back when the game released and in the beta is that when you choked an NPC near a wall, 47 would literally teleport to the next room, because he drops the body to the right side and the animation doesn't work in enclosed spaces. So they they tried to fix it by making a new animation, now 47 doesn't teleport anymore, but the NPC dies.
>>
>>336346039
My fix for it was to start hitting motherfuckers with a wrench.
>>
>>336346039
Oh you're right, it only occurs for me when I've choked that auction staff guy at the room next to the entry stairs in the auction. Which is always next to a right wall when I do it.
>>
>>336345654
Good point. I probably would get tired of all the escalation contracts if I played the game only in its finished state.

Fuck it, if you're a shill, you've done your job.
>>
>>336346101
Spaghetti sauce > bricks > hammers > statue heads > wrenchs/crowbars
>>
>>336346305
I actually did use the can of expires spaguetti sauce the most, now that I think about it.
I love how Silvio thinks the cooking is great if you poison him with that. Poor Chef. Didn't know his master wanted canned food
>>
>>336346039
Can confirm that is also works NOT near walls and NOT on the right side.
Had the CICADA guard in the cave, the one on the upper level, choked out to the right side of the crate, when he is facing away from that upper entrance. Choked him, died, reloaded, choked him, died.
>>
>>336346302
Honestly m8, the big reason why early access is the devil is that small studios get enough cash that they don't need to continue and are unimportant enough they can just up and trash their reputation. Considering how little they've made thus far and sunk costs, I can't imagine them not finishing this properly.
The worst practice here they are doing though is the always online DRM. You can play offline, but can't use your unlocks. It's awful because even if you never see the server crash, everytime you access the planning there is a loading time where it checks to see if you've unlocked the items. There is no reason this can't be done through save data.
>>
>>336346635
The reason is to avoid pirating despite the fact they already have DENUVO. It's insane and probably Square Enix's doing.

I also worry that this episodic format might actually end up meaning less sales for Hitman compared to Absolution, for example.
>>
>>336346790
How hyped was Absolution anyways? I don't watch tv and don't care about advertisement, I solely got it because it was a new Hitman game and looked really cool from what was shown beforehand, but did it have a PR budget? How was it advertised to the masses?
>>
>>336347053
It was probably advertised about the same as this game was, but the fact it was just a normal 60 dollar game and this has a bunch of confusing to the masses terms with it like episodic could spell this game's doom.
Although now that I think about it, Absolution had TV Spots and this doesn't. Maybe they're spending less money.
>>
>>336346790
>>336347053
>>336347270
Well, Absolution sold 3 million on Steam alone. That's a pretty big number, it sold more than Dark Souls for example.

Finally got all the challenges for Sapienza. Fucking Memento... Tried it several times as mansion guard, but apparently you need to be disguised as one of those two in the attic. The best about this is that those disguises are treated by the game as the very same, so I had to change disguise from mansion guard to cleaner BACK to the other mansion guard.
On a side note, I rate the attic climb hole 9/10, haven't discovered it until after 20 hours in Sapienza.
>>
>>336349365

>>336349458

We saw some elusive targets for Paris level before the game came out. They were featured in preview build and some retarded french guy has posted a vid.
>>
>>336345570
That's probably the reason why I started wrenches, hammers, crowbars, etc.; I'm afraid that I'll end up killing the NPC.

That and it just takes too long sometimes, as opposed to one hit on the head.
>>
Okay, can someone PLEASE tell me where the fucking cameras around the plaza are?
I just did a contract with killing the hippie and somehow I ALWAYS get filmed.
My first route was starting at plaza, entering lawyer's office, climbing out of the window right to the hippie's bathroom window and pulling him out, then leaving the same way and with the beetle.
Second approach was starting in tower, running down, shooting him in the back of the head, running down the tower and out of its front door and away with the beetle.
I definitely got NOT spotted by a person, but I just don't know where that fucking camera could be. I only know of the one guarding the emergency exit.

>>336353529
That's not the point. Besides, I just did that to figure out whether the camera allegedly watching me belongs to the plaza circuit. Turns out it does.
Now I have a highscore and don't know what to feel because I could have been even faster knowing how to dodge that thing.

The only camera I remember outside other than the ones in the Church is that camera on one of the front doors of the building next to the tower. It's a devious camera that is straight up next to the door pointing diagonally down so that you can't pass by it. Have you seen that one? It should be on the way to the Hippie.

Well people have tattoos.

No one sees him killing the target. So there is no way to connect the dots that the bald dude with a bar code on the back of his head is the one that killed someone that day.
>>
>>336357423
less about "that guy with a barcode tattoo is killing people" and more about "I may not know everybody who works for so and so but I'm fairly certain I have never seen a 6'6" bald blue eyed man with a barcode on the back of his skull before"
>>
So im wondering about this game. Is it so far two levels with two set targets, is it two level TYPES with several targets, or what? Whats the deal so far
>>
>>336357889
That what the supervisor system is there for. Some people who work the job can immediately see through the disguise and tattoo, some people don't.

In your defense, no tall bald man with a intimidating face and a tattoo on his head would successfully pass off as a hairstylist or a priest.
>>
Patch is out. 126mb only.
>>
>>336357889
>6'6"
Aside from your exaggerated autism, don't forget people simply don't notice these things. You probably can't even remember the eye color of your parents.
>>
>>336357889
47 is medium height. There are some taller NPC's in Paris.
>>
>>336357889
>6'6" bald blue eyed man

This alone would be a dead giveaway.

The stage crew probably wouldn't recognize each other. I've worked in this area and 90% of people didn't know each other, despite working the same area. But a tight knit kitchen staff for example would obviously notice.

But in Sapienza for example, the Chef was waiting for Rocco to show up for his first day of work. Silvio had never met the Psychiatrist before and things like that. So they're trying to add some layer of realism, even if it's not completely realistic.
>>
>>336358279
It's four levels at this point, 15 dollars gets you the first three. Six targets total, One for each small mission and two for each big ass mission.
There's also Escalations and Contracts where different NPC's are the targets so it's kind of a pseudo-build-your-own-Hitman-level

And we'll get Elusive Contracts... Eventually.

if it was the day my parents both died suspiciously by hitting an exploding golf ball and getting crushed by a chandelier I would probably suddenly remember the looming bald spectre of death with a barcode tattoo pretty well. That's kind of how prejudice works: looking unusual gets you noticed even if you don't warrant it.

After about 3 murders where a bunch of interrogated employees say "you know, there was some tall blue-eyed completely bald man with a barcode tattoo shining a table for an awful long time before shit went down on the most dramatic day of my life"

I mean I have no issue suspending my disbelief, and I think the tongue-in-cheek kind of angle they consciously take with the whole game, tonally, really helps that a lot because if it was trying to take itself completely seriously I think it would fall apart pretty quick. I just think the whole thing's pretty funny.
>>
>>336359907
>I just think the whole thing's pretty funny.
If you don't laugh regularly when playing Hitman, you have something wrong in your head.
And while my favourite way of execution is ARTY, I also love how Silvio likes his mother's canned sauce and the exploding golfball is so silly it's awesome.
Especially with all those props around it, like some operative (or 47 himself) tinkered for days to make an exploding golfball, all while enjoying a great view and trying to tolerate the noise coming from that stoner guy the floor above.

I only recently got this game so can someone tell me what exactly the elusive target thing is?

I know its like a contract you only have 48 hours to do but are there any other requirements like in the escalations? Is it suit only? Most importantly are you able to retry it in those 48 hours if you fuck it up and are there saving involved?
>>
>>336359907
I don't see how that would make any sense at all, people are weird everywhere, you sure you go out?

>what happens if my connection fucks
At least you won't get thrown into the main menu immediately anymore, the game will just pause and give you the option of reconnecting on the spot, and if you reconnect successfully you'll resume gameplay normally.
>>
>>336360826
Ok but am I able to kill them anyway I like? Can I just find them, shoot them, hide somewhere, wait it out then run off? Theres no set requirement?

The game pauses and you can reconnect whenever you want. When you do, it resumes.

>or I get thrown out of the mission for some other bullshit reason?
You mean like a crash? Sounds like that would be the end of it for me.

It's why they've been delaying Elusive Targets. They want to try to avoid as much of those concerns as possible.
>>
>>336361224
There is actually one dialogue of CICADA guys talking about how that one guy lost his last two jobs because his clients died mysteriously and without him being able to do anything about it.
>>
>>336361218
I think that's what's planned, you can kill them however way you want, but if you fuck up you don't get a second chance and fail. For example one of them(first two were leaked) is where you have to kill a guy who also has a twin. If you kill the other twin you fail the contract. I like this idea. I only wish they also stripped you of wallhack and minimap and such.
>>
>>336361218
Depends, I'm sure some of the elusive targets will be like that
The two ones that were leaked had gimmicks to them. One of them had a twin and if you shot the twin that wasn't the target you lost. Another had an USB stick you had to take from him so you can't just shoot from afar and run away.
>>
>Really bad at the game
>Know that I'm going to cock up every single elusive target
>There's content locked behind killing them.

Kill me.
>>
>>336361487

Yeah I wouldnt be able to handle failing a single one of those.
>>
>>336360665
yeah I go out a lot actually
and I know that when something big happens in your life, you remember funny details

something big like, say, I don't know... two people dying within minutes of each other in the middle of a huge fashion show.

I really don't know how you can possibly feel so strongly that it would be impossible to remember a tall completely bald blue-eyed man with a tattoo on the back of his neck.

If back when you were in junior high, just running around with your bros during lunch break doing whatever, you genuinely don't think you would remember suddenly seeing a tall bald blue-eyed cafeteria worker with a barcode tattoo out of nowhere the very same day that former president Jimmy Carter was supposed to give a big talk to your whole school but was crushed by a falling sandbag as he walked out onto the stage, I really think the problem lies less with me going outside and more with you being completely oblivious to your surroundings.

You have autism if you believe this. If this is what it takes, then you would also think every fat person who walks by is an outlier. >>336363809
alright at this point I can see that the argument is being perpetuated by conflation of a bunch of things, so let's set this all straight

>47 is an unusual looking person
>he is taller than average
>he is balder than average
>his eyes are very light and very blue
>his voice is unusual
>he has a tattoo
>that tattoo is located on the back of his skull, which is an unusual place for a tattoo
>that tattoo is of a barcode

if there were a venn diagram of human characteristics, the intersection of the traits belonging to 47 would belong to a small group; very small in any given random sample of human beings.

if you dispute this, I don't know what to tell you. I don't know where you live, but I know you must come from a long line of completely hairless nordic chain-smoking bikers because that is the only way you could possibly find his appearance unremarkable.

and that's what's happening here. You are genuinely trying to argue (at length) that he just looks like the average joe, nothing special, definitely doesn't stand out.

Quick thought experiment: let's gather everybody you see in a given amount of time together. Let's gather them all into one place. Gee, I don't know, maybe like... a stadium, that's convenient. Here check it out! A random assortment of people! Now circle all the ones that look so much like 47 that it would clearly be absurd to think that he is in possession of any remarkable features whatsoever.
>>
>>336364059

Yeah, the change from Blood Money where getting caught carrying a weapon when getting screened at a security checkpoint going from getting it confiscated and stored to causing an alert is a bit annoying.

And there are a few challenges that specify killing a target with a (suppressed) pistol, luckily there are always 12 different ways around security checkpoints, and 8 of them let you get a pistol past them.

Too early to predict. If the six episodes keep this level of quality, it will manage to get on Blood Money's level.

It's only fair that they have the garrote be useful like that. It takes the space of 3 of your possible tools and you can kill people on melee without it.

I didn't risk it on the tunnel, especially because I've seen at least one NPC there before. He goes to piss if you wait a lot longer.

You can also throw him down the well, which is obviously useless if you want his disguise, but means that it was easy to find out a contract to get the well challenge
>>
Why are fire alarms so broken? I've pulled it in the kitchen so many times and every single time at least one of the cooks just stands around like an idiot instead of running out.

God damn it, this is just like that time that one developer had people finish the game via twitch chat bullshit before they got to play it, only now it's a game I actually give a shit about.

Speaking of alarms, I'm a little surprised they don't have a level-wide alarm. I like that the NPC's communicate to themselves and how the areas become increasingly more knowledgeable of you, but at a certain point, if I went on a rampage and let some dude escape, there shouldn't just be one guard coming for me and the entire town should be panicked.

What are elusive contracts? I've played a little Hitman in the past but not much. Sorry for being the newfag scum that's shitting up the established fanbase or how ever it works. I just wanted fun. Also I haven't played much but is there a security room where I can turn off cameras or get the tape if a camera spots me? Don't tell me where, I'm just curious if it exists.
>>
>>336372198
Elusive Targets are actually completely new to this Hitman game. They're basically the equivalent of dailies in roguelikes (only they're not daily)

You get one chance at a target, you only have 48 hours to kill him, he's a brand new NPC in a familiar map, they might have gimmicks like for example, one of them has an usb stick you have to take away from him, so you can't just shoot him from afar and escape, another has a twin and if you shoot the twin you lose.

As for security cameras, yes, you can destroy the surveillance system, which makes the cameras stop working. However, if you get spotted by a camera, you're spotted even if you go delete the data. So if you want that perfect rank you gotta not get spotted by them until you turn them off.

They are special, time limited, one chance only, contracts that award special things, like the suit from Blood Money complete with leather gloves.

They haven't released any yet.

Yes, there is a security station in levels with cameras that you can get to and destroy the evidence. It isn't required, but it will count against you score wise and is essential for some of the challenges and escalation missions.

Sapienza even has two sets of security stations with their own set of cameras.

Honestly, I think the soundtrack is pretty competent.

The main menu/briefing/victory music is cool and fits the James Bond vibe. The song that plays in that cinematic with 47 killing past targets is fucking great. So is the song for the first trailer.

It's no Silent Assassin or Contracts, and it doesn't have standouts like Apocalypse from Blood Money, but it's still bretty gud.

I do wish we'd have Kyd back, though.

It's what happens when there's 6 maps that are HUGE and crammed with so much... but it forces gamers to replay it over and over and over and over. They created this whole mastery level shit to make us keep coming back for more.

I went in hating it, came out loving it.

From a business standpoint, it might be a hard decision, I can't tell.

From a gameplay standpoint, as someone who enjoys Hitman, it's a lot of fun to get some good content to replay while waiting for the next piece. I mean, I'd rather get the whole game at once, but if this gets me to play Hitman sooner, then it really isn't all that bad after all.

Plus it gets the cool comfy Hitman threads going for each month.

There's going to be seven "episodes." Episode 1 was the tutorial and Paris, 2 was Sapienza, 3 is Morocco, 4 is Thailand, 5 is United States, 6 is Japan, and 7 is unknown (allegedly not a new location, but possibly a new map). There's talk of a "Season 2" after the disk version of the game is released, which would put it some time next year.

I miss the days of having to earn money which made it feel more professional. Now for some reason the ICA is making 47 do challenges just to get a few new guns which is stupid.

And now there's literally no point in turning off the settings. What for? Personal challenge? It just further delays the unlocks to get those weapons we all want. I want difficulty settings back god dammit.

Yes? That's why I turned mine off, anyways. Although I will most certainly turn them all on when it comes to Elusive Targets. That shit is one-shot only after all.

I don't know how you can possibly get in a situation where you need to grind challenges. I played the mission once and got seven different unlocks. They come before you have time to experiment with all of them

>>336385219
I also wanted an hideout. One of the things I think Silent Assassin did best was the layout. You had shooting range, a huge church to go around and fuck with.

Having a nice hub would be cool. Let you shoot up, maybe have some shooting practice challenges, let you sleep on a bed, find a bunch of suits you collected, let you fuck around with animals or some shit. Hell, just let you lay on the bed and browse your super secret ICA computer to go look at message boards or some shit.

You do have to admit, though, the main menu is pretty slick.
>>
Im kind of hoping after the base game is complete they open up to the idea of DLC levels.

Like I want to like it, but I just still have a bad feeling about it. Like that this is made by the same people who made the abomination that was the previous game.
>>
>>336385837
why would that cost a fortune?
Seems relatively easy in theory
>>
>>336385503
No, but they said they were planning to release the disk version around December this year or January next year (I can't remember which), so presumably some time before then. The original plan seemed to be one episode each month (that is, one April, one May, one June, not thirty days between each) and they haven't broken from that yet, so possibly September. But I'm not optimistic they'll keep the one-per-month deal.
>>

It is literally just a small hub. The "upgrades" could just be small trophies and shit that gather around the place (ie a wrecked recording camera for the interview hit, or the IAGO auction pass for that challenge).
The rest would just be interactive menus.

>Excessive story triggers you have to follow to do certain kills
I think the balance is good. Admittedly some things will only happen when you will them to happen (Certain characters will never go meet until you disguise as one of them and go do it yourself, for example, this is fairly frequent) but the patrols and NPC's do move about in their own way and the window that starts triggering them is usually pretty wide (aside from when they start talking). When I played the beta, it felt very weird how scripted it all was and how lifeless it felt. By comparison, I was more than fine with how it worked in the "full release"

>XP unlock system for what used to be basic weapons
It's completely fine and I see no issue with this.

>No real BM style customization
True

>No suit case sniper rifle
Hopefully this will change in a later unlock, same for dual silverballers

>Apparently kinda shoddy performance even on high tier systems
My system is ok and it runs pretty smoothly, but I have also heard stories about this, enough to believe them.

The one major flaw you forgot to mention is the Always Online DRM, which takes away stuff like sniper rifles and poisons and doesn't let you play any escalations. It's pretty shitty. It used to be even worse before a patch because if you lost your internet you were booted into the main menu and your progress on contracts or escalations or elusive targets was lost. At least now the game only pauses when the internet goes off, and you have the ability to reconnect at any time to resume.
>>
>>336385907
Story triggers could maybe be done a little better but the normal routines targets follow aren't that bad, since the levels are huge and going through multiple opportunities would take ages if you just wanted to do a specific one. I think maybe one thing they could do is better reactions when bodies are found, like calling the police to complicate and randomize the situation a bit.
The XP unlock system I feel is a bit of a stopgap before more weapons are added in. You can do challenges fairly quickly since you just have to do them once and reload to be able to do multiple ones per playthrough.

Hopefully, the last three points will be fixed as time goes on, but the core gameplay is good. It's nowhere near absolution in how it plays, I feel it's a lot more promising if levels continue to be good.
>>
>>336385907
>Excessive story triggers you have to follow to do certain kills
These are awful and I hate them, but they're not "story" triggers. They don't trigger story elements/cutscenes/whatever, they just move elements in the game to where they need to be. Still probably the worst part of the gameplay in my opinion. I have some gripes with the way it feels some of the kills/level elements are designed, but while this is bad, it's not bad enough to kill the game.
>XP unlock system for what used to be basic weapons
This is kinda crappy, but not game killing.
>No real BM style customization
Would be nice to have, but I don't think this is a direly important part of the game.
>No suit case sniper rifle
This wouldn't be particularly annoying, except THEY HAD IT IN THE ALPHA! Had it and removed it.
>Apparently kinda shoddy performance even on high tier systems
It's performed fine for me, so I can't really comment.

>Like that this is made by the same people who made the abomination that was the previous game.
It definitely was/does, but at the same time, it also feels like they legitimately want to correct their mistakes. Just that they don't exactly understand everything they should. But they're trying and they're making a pretty damn good effort.
>>
>>336385989
>>336386253
It just seems like making something like that would need to get worked on. No matter how easy it is in theory, it costs money.

That money pays for the people that would create that animated hideout, or hub, which could be funded to either more episodes or a second season, for which we might get. (Or at least in removing little bugs and releasing patches/updates)

I'm starting to get the feeling that IO took a chance on episodic release and cut corners wherever they could w/o sacrificing gameplay, and still be in the black financially.

That's just my opinion lads, take this shit with a grain of salt.

good point I remember in the PAX East interview they specifically said: the way they address everybody's playthrough being basically a completely different take on 47 (sometimes he's a completely bloodthirsty murderer, other times a a crazy gunman, etc) was by establishing that in-canon he is definitively the playthrough version where he is a complete fucking ghost. Never seen, never noticed, like smoke. Miles away before anyone even realizes that the targets have been killed.
>>
>>336389021
You are forgetting that early Hitman games like C47 had 47 take on armies of gangs, triads, militias. He is recolonized as the most accurate shooter referenced in Ort-Meyer diary and Blood Money news paper if you kill bunch of people with only headshots and not a single miss.

>>
>>336391293

>>
>>336392908
Of course not.
>>
>>336392908
Nah, everything is in the exact state it was saved at.

Well, actually, I think sometimes the dialogue you were currently listening while saving resets when you load. You could probably glitch the game up with enough saves and loads to change patrols like that.
>>
>>336393058
They had that in the Paris level with the camera. Why couldn't they do that in Marakech?
>>
>>336392908
So far the only hiccup with reloading a save was when I was doing the Candlelight Opportunity and stood up too soon. When I reloaded, she already had the glass in her hand while she was talking, but when she went to pick it up, it warped back to the table and then continued normally.
>>
>>336392908

>>
>>336392908
Nope. You can save any time in the level, load that save any time (even after you've beaten the mission), and it will return you to exactly what you were doing. There's a glitch where NPCs will sometimes wallhack after you've loaded a save, but they may have fixed that.

>>336391293
Location and level aren't the same thing. The ICA Facility is one location, but it has two levels in it. So episode seven could be a new level in an old location.
>>
>>336393278
Yeah, I dunno, I think the other poster wants something that looks specifically like the Muslim extremist bombings but I think that might be too silly even for Hitman. What, some sort of iron maiden of explosives? I guess maybe you could put a remote explosive in someone's backpack?
>>
Kinda getting tempted to pick this up at this point although there are still mechanics I wish were different like unlocking stuff with some iconic weapons being missing.
Also the online DRM feels like a giant middle finger.
>>
>>336393415
But the ICA Facility is completely different from one level to the next. I'd count that as two (smaller) locations.

It's entirely possible that the final episode happens in the mansion in Paris where the only changes are in the NPC's and objects that inhabit it.
>>
>>336393463
A suicide bomber won't run somewhere screaming allahu akbar with a belt of dynamite. He will silently say his prayer, behave as inconspicuous as possible and then blow stuff up. So rigging someone with a briefcase or backpack or some cleaner with a waste trolley is actually a pretty realistic option.
>>
>>336393737
Yeah, I was just thinking it'd be silly if it was some sort of explosive belt.

>>336382859

>>336393665
I'm talking about the terminology IOI is using in their statements. ICA Facility is what they call a "location," even though it has two entirely distinct levels/maps in it. Their statements have amounted to the fact that there'll be seven locations and seven episodes (but the first episode included two locations, so there will probably be an episode that re-uses a location).
